Artfight Round 13: Would it Have Made a Difference? !

For @wolfamongthewrongstar of their Cyph with Mirrorwalker Ford. My face when I accidentally become the Multiverse's worst Single Father.

Bloodhound Mask : Cyph

Well hello there! Im quite a fan of your ford here and his whole bounty murder scheme and id be veeery curious to know how a situation with him and my girl Cyph would go

Cypher is by all means a threat when she wants to be—Or more accurately, when shes noticed.— She is a variant of Bill Cipher after all, you could argue shes not quite him, which is true but in all aspects she is what is left.

You see Cyph is a god of a world with noone in it, a ‘winner’ of a realm left destroyed, shes taken what was always meant to be hers and she has the power for it.

Her connections to her Pines family is no longer, theyd have to be alive for that. But to go back in time, Cyph found Ford interesting and kind, the pines twins just as much him! Fiddleford and stan always seemed to stare like they knew more than she did. And ford..well ford had tests, experiments, sharp needles to poke, claiming it was all for the better so Cyph agreed to it all with a smile. Until she learned she was being used, betrayed, harmed.

Something something, a breaking point, she destroys it all. Every trace of people gone. She is the only one left.

There is an outside ford to thank for that (Savior!Ford oh how she hates you.)

Anywho. Thats her story in a rough draft, for more current things.

Cypher is 12 years old in form and mentality, shes shy and cautious around fords (shes had a few too many interactions with troublesome fords.)

She is allied with Astra and few among that line of things, her first real friend after her Pine twins was Astra :)

Shes quiet, calculating, she watches and observes you like shes determining your risk. Any slight lunge, the wrong word said, shes trying to catch it.

She may be a young girl but god she can be scary. In one of the best ways i can describe her it feels like youve sent out to hunt a person and once youve got them cornered, they turn to you as a haunting cryptid who’s ready to tear you apart.

Cypher is capable of shifting forms, she can change her face to others with enough practice—Its how she appears human after all. She can become a beast to tear you down. Cyph is wired to escape, to keep the bad things walled away, her magic will shift to do whatever she can to stop you, she Will strike and explode and lash out like a feral cat in a corner with nothing left to lose. That is the outcome when you fear everyones out to get you.

And whether she can die?.. well thats not known, can you kill a god with nothing left to lose?

That is all i can think up. MW is awesome and i cant wait to see more :)

Joy of joys, I'm almost certain Cyph's bounty would be from folks who want to science on her, which would assuredly NOT add many layers of emotional turmoil and distress to the situation. Clears throat

MW is not the most gambling man. Well, that's a lie. He gambles all the goddamn time - but more exactly, he doesn't love to gamble with his targets. Bills are dangerous variants, and knowing that he couldn't likely take on a friendly Ford's face to get close to her. That's problem one, really. He doesn't have an easy 'in' so to speak.

Issue two is that she's very powerful, and he does NOT like to toy with magic. At all. Personal experience, it goes badly. His main weaknesses are magic-based as opposed to physical-based.

He also doesn't love to go after children. Or shapeshifters. Children is obvious, shapeshifters are a massive pain in the arse to deal with.

Would MW Ford chase down a scared, child god Cipher variant who can shapeshift? ...He wants a billion credits for it. No less. 10% odds of even taking it then. This is not a bounty he would ever really want to touch with a ten foot pole. He is not comfortable with it on any front whatsoever and he'd only do it out of desperation.

Ideally, he wants a kill bounty here. Ideally, he'd be able to wait until he has a quantum destabiliser handy so he can get a clean shot in, from afar, low risk to himself.

But the universe does not love Stanford Pines, and it especially does not love The Bloodhound. So he would spend a lot of time watching, waiting, and researching.

If he can't beat her physically, he might have to do so emotionally. If absolutely necessary, and I do mean absolutely necessary because this is the bounty he wants to do the LEAST out of the ones I've gotten....

...He would use Astra as a hostage. Simple exchange. Come with me or I'm going to disassemble her over and over and hand her over to the people. Your choice, not mine.

No clue how likely that is to work. I don't think this is a likely timeline to follow. But if he had to and he lacked the proper tools, yeah he'd leverage one 12 year old's life over another's.

It’d definitely be harder too if Cyph knew the reason for the bounty. Science, experiments, threats, things shes not willing to go through again. Things she’ll fight tooth and nail to prevent, killing her was never going to be easy and trying to take her? Might even be a worse feat. Unless you can tranq her when shes not looking, you’ve got a problem on your hands!

And no friendly face to use, shes wary enough of fords, cautious, because there is a ford out there shes waiting on, one shes not so thrilled to oneday see.

And ohhh bloodhound would be So right in not wanting to handle a bounty with Cyph. Not only is she a danger for what she is, shes also young and being young leads to more reckless behavior than one. An adult might have more morals, a old god may have hesitation, a child with nothing left to lose might not.

Not unless you have a upperhand, and in that case itd very well be having Astra. Cyph wouldn’t want Astra suffering, not more than she already has. Mirror would be smart to play that move.

But of course, its what comes after thats risky too. Moving a target who could lash out any moment.

Because what good is she dead? If scientific experiments is what the bounty is called for, what use is she dead? Itd be an all around awful time for Mirror AND Cyph.

This has been so cool and id love to explore more dynamics of potentials here..two threats, whether ally or foe.

If MW is approached in a normal, casual way (well… normal, casual for him, anywho) he will absolutely be willing to sit and talk most the time HDHHSBDHDHF

I admit he would be confused if / when a child approached him. You think she’d have any incentive to do so?

I think it’d definitely be possible depending on the circumstances.

If alone somewhere far from usual, it means something went wrong for Cyph, whatever that may be.

She might be scared, lost or even hurt. The multiverse isn’t something she trusts easily, its wide and unfamiliar.

I could see them on common paths, whether it be due to a common enemy or a simple run in forcing a conversation or two.

Ugh it’d make for some cute art i think. Threat among threat chatting..

I think that would intrigue him if she was scared or lost or hurt, because that’s not common for Bills. He’d probably literally tilt his head and be like “you’re a Bill” with audible curiosity. I don’t think he’d be pushing the matter.

People don’t really often approach him for help (gee I wonder why) so it would be a situation that very much takes him off guard - and a Bill going to a Ford for help is weird. He’d be cautious, one hand on a mirror at all times in case he needs to escape, but he’d probably actually be willing to give some if for no other reason than curiosity (and. Okay. He’s not purposefully a dickhead to children when he has no reason to be)

Hmmm!! A common enemy is fascinating. I wonder who / what could be an enemy to both of them?? Absolutely feel free to input if you think of anything! Technically MW can get bounty hunted too, although it’s often considered ill-advised, so being mutually hunted would be very funny hdhsgsjhshf. There’s also ye classic we’re both out here being angsty in these woods and there’s a monster here neither of us bargained for situation.

Hmmmmmmmm!!! Running into each other conversations..,.,, intriguing. What spaces would they mutually go to and find each other in?? Well MW kind of goes anywhere and everywhere for the job, but off the clock hmmm. Bars (maybe Cyph is a bit young for that), generally just brooding places… could catch him on the clock but staking out a different target?? Ohhhh Cyph being hurt, lost, scared. Maybe shes been chased this way, he’s stalking a target and he just turns to see this kid alone in a place she shouldnt be.

Shes wary of fords, but fords have supplies on them, they carry things with them, and right now she needs supplies. She approaches slow, timid, like a stray cat spotting food in your hand. MW just watches as she quietly goes “Do you have bandages?” Or something along that line, maybe a communicator or a map, something.

“you’re a bill.” And she just tilts her head and quietly asks “does it make a difference?” Because sometimes, sometimes it does.

Sometimes when they know what she is, it makes a difference.

Maybe they talk for a bit, maybe he offers her whatever she asked for, maybe he asks why shes out this far alone. Shes a child after all. Wheres her world, her family?

Maybe she asks the same. Why are you out here? What are you doing? Things along those lines..

And ohhh common enemies could even be apart of it, whether its bounties or scientists, whether someone already tried to put a bounty on cyph and he said no and these same people chased her this way.

Or a monster in the woods keeping them a bit more stuck than planned, its happened to cyph before. She met Astra this way, raiders keeping them trapped. Lovely way for communication to bloom

His god awful evil hands that only hurt will bandage her up carefully and gently and disinfect things and he’ll tell her to take a deep breath in before the painful part and distract her with stories etc. etc. MW was particularly close with his Stan so he sorta picked up the being good with kids thing from him

If she asks about all that he’ll just laugh kinda sadly about that and all. Quiet somber moment to share in.

Honestly one could take an all of the above route and use repeat encounters.

Cypher is by all means a threat when she wants to be—Or more accurately, when shes noticed.— She is a variant of Bill Cipher after all, you could argue shes not quite him, which is true but in all aspects she is what is left.

You see Cyph is a god of a world with noone in it, a ‘winner’ of a realm left destroyed, shes taken what was always meant to be hers and she has the power for it.

Her connections to her Pines family is no longer, theyd have to be alive for that. But to go back in time, Cyph found Ford interesting and kind, the pines twins just as much him! Fiddleford and stan always seemed to stare like they knew more than she did. And ford..well ford had tests, experiments, sharp needles to poke, claiming it was all for the better so Cyph agreed to it all with a smile. Until she learned she was being used, betrayed, harmed.

Something something, a breaking point, she destroys it all. Every trace of people gone. She is the only one left.

There is an outside ford to thank for that (Savior!Ford oh how she hates you.)

Anywho. Thats her story in a rough draft, for more current things.

Cypher is 12 years old in form and mentality, shes shy and cautious around fords (shes had a few too many interactions with troublesome fords.)

She is allied with Astra and few among that line of things, her first real friend after her Pine twins was Astra :)

Shes quiet, calculating, she watches and observes you like shes determining your risk. Any slight lunge, the wrong word said, shes trying to catch it.

She may be a young girl but god she can be scary. In one of the best ways i can describe her it feels like youve sent out to hunt a person and once youve got them cornered, they turn to you as a haunting cryptid who’s ready to tear you apart.

Cypher is capable of shifting forms, she can change her face to others with enough practice—Its how she appears human after all. She can become a beast to tear you down. Cyph is wired to escape, to keep the bad things walled away, her magic will shift to do whatever she can to stop you, she Will strike and explode and lash out like a feral cat in a corner with nothing left to lose. That is the outcome when you fear everyones out to get you.

And whether she can die?.. well thats not known, can you kill a god with nothing left to lose?

Joy of joys, I'm almost certain Cyph's bounty would be from folks who want to science on her, which would assuredly NOT add many layers of emotional turmoil and distress to the situation. Clears throat

MW is not the most gambling man. Well, that's a lie. He gambles all the goddamn time - but more exactly, he doesn't love to gamble with his targets. Bills are dangerous variants, and knowing that he couldn't likely take on a friendly Ford's face to get close to her. That's problem one, really. He doesn't have an easy 'in' so to speak.

Issue two is that she's very powerful, and he does NOT like to toy with magic. At all. Personal experience, it goes badly. His main weaknesses are magic-based as opposed to physical-based.

He also doesn't love to go after children. Or shapeshifters. Children is obvious, shapeshifters are a massive pain in the arse to deal with.

Would MW Ford chase down a scared, child god Cipher variant who can shapeshift? ...He wants a billion credits for it. No less. 10% odds of even taking it then. This is not a bounty he would ever really want to touch with a ten foot pole. He is not comfortable with it on any front whatsoever and he'd only do it out of desperation.

Ideally, he wants a kill bounty here. Ideally, he'd be able to wait until he has a quantum destabiliser handy so he can get a clean shot in, from afar, low risk to himself.

But the universe does not love Stanford Pines, and it especially does not love The Bloodhound. So he would spend a lot of time watching, waiting, and researching.

If he can't beat her physically, he might have to do so emotionally. If absolutely necessary, and I do mean absolutely necessary because this is the bounty he wants to do the LEAST out of the ones I've gotten....

...He would use Astra as a hostage. Simple exchange. Come with me or I'm going to disassemble her over and over and hand her over to the people. Your choice, not mine.

No clue how likely that is to work. I don't think this is a likely timeline to follow. But if he had to and he lacked the proper tools, yeah he'd leverage one 12 year old's life over another's.

The worst gamble of all is a threat among threats!!

It’d definitely be harder too if Cyph knew the reason for the bounty. Science, experiments, threats, things shes not willing to go through again. Things she’ll fight tooth and nail to prevent, killing her was never going to be easy and trying to take her? Might even be a worse feat. Unless you can tranq her when shes not looking, you’ve got a problem on your hands!

And no friendly face to use, shes wary enough of fords, cautious, because there is a ford out there shes waiting on, one shes not so thrilled to oneday see.

And ohhh bloodhound would be So right in not wanting to handle a bounty with Cyph. Not only is she a danger for what she is, shes also young and being young leads to more reckless behavior than one. An adult might have more morals, a old god may have hesitation, a child with nothing left to lose might not.

Not unless you have a upperhand, and in that case itd very well be having Astra. Cyph wouldn’t want Astra suffering, not more than she already has. Mirror would be smart to play that move.

But of course, its what comes after thats risky too. Moving a target who could lash out any moment.

Because what good is she dead? If scientific experiments is what the bounty is called for, what use is she dead? Itd be an all around awful time for Mirror AND Cyph.

This has been so cool and id love to explore more dynamics of potentials here..two threats, whether ally or foe.

With Astra and Cyph, it wasn’t meant to happen exactly, neither anticipated coming acrossed one another, not when Astra had been shoved into this dimension as a get away from raiders who fought hard and mean, raiders who wanted things from a ruin they couldn’t quite get ahold of—So how dare Astra try? This wasn’t allowed, they gave chase and fight, following astra into this dimension further..

Until they were met with the very thing guarding it, the very thing keeping them at bay, it struck and it struck hard, it bit and tore and chased the trespassers out, for this was her home, not theirs, they had no claim.

But it didn’t mean that the raiders didn’t stay, they did, for days—Or however long time passed here. Astra was trapped, stuck in a wasteland of ruin, the only person still standing within it was a being who wanted to be left alone, one who was frightening and frankly? Frightened. “Travelers shouldn’t come this far, they only want my things.” She’d mutter. An argument or two from each other, a huff, a quiet scoff or two, sitting with their backs turned until coast was clear..But when you are stuck for so long, maybe it gets a little more normal, a little more familiar, maybe conversations strike through days of silence.

Just maybe a friendship starts between two who didn’t quite fit in.

They certainly weren’t close at first, not when the first meet is quite a fright, not when two people hold a guard so high and tight, but walls break, Cyph certainly knows that well. Just look at what shes done.

So Splotch or better known in her dimension as Scrapbook Mabel is a Mabel in:

The Scrapbook Dimension

It's a "parallel" dimension almost the exact same as every other gravity falls parallel dimension though of course with its own twists!!

The twist is that the Mabel of another parallel dimension made this one interlocking the two dimensions.

The only thing is, is that only the Parallel dimension or the "real" dimension as I call it has the ability to disrupt or change what happens in the Scrapbook Dimension.

That also means that if the Scrapbook ever gets damaged.

The world does too.

The other twist is that bc the scrapbook is based around the scrapbook in the 'real' dimension the Scrapbook people live in a perpetual summer break! Meaning that the twins stay at the mystery shack.

Dipper variant

There is a dipper variant! That being Scrapbook Dipper pines!!

Though he's like canon dipper nothing too too different just your regular dipper boi!!

The main difference being that bc he stays at the mystery shack with everyone else dipper has more time to go on adventures in the woods with Mabel and their friends!!!

Cyph came from Euclydia, same as Bill Cipher himself-but Cyph is a product of a experiment, an attempt to change the cycle of Cipher. Bill Cipher does not gain his mutation to see the stars in this universe, this mutation is given to a new creation, Cypher, a star seeing stars, what a gift.

She has her own feelings of this, this knowledge shes gained. When you know what you are, you cant help but wonder..

[Curiousity once said that i am the product of an experiment, (i hate that word.) a one off, i was an attempt to change the order that couldn’t break, i was a failure (mistake) and i will not happen again.]

[But home.. Home was different than here. It was peaceful, filled with shapes and family, but i saw something they didn’t. Ive been told in another world, he would’ve seen the same, if i wasn’t in his place. (Our fates, the same?)]

[I suppose i find peace knowing our eyes saw the same things. If only they could’ve seen it too. (They did.)]

A change, the difference, the effect, it made the world unstable, fragile, an instance that will not be repeated for a universe’s safety. We thank curiousity for it, for they knew better than to try again.

Bill Cipher as we know him is no longer, alongside Euclydia, they’ve become the stars that Cyph so dearly loved, if only that comforted her, it doesn’t.

Appearance wise, Cypher is capable of shifting her form, taking the faces of people and creatures. When she arrived to gravity falls and came acrossed the twins, her first true friends, she recognized their fear of her form, so she adapted.

That is what Cyph knows, to adapt, she took the faces of the twins, of the people around them, and she made their differences her own. She tries not to change her form anymore, she worries if she leaves this one she wont be able to go back. She considers it their way of living on, the people she adapted to.

Hello copper >:] i will of course tell you a bit about the beloved Cyph!

The Wrong Star is an Multiverse AU with the general thought of.. What If? What if Bill Cipher wasn’t the god to approach Gravity Falls? What if another being took his place?

That being is Cypher, better (and more preferred by herself) known as Cyph

But there is a flaw in Cyphs world, she isn’t the only one to come acrossed it.

What happens when a mans world is destroyed by a god he hasn’t prepared for? When all is lost, a man either crumbles into nothing or he makes himself something. A ford, lost to his own world, takes it upon himself to be a savior to others, he comes young worlds still yet to meet the triangle shaped doom we know Bill Cipher to be. But not each world is the same, not each world has an entity wishing for destruction. Savior!Ford comes to Cyph’s Universe and approaches a younger him, he speaks warning of a demon god who one day will come for him, for his future niece and nephew, for the world, and that it must be stopped. Cyph’s Ford drives himself mad, he never leaves to venture the multiverse, for his own is in danger. He obsesses, and in turn, teaches his niece and nephew to do the same.

And when a god finally does come, it’s different, unlike the warning told by a man with the same face—But its still a threat, is it not? For a creature like Cyph who molds herself to fit in, to become one and the same—Its disturbing.

Cyph is not malicious, she is curious, but curiosity kills the cat and in turn has killed her world when her first friends become cruel and malicious traitors, people playing a game with a god who never knew the rules, and yet she still won—Right?

The wrong god, the wrong star, the wrong world. Cyph is a creation of circumstance and her world took the fall for it.
