a/n: HELLO THIN ICE LIKERS i apologize for the delay of this chapter! ik it’s been a month, but i honestly had such a writer’s block with this chapter and this wknd i got hit with so much inspiration! so here it is, the pentultimate chapter of the entire series, where everything is either make-or-break. i cried so much writing this. it’s 8.2k words. with much love, i present to you this chapter <3.

it all came back to the two of you far too quickly.
after childe’s draft into the major league, you naturally gravitated towards one another. it started off as being friendly when seeing each other between classes. then, it turned into long lunch hangouts or jogs around the campus. and now, you were back at the team house, full-time.
childe sat next to you as you mulled over your textbook. the only thing stopping you from graduating with academic honors was a dumb final organic chemistry exam. trying to recall last year’s chemistry was less than appealing to you, but you continued filling in bubbles with a pencil.
out of your team, you were the last to take your finals. in three weeks, you would be front and center in the middle of the teyvat university football stadium, picking up your diploma and moving your tassel to the left. but for now, you were stuck trying to see which set of molecules would react the fastest.
“finally finished,” you groaned, flopping your head on the table. “ugh. i never want to look at a molecule after this exam.”
turning your head slightly, you found that childe was already staring at you. a hand squished his cheek, lips quirked up into a smile. “the hell are you looking at?” you asked with a raised eyebrow.
“nothing,” he said, hastily shaking his head. scooting next to you, your heads leaned against one another. “hey, that was record time. you finished three minutes earlier than you usually do.”
“really?” you asked with wide eyes. grinning, you looked over the test with your answer sheet. “if i get at least 50 of these right, i’ll still pass this class with an a!”
childe nudged in beside you, hands that were once on his crisscrossed legs bouncing on his knees. your own, free hand almost touched his but pulled back once you heard a noise behind you.
twisting around, you deadpanned. “is there a reason why the entire team is standing in the doorway of the kitchen?”
