“What…? Ach, hey! There’s no need for that, Hauptsturmführer,” Flannery protested, the foreign language rolling smoothly off her tongue, as though she had grown up with it. She raised her hands to chest level, keeping them in sight, and slowly shifted her balance so that the medical band on her arm was well within view.

Bastian lowered his pistol, he had no intentions of harming someone who meant no harm to him. A thankful smile met his face and he put his pistol back in its holster. 

“A medic?” Bastian comments, his eyes holding on the band for a moment. “Well looks like my luck hasn’t run out just yet.”

“Do you mind turning that THING off?” he tries not to let out how uncomfortable Aschenbach has been making him since he was placed close within the unit, doesn’t even know if all that springs forth from the pristine black uniform he sports so proudly, or that wretched thing he carries; prying upon ever living moment of them. Documentation of battles to show the glory of the Reich, my ass, how much was he enjoying the piss poor life style and failures, the death? Gory glory. 

He’s trying. He really is. Fails with an abrasive tone of voice that cracks along the fire that has not served to keep them warm. And yet what is it? The uniform that makes him feel like he is stepping on egg shells, or the camera? He’s a fucking specimen under the lenses of a microscope…

Bastian shifted with a measure of discomfort. It was the uniform, always the damn uniform that got in the way of his duty and the task at hand. To say he was a stranger to biting comments and growls would be an outright lie. Although Bastian dealt with it, in stride and always with a calm expression. 

“Yes, I do mind. This is my job, to document the war!” he said firmly, somewhat meeting his wits end of being berated by soldiers for doing his job.

However, Bastian did let up with his camera; a deep sigh left him, wether it was from fatigue or something worse he had no idea and didn’t want to give his mind an inch to stretch it into some terrible fantasy.

“Look, just pretend I’m not here. I’ll even stand back a little.”

I have  a great deal of time on my hands now and will be more than happy to rp with anyone, especially WWII blogs!
