“Nothing’s official, in any case, but you seem to have made an incorrect assumption about me in that sense. I’m contented to be loyal—I’m a creature of commitment, so they idea has never scared me off,” Thaddeus corrected. It was true. They had never been the type to really fancy one night stands and such, rather being the type to follow their heart into a relationship, even if they were short-lived ones. “Ah, so you resent that just for the sake of one person. That’s a shame… except for you, since we have such lovely dark haired women onboard, hmm?” Far too easy to poke fun, and far too tempting not to use it as an opportunity to irk Alarik. “He likes to explore in there. I have nothing to hide from him. I think most people couldn’t say the same.”

“A creature of commitment, eh?” Alarik said raising an eyebrow at the doctor’s choice of words. Part of him couldn’t help but wonder what other creatures were on the ship, who was hiding what behind their smiles and perhaps they were one who was hiding something. Tilting his head some he pursed his lips as he brought the ale up to them and took a sip before shrugging. “Lucky we do. She can handle herself, even if she tends to get into trouble sometimes...” Which honestly he liked. His ma had tried to set him up in the past with females from his pack, who were all so...’dainty’. Adeline was different and that was what drew her to him. “Ah but does he have things to hide from you? You ever think of that?”

Uridia hadn’t particularly wanted the reminder of that night at Maeve’s home. It also brought to mind that at this very moment Maeve and Charles were locked away on a ship and no one on the crew seemed in very much of a hurry to rectify the situation. Her demeanor, which could have been seen as playful but a very astute eye, shifted towards something more serious at the mention of that night.

“You heard Cyrus confirm it himself,” she reminded him. This was another stranger Cyrus trusted, and so she found him fascinating in a certain way. These strangers who had seen her brother commit acts of violence and bravery she had never dreamed of witnessing. “It would be a very strange way to get aboard your ship, but no stranger than how I really granted myself access.” She went into her bag and pulled out her special deck of cards, which had intricate designs of mermaids on their backs. “I bet your captain my entire life’s savings in a card game for a position on your crew. He did not know I was related to Cyrus at the time and now I think he might not have agreed if he had known.”

It was true, he had heard Cyrus confirm it and while his ‘friend’ hadn’t given him a reason before to not trust him, Alarik still wanted to make sure it wasn’t a ruse. Call him a nosey bastard, since it was out of his own pure curiosity. Sometimes he liked having things he could hold over someone else, little hooks just incase the time ever came that he would need it. 

“Wait, you bet him to join?” Whatever intentions he had previously was gone now as he started to laugh. “I am guessing he lost if you are now a part of us. Tell me, how bad did he lose?” Her joining the crew was not unlike his own. While there were no bets taken place Alarik had asked Jax to join once he heard they were after the jewels. He was one of the few who never knew the previous captian, had no remorse for his death. “Now why do you say that? I thought Jax and your brother got along?”

As usual, Alarik’s pessimism didn’t dissuade him. “They’re just one island of werewolves, just one example. An unpleasant one, but not a condemning one…” Cyrus didn’t care for gross generalizations for people. He was a hypocrite in that sense as he viewed all humans with baseline distrust, but he knew, logically, they weren’t all cruel even if he didn’t test the theory. He knew too that the same generalizations were made about mer or even agains other humans. “I would think they could. Little things at least. They could pull so many pranks with that.” 

Of course it was just an island to Cyrus but he knew first hand that islands of wolves tended to end up just like that for outsiders. His own mind went back to the island he grew up on for a moment and what would happen to him if he ever stepped foot on that land again. Hopefully he didn’t have to... “Still what’s so special about werewolves?” He muttered before looking over at his ‘friend’ and focused on more important things like the sorcerers. “You think we have any on the ship? Or have ran into some other than Charles and Mauve? I could use their little tricks for things...” mostly pranks but still.

“Unfortunately, yes.” It wasn’t as unfortunate as Maeve was acting like it was. Yes, her new life plan wasn’t one she had ever expected to take…but it wasn’t exactly unwelcome, either. She crossed her arms over her chest and stared this new face down. “An attack or two? Can’t you all just…take it easy for a bit. Who says you have to get attacked while you’re out on the water?” It was silly. They were pirates after all. Now, she was a pirate too. “I’m a member of the crew, Alarik. Or at least, I’m pretty sure I am. Unless the Captain changed his mind. What exactly do you do around here?”

It was the threat of the full moon that was making him a bit crankier than normal. It tended to happen when it was getting closer and closer to the time when he was supposed to shift and since he was no longer shedding his human skin to turn into a wolf, he tended to get crankier than normal. Which is was he was taking it out on her today. “We are pirates, love. Goes in the code.” Though he did agree with her but she didn’t have to know that now did she?  “Though you could ask Jax to perhaps not piss off a sea serpent this time but--” he shrugged to finish his thought. “Well let’s hope the captain doesn’t change his mind, we could use the bodies when shit hits the fan again...I’m the carpenter, it’s my job to fix whatever Jax puts this ship through. And you?”

Cy chuckled and lowered his voice further. “Alarik, I’m pretty sure the introduction of ‘we’re looking for the Jewels of Destiny, yes they’re awesome magic rocks’ should be indicative enough of the ridiculousness of the crew. And the danger of being part of it.” Absently he watched the other admire the wood, unsure why he found it so enthralling. “Not with our latest guests, no,” he replied with a slight frown. He’d never gotten a chance to know about his own culture and the idea of others made him giddy and intrigued, even when it was dangerous. “But I’m curious about people. I want to know about them. We don’t get a chance to learn from anyone, we just raze everything to the ground and leave. The werewolves and sorcerers were just people, surely they’d have stories. You’re telling me you’re not even a little curious about them?” 

It was the reason he had join originally, the jewels but did he know the dangers that went with them? That came with finding them? He wasn’t sure if he fully understood but now he did and he couldn’t help but wonder if past him would have went after them or not if he knew... “Honestly I can’t say I want to know more about werewolves after the incident after Lunar Island.” Of course he knew more about them than he wanted to let on, how it was his blood that saved Jax’s life and the only person who knew that was dead. “Sorcerers could be interesting though. Think they can turn things invisible?”

“I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you yet.” It was not a pleasure, and Maeve was sure that the other could hear that in her voice. With a loud huff and a thud, she set down the bucket of water she’d hauled across the deck. She wasn’t sure if it was some kind of hazing or whether the upper deck really needed to be cleaned every day, but so far, she had done little else other than be the crew’s upper deck maid. “Which, unless you’re sneaking onboard and aren’t meant to be here, means you’ve probably been busy with other crew business the last couple of days?” // @wolfalarik​

“I could say the same for you. Are you supposed to be here?” Alarik said almost with an amused note to his voice. Of course he knew who she was, they had broken into her home after all, but was she still supposed to be here? He didn’t bother most days keeping track who was part of the crew and who was captive considering in the past few months alone they had at least...4 captives? Mauve, Charles, the sorcerer...okay no it was three. “ We set sail in three days and someone has to make sure this ship can handle another attack or two.” His eyes glanced down at the bucket she set on the deck before looking back to meet hers. “Alairk, and yes I am supposed to be here, probably more than you are.”

     For some odd reason , Kalix didn’t feel like reading or sleeping much today.  He was restless and quite frankly —— extremely bored.  After all , a person can only enjoy so much leisure and quiet away from the rest of the crew.  While their carpenter made it quite obvious that he’d rather be left alone to his work , Kalix was no stranger to silently helping Alarik with menial tasks. 

     Granted , the helmsman and carpenter were alike in that they have both had their fair share of sour mood swings.  Kalix didn’t know much about the other , but nobody else was around and all he could hear was the faint echo of Alarik’s tools meeting wood.

     When he reached Alarik’s workspace , Kalix gently knocked on the doorframe and peeked his head in.  “  Need a hand with anything?  ”  He hesitated for a second.  “  I’m bored.  ”  

   “You’re bored,” Alarik said not looking up from his work. They were due to leave port soon, head back to the sea which meant the last few days he had left before they did set sail was left for him to make repairs and keep the ship as sturdy as possible. Who knows what they were about to go through. Yes he was still bitter about the whole sea serpent thing... 

    “Must be nice to be bored and not have anything to do,” while his voice could be vile and jealous, for once it was almost playful teasing the man. In reality Alarik loved his work, it reminding him of his family that he hadn’t seen in over a century. Plus there was something almost hypnotic about working with wood and creating things out of pieces of trees. It was easy for the wolf to zone out and just work not realizing how much time has passed by. “If you want I could use some help, yes. Can you cut some planks in half for me?”

uridia​:

Uridia paused in her movements, brow furrowing in confusion. “A woman’s martial prowess is a concern for you in bed?” she asked, turning to the man with an odd expression. Her mother and father had told her of mating rituals between warriors of the colony, maybe there was a similar human custom that this man followed that she simply had not heard about.

Keeping the server away however, as the man had tasked her with, would probably be a harder task than simply distracting him. Uridia could try to stake a claim of some sort, pretend to flirt or put her hands on him in some suggestive manner, but that had never been her strong suit and would likely make things awkward between her and her new crewmate. So instead, Uridia waved at the serving girl, pointed at her crewmate, then indicated a shaft as best she could with her hands. Next, she mimed the shaft shrinking until it was a miniscule size and shook her head sadly at the serving girl. Not finished yet though, she the pinched two fingers together as if she was holding a coin, and then pretended to throw it over her shoulder and pointed at her crewmate again. Again, she shook her head sadly, as if consoling the woman who was looking at her with a clearly baffled expression. Uridia turned to look at her new crewmate. “I am not sure this is working.”

Alarik opened his mouth and was about to speak when he watched her do her many hand motions. Raising an eyebrow he wasn’t sure what to say but instead just shook his head and let out a chuckle as he reached for his ale to take a swig of it. “Still I thank you for at least trying,” perhaps if he just sat here and ignored the blonde woman long enough that she will get the hint and leave him alone as well as whatever thoughts she had. 

“So,” Alairk said now eager to change the topic and push the girl out of his mind as fast as he could. He wasn’t going to let some barkeep try to ruin his night on the port. “If I remember right, the night we decided to visit Maeve and Charle’s little house, I heard that you were Cyrus’ sister?” The wolf was always a bit blunt and didn’t beat around the bush when he wanted to. While he didn’t have many friends, it was just how he was, Cyrus was one that he considered a friend and so of course he was curious. “Is this true? Or were you just lying to Jax so you can join our great adventure?”

Adeline openly laughed at his affected accent and proper manner of response. “Oh, are we on formal terms, now? My sincerest apologies, sir,” she teased before finally bringing the little moon ornament forward to where she could hold it up between them. “It’s nothing special, really, but I figured you might like it. People do give gifts in these sorts of instances, if memory serves.” Not that she was entirely sure what this situation was, or what to really do even if she was more certain. “Feel free to toss it out if you hate it, though.”

The teasing almost playful tone he had disappeared as she lifted up the small moon ornament to show him. In fact his face kind of melted, shifting from the playful smirk on his face to one that was in shock but in a good way. There was no way she would know what the moon meant to him, no one on the ship knew of his love/hate relationship with the circle in the sky. It controlled his whole life and even now with that small tattoo on his chest blocking it from doing so physically he felt the affects mentally. Having it now in his hand almost reminded him that he was in control at least for now and this thought made him smile. “My mother always liked the moon,” he said and it was true, his whole family and packed loved it. Everyone but Alarik loved who they were and embraced it. “Are you joking? Why would I toss it out? This is perhaps the best gift I have ever gotten, love.” And before he could stop himself he lent over and kissed her cheek, letting his lips linger there for a moment.

Thaddeus looked over to the girl once more. Sure, she was a bit more done up with rogue and the like than any of the other women about—certainly in comparison to any of their crewmates. “Not a fan of blondes? I’ve dated a few fair haired women in my time. Rather lovely, if only a bit aloof… though that might just be coincidental,” they mused. They perked up at the question, a bit of sly smirk tugging at the corners of their lips. “I’m not Jasper’s keeper, last I checked. He’s free to roam as he likes. Or is that not something you’re accustomed to?”

“Honestly, I have a hard time seeing you all pinned down and actually dating someone,” Alarik said looking over at the doctor with a smirk like smile on his face. While he never saw the other when they were at their flirtatious stage, in the past year the wolf had been on board he hadn’t even seen them glance at anyone but the curly haired cook. Even now they are getting closer he still had a hard time seeing it... “But no, blondes are not my thing. Had an ex who was blonde and well let’s just say things didn’t end nicely.” That was putting it lightly. Reaching for his ale, he took a sip and just smiled as if he knew something the other did. “Oh no it is, I just swore I saw him heading to your office earlier tonight. Kind of surprised me to see you here tonight because of that.”

Watching Alarik fondle the wood was all the confirmation Cyrus needed and he waved down the seller, but had to wait for him to finish with another patron. At the mention of dolphins, though, he had to resist wrinkling his nose in distaste. They appeared joyous and friendly, and they were certainly clever, but they could be malicious if they chose to. Dolphins were an awful choice for something pleasant. Alarik’s question stalled him and he turned to face him fully. “I didn’t know, no,” he lied easily. “But there are so many stories about magic, werewolves, fairies, monsters and the like that I assumed something would end up true.” He shrugged. “I didn’t think we’d run into so many of them, but it’s interesting. Even with the high chance of death every time. Maybe we can have a pleasant conversation with whatever we run into next.”

“Perhaps this ship needs to come with a warning sign. Let others know that if they were going to join that they were going to run into mythical creatures. Things that go bump in the night.” Not that would have stopped Alarik, not with the jewels in sight. Letting his fingers brush over the wood once more to get the feeling of it under his fingertips his ring was like a beacon on his hand of those said jewels but to an untrained eye it could pass off as a family heirloom. Which in a way it was... “After how the whole breaking in thing went for us, do you really think we can have a pleasant conversation?” The thought alone almost made him chuckle. “I mean really, with this crew?”

“Aww, you do listen to me,” he said with a beatific grin and another playful nudge before carrying on without answering. While Cyrus hadn’t been the carpenter in some years, he remembered the job well and was happy to aid the other in acquisitions and repairs. He paused by a selection of lumber and nodded towards it. “This could work. If not a serpent, what do you think we’ll run into next?”

“Oi, shut up,” Alarik said not wanting to admit that sometimes, like once in a blue moon, did he actually listen to the other man. When they paused by the section of lumber, his fingers traced over the wood almost as if he was caressing it, staying silent the whole time. It was his father who taught him how to use and manipulate wood to do what he needed it to do. It was a generation thing, a cover story for their pack in a away. The wolf had found that he enjoyed working with the material and was good at it. It was also the only time once he got older, that his father gave him any kind of attention. “Is it too much to ask for if I say something pleasant? Like a pack of friendly dolphins or something along that nature?” Pausing he then lowered his voice to add, “I didn’t even know mythical creature even existed before joining the crew, did you?” He lied through his teeth, just like he did with most things.

i am taking full liberties on this and going to have fun okay? 

so he’s a werewolf obvs. he is born to the same mother, same father and has an older brother, yes 

BUT his pack isn’t just his pack. and hes not from we call current day florida 

hes born in chicago and while he grew up with money has seen some shady shit 

his father’s pack is also mafia because the hierarchy is very similar 

hes good at this kind of work. sometimes he even finds himself to enjoy it because while a normal pack just has an alpha then beta and etc, this mafia like pack means that he can be in control of his own little section of it. his own mini pack of sorts 

he gets shot but its in his shoulder and he laughs about it later and how it makes him look tough 

when his father ends up dying, nick takes over but alarik becomes the right hand man and they actually get along working together to make the family an even more powerful one

he wouldn’t have his tattoo on his chest that keeps him from turning. because oh who would expect a little rabbit? just hoping along under the full moon looking for something to eat someone to bite?

he bites the fingers/necks of anyone who dares to laugh at him in that form because he is SCARY 

he would have MANY siblings because rabbits are good at multiplying and probably would have even less of a chance to become alpha than he does now and honestly hes okay with this

📖 + AU where Alarik became the alpha instead of his brother

He’s ten when his brother is killed. He is there when it happens and it’s a sight he will never forget

Having no choice but to train Alairk, his father starts the training the whole time comparing him to Nick as if he wishes the younger boy was the one who had died instead. 

Alarik grits his teeth and spends the rest of his father’s life trying to make him proud but it never works. Even his father’s dying words to him are ones that compared him to Nick and the alpha he was supposed to be. 

he becomes the alpha the second his father dies, that power being passed to him and at first he has no idea what to do. he had wanted this for so long and now he has it he is almost scared of it. 

though through his fear he actually becomes a decent alpha and ends up marrying a local woman so they can continue his linage 

he has two sons and a girl. she is def. a daddy’s girl and Alarik is an amazing dad

thus being said, he never steals the time jewel because it is his duty now to protect it and keep it safe from troublesome pirates 

thus also being said he never meets the crew until one day they show up on his island searching for it.

I cackled at this. 

first off it would be an accident, he stumbled across the convention on accident thinking it was some kind of carpenter one or something. 

would be really confused the whole time. 

‘what are you supposed to be?’

‘WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY I DON’T UNDERSTAND SQUACKING’ 

‘okay that one, whatever it’s supposed to be isn’t that bad...i like it...’ 

it would take him an hour of just walking around in pure awe and confusion to realize/remember where he was supposed to be and leave 

he makes a vow to never return though he did learn something new that day about these so called ‘furries’ and also not to look up ‘furries’ on the internet

Ever since making port, Cyrus had been steadily acquiring the goods they needed for future repairs, but today might be their last chance to fulfill last-minute needs. The market stalls and storefronts were familiar territory now as he weaved around other market goers and stuck close to his crew mate. “Will you be as pleased as I am when we leave here?” Cy asked, nudging Alarik lightly with his elbow. “Even a sea serpent would be welcome after this mess.”

“You have no idea,” Alarik said looking around the lumber yard they were currently at trying to find the wood that he would need in case something came their way again. In true form of a man on a mission, he stood there arms crossed his chest half listening to Cyrus like he normally did. It was almost too easy to tune the other out. “Wait--” he said before actually turning to look at the other, confused. “You want a sea serpent? Are you insane?”
