Hm, okay, this post just got me thinking that everyday items and matters of accepted etiquette—like eating utensils—are matters to which I should probably give more attention in worldbuilding.
I mean, I like to create original worlds that don't follow typical fantasy templates and aren't based on medieval Europe or (directly) on any other real-world cultures, but... if the civilizations in my fantasy worlds don't use the same weapons and titles and costumes as in the real world or in typical D&D-inspired fantasy settings, then they probably shouldn't be using the same eating utensils as in the real world or in typical D&D-inspired fantasy settings either.
Now I kind of what to think about what eating utensils people use in worlds like Dadauar and Curcalen (and similar day-to-day matters)... although I have enough else on my plate that honestly it's probably not something I'm going to spend much time on any time soon.
