My favorite character is Venti, and my favorite ship is actually Xiaovenlumi—though I mostly post Venlumi since I don’t really know how to draw Xiao that well yet… but that might change soon hopefully!!
Kinds of things I post: I will post ship art, and art of the individual characters too! Also, Xiao might join in depending on how confident I am in my drawing, whether it be with one of them individually or both of them.
Warning for people who find sex or sex-related things uncomfortable, I will not draw anything directly NSFW—though NSFW jokes might appear occasionally for the silliness.
!! prone to tagging in a bit of franglish, i speak both natively and love mashing em together to express my feelings and thoughts about posts !!
Have a lovely day and please have fun scrolling 💚💛
Here are my headcanons for my sillies below in case you’d like to know how I see them:
Venti: Birose, Demiromantic, Polyamorous and Genderfluid (any, but he will mostly be used in my art)
Lumine: Birose, Polyamorous and a Demigirl (she/they/it, but she will mostly be used in my art)
(Bonus) Xiao: Biromantic Asexual and Polyamorous (he/him)
I keep my designs mostly canon while incorporating a few headcanons of mine such as:
- Lumine is tanned, muscular and has scars
- Venti has curly hair and feathers where there usually wouldn’t be
Eehm hi there, I see you reblog a lot of my art (thank yew btw) and I don't really ship venlumi but I started drawing them, I probably won't finish so I wanted to share the wip with you as a thanks for supporting my work (:
throwing my hat in the ring for predictions in the far future about potential playable shades
by now i don’t really think any more elements are going to be introduced to the reaction system, which is a bit saddening because of all the potential the community saw, but i have a different theory that we might be getting characters who will be able to use 2 different elements in one kit, potentially with modes that swap between them not dissimilar to furina and durin’s pneuma/ousia and support/sub-dps modes.
i have this theory mainly because of the connections that multiple different shades already have with different regions. with all that said and done, here’s what i’ve gathered:
ronova has relations to natlan after aiding them in their journey to reconstruct their ley lines. she has been in direct collaboration with mavuika and is most often depicted with shades of deep red typically signifying some affinity with pyro. so i’m 90% sure that if she will have one or more elemental types, pyro is definitely a safe bet.
but i won’t ignore the other potential contenders. the most glaring one being inazuma’s statue of the omnipresent god, which bears a very strong (though not explicit) resemblance to ronova. the statue is also called “statue of the thousand-armed, hundred-eyed god” in cn/jp versions, which could be more evidence for electro ronova since she is referred to as someone who “sees all, hears all, and judges all.” it’s also worth mentioning that death is eternity, which is kind of inazuma’s whole thing.
i’m also briefly considering hydro ronova, but it’s a veeery big stretch, only because in the story teaser “the solitary pursuit of lightning,” the statue is being pulled out of the water. it’s like a 3% chance.
lastly, i want to acknowledge the possibility of cryo ronova, which is slim but possible, with her being present in the snezhnaya story teaser “sudden snow.” it may tie into the themes of death with the tsaritsa’s dead lover. it could also mean something that with how they’re leaning into cryo’s preservation element, it wouldn’t be too far-off a connection from eternity, which i’ve already connected to death. even though preservation keeps stuff alive, so i could be wrong.
naberius and rhinedottir could be a tricky case. i’m interested to see if they would give her only one element to balance out with the other three all having two, but i’m doubtful due to the fact that they fused and naberius has no agency, implying that all of life’s powers are at rhinedottir’s disposal.
due to naberius’s personal involvement, i think dendro is the best bet. naberius’s previous character design has strands of hair that have patterns similar to circuitry or the patterns on irminsul/(aaru?), as well as the symbol on nahida’s chest being identical to the one in naberius/rhinedottir’s eyes. her creation egeria also had close ties with the pari in sumeru. originally, naberius had circuit patterns on her hands, thing in with dendro’s connection with evolution of technology.
there in argument to be made for hydro naberius/rhinedottir, though, most prevalent in her creation of egeria, the first hydro archon, to serve the role of the primordial sea’s heart. the primordial sea is also closely tied to hydro. naberius’s original form looked a lot like focalors’s. on top of that, naberius was once worshipped by the hyperboreans, of whom the frostmoon scions are the descendants. they even called her by their own unique name of “maadteraahka.” so it wouldn’t be terribly far-fetched to say she could be an enabler for lunar reactions.
istaroth, if given any element, should. SHOULD. be anemo. with how many references there are concerning the wind intertwining with time, and the shared voice actors between venti and istaroth in EVERY LANGUAGE (even in jp where venti is voiced by a grown ass man, impressive work), and that the people in mondstadt would worship istaroth before barbatos, then both at once while gradually forgetting istaroth, is so much to work with. the connection with venti and istaroth is so heavily implied that i do not believe that his only connection with her was “a chance encounter at the thousand winds temple.” decarabian’s storms were defeated by the performance of a melody that belonged to istaroth. i’m not even fucking done.
anyways, there’s something to be said for istaroth and electro, considering her identity as kairos to the people of byakuyakoku/enkanomiya. (her power was also referred to as the “undying wind” but whatever) since enkanomiya is part of watatsumi island, it is technically part of inazuma, even though watatsumi island has its own independent governors. eternity as a theme could also be a strong indicator of istaroth’s influence due to her whole time thing.
similarly to naberius/rhinedottir, the people of hyperborea used to worship her under the name “laimelea,” as she is currently known by the frostmoon scions. so there is an argument to be made for hydro or otherwise lunar istaroth, made stronger by the fact she has the authority to pass out moon wheels like the one she gave to zibai. this could also be a subtle connection to potentially geo istaroth?
and lastly there is a connection to be made with cryo considering its theme of preservation, though since she doesn’t appear in snezhnaya’s teaser, i’m a bit doubtful. she did help asmoday preserve moments in time within the temple of space.
asmoday is a tricky one because we know so little about her. there’s of course a strong possibility that she may be connected to geo with her motif of cubes, which could also be an argument for cryo due to, well, ice cubes. that’s all we really get. due to both nahida and columbina creating domains in their kits, we could say there’s potential for hydro or dendro asmoday, but i have my doubts.
Rewatching the Shades teaser in Chinese and noting some nuances
The usage of "Miss/Ms"
When Ronova calls out Rhinedottir after destroying the life in the space that she was experimenting in, she addresses her formally as "Miss Rhinedottir", likely to put some distance between herself and the Shade she thought she was talking to at first, as she simply calls Istaroth by name. In contrast, Rhinedottir rather informally addresses Naberius as "Miss Nabe" as a slight show of disrespect after being annoyed by her nagging, while Naberius simply calls her by her name with no honorifics.
When Ronova asks Istaroth about "bestowing history upon 'them'" the "them" is translated from 它们, using the pronoun reserved for objects, animals and usually non-humans. It does make me wonder if Ronova is asking Istaroth about "bestowing history (of the Shades)" upon Rhine's simulated humans instead of referring to Before Sun and Moon.
I hope all the chuds that like to erase Phanes' androgynous nature and want them to be a some macho alpha chad, that if you're right then Mpreg is canon cause your colonizer GOAT is referred to as Mother of all Gods.
LET ME GO ON PUBLIC RECORD AGAIN RIGHT NOW WHILE WE'RE ALL EXCITED:
Istaroth is the Worst of the Shades, especially as we continuously see Ronova and Rhinedottir be shown for their humanity, for their empathy, and for their genuine desire for things to go accordingly. For their humane nature.
We were introduced to Istaroth in Enkanomiya, as a terrifying and Eldritch deity. She is the only one to grant them mercy, and the way she does so is selfish. By splitting the realms into Evernight and Whitenight, giving humanity a way to avoid the Vishaps, she also introduced a means to measure time.
Istaroth's greatest act of mercy was granting herself a reason to be individually worshiped in a time where forbidden knowledge was ravenous and Teyvat was shaken. Because Enkanomiya fell after the war with the Second Throne That Came After.
Istaroth is not kind, or regarded kindly. She is respected, feared, and sacred beyond understanding.
Sacrificial Fragments, a second book from when Istaroth was worshipped reaffirms this perception of her holy nature.
Enkanomiya calls her Joy, Rage, Longing, Obsession. Mondstadt calls her Merciless. Ravenous. The Godkillers... call her Unrelenting. You understand ?
How does this compare to the other known Shades, Ronova and Rhinedottir ??
Ronova is... compassionate, for one thing. She is introduced to us in Natlan. During which it is revealed that she agreed to work with Natlan against the Abyss via creating the Night Kingdom.
When Mavuika's plan came to pass, Rovona was focused SOLELY on maintaining order. Mavuika will die because that was agreed upon > The Captain will die because it will uphold her curse and because it's mutually beneficial. She allows them to argue about it, she allows them to speak very informally and casually about the might of Celestial Shades without consequence.
"Mavuika: After all, leadership is built on the trust of ordinary people. Without them, there is no Archon."
"Yohualtecuhtin, Lord of the Night: The Captain envisions a kinder and fairer set of rules for humanity. In addition, he aims to challenge the authority of the Ruler of Death... In a word, his goal is revenge."
"Ronova: I now understand that which you seek..."
Of the two above lines, Ronova is remarkably silent about the way that these people under her ranking criticize Celestia decisions. We cannot presume the same from the Merciless March of Time, she who ... had the sunchildren and sacrificial dance ceremonies.
As for Rhinedottir... she is the most human character in the game. I don't know how else to describe it. Everything that Rhinedottir has ever done has been for her passions and interest in the nature of life and limits of humanity, in knowing and achieving every thing that she is possibly capable of. Go talk to @monards about it, because the point of this post is not about her humanity, but about how Rhinedottir is kinder than Istaroth is.
We see this in the way that Durin's recounting of his life was her encouraging him to go and show off his beauty, in Albedo being sent to live in Mondstadt under Alice's watch so that he might know what it means - for him - to be alive, and the way that she interacts with the Hexenzirkel who love her in turn. You learn a lot about a person given who their friends are, and Rhinedottir Gold turns to Alice (Friend of Adults who Still Harbors Hope), Nicole Reeyn (the Guide who Will Never Get Lost), and Andersdotter, she who taught the Hexenzirkel who wanted to share her stories of love and friendship and unending adoration with them for generations.
When we compare Istaroth to Ronova and Rhinedottir like this, we do not have stories of her even remotely expressing these same sentiments, because Istaroth is not motivated by them. She is Time, she is curious, and the kindest thing about her is that she loves a good story.
And well, she is responsible for the two largest killing forces in the game. Forbidden Knowledge and Erosion. It is by her hand that the Forest (the Withering) dies, and it is by her words that the gods fade. She may not have killed them herself, may not have been the one to damn the ambitious to the skies, may not have been the one who separated the twins... but she certainly is not against indulging, worsening, and Keeping Record of such happenings.
