No, regression isnt always happiness or sunshine. And yes it's important to note that as recognized by definition by the majority of the community, age regression is primarily a coping mechanism for trauma, and as a result, the regression can be stormy or scary or even sometimes maladaptive.
However comma. Sometimes it IS actually all sunshine and rainbows. Sometimes it IS laughing and coloring and playing with your toys, and wearing bright colors, and having a cute moodboard blog on tumblr. This can ALSO be because it is primarily a coping mechanism for trauma.
"Agere isn't all sunshine and rainbows" for me it IS!! (Mostly). It's how i cheer myself up! It's what i use to remind myself that the physical world is here too, and is capable of being enjoyed, and that the life i live now is enough to keep me alive. That i can still find beauty and whimsy even when the world as a whole looks so... well. Stormy. To remind myself that it's alright to focus on the small things that are right in front of me, the things I can use my hands to touch and change one step at a time, rather than spiralling over things that I will never be able to change right this second on my own. This isn't how everyone experiences agere, no, but to say nobody experiences it like this isn't true, and to exclude us who do isn't right.
Some regressors like myself don't want to spend our regression time stormy or venty, because our big time is already stormy. Sometimes the real world is too scary to bring with you. Sometimes regression is the break from the scariness, and not the outlet.
It is just as okay to be a sunny regressor as it is to be a stormy one.
And yes, while I have seen some people assume that regression is only happiness because that's what they see of it, that is PRIMARILY a problem of them being uneducated, and NOT a problem of the people who post sunny agere things.
In other words, it is not on me or other sunny regressors to feel guilty because we post bright colors and smiles, rather than airing all our stormy feelings and ventiness. It is just as much our right to be happy instead of scared, as it is vent regressors' rights to be scared while tinie instead of big. It IS, however, our job as a collective community to educate about what agere IS, not just what it looks like, what it "should" look like, or what it "shouldn't" look like.
Sincerely, a sunny permaregressor, who is only sunny because if I was stormy I would never have a second of peace.
