Opinion: Gay cis men feel they have 'won' the battle and tend to no longer stand with the rest of the LGBT community and its struggles.

I can’t make a blanket statement obviously, but there is a lot of complacency among that demographic for sure. I’m not very in touch with that community but speaking from outside it, the levels of misogyny, biphobia, transphobia, and racism coming off it still seems inordinately high. Gods know I’m grateful for every single one of them who bucks that trend.

I don’t want to be rude but this sounds like it’s generalising western culture, especially progressive parts or social circles of america, with everywhere. But I don’t even know where you’re from and I guess my experiences mean I’ve heard very real accusations of this in america but don’t see too much of it where I live. I’m not in the “community” really so I guess I’d just hear from my friends idk. When I’ve seen it it’s often those who are online, financially stable, often white and the like.

i feel like if anything people are nicer to me when i'm holding a potential weapon. but just go for "uhm? i kinda suck at walking?" in your best how-did-you-think-that's-an-appropriate-question voice for nosey strangers. my mum got me a folding one because she's a sweetheart like that. cheap, light weight and comes with a plastic bag thingy so you can just shove it in your bag without getting it dirty. also it means when people are like "hey you'll need your stick" and i refuse to believe i do, then i have it when they were inevitably right. the weird thing is people three times your age insisting you take their seat on the bus.

hey doll, i can't lend you money (sorry) but you can get cheap medic alert bands with "see wallet card". there are templates for free wallet cards out there and then you can put all your info on it. i keep thinking i should do it but don't really go out alone. hit me up if you want help finding links.

yes i was breast fed.

no i didn't take unecessary courses of antibiotics.

no i wasn't raised in a sanitised, sterilised bubble. i was a playing in dirt, looking for bugs, climbing trees and doing cartwheels sort of kid.

actually i did eat vegetables as a child. 

no my parents were never paranoid about my health and spreading hypochondria. they were veryvery much the opposite.

so even when people do things right they can still get sick *gasp* and sometimes people didn't do everything perfectly, which is very much understandable since it works out fine for so many people. how the hell would that mean they deserved to be sick?

i think they just need to convince themselves that it could never happen to them.

also, i realised that i never talked about what happened during his auto session.

when i went in, he started signing my first blade, and i asked him if i could tell him something really quick. he said sure, so i told him that i just wanted to thank him because if it wasn’t for him, then i wouldn’t be here today. he kind of nodded, so i figured he’d probably heard that a lot before. i then went on to tell him that it was because of him that i named myself dean when i transitioned. he looked up at me, and his whole face just lit up. he got up, and we hugged for a full ten seconds or so, and he was telling me in my ear that he was so proud of me, and just holding me so tight. when he sat back down, he said, ‘thank you for telling me that. you seem like such a brave person.’ to which i replied, 'i honestly don’t know how i’m not crying right now, mate.’ he laughed, and then we hi-fived.

and then apparently he talked about me in his coffee lounge, which is so fucking surreal.
