Holy SHIT. My beloved star map made it to the finals of this year's Worldbuilding Awards!! I've been working on this map for almost a decade and it means so much to get this kind of recognition.

In the 130th century of the Universal Modern Era (2900s CE), known space extends in a roughly spherical radius from Sol of about ten parsecs

I'm 90 % done with the wiki, hell yeah.

I finished all the conceptualization, writing, coding, interface, database and assets.

All that's left is providing around 60 spells so that, at the very least, readers have enough groundwork to understand how casting works for each magic schools.

The past week or so I figured out how to make one of my maps semi-interactive via WorldAnvil, following some lovely coloring and addition of a decorative ìkam border by my map artist, Melissa.

The link will take you to the interactive version: you can hover over labels, bodies of water, and other shaded areas to access brief encyclopedic entries! Now if only I could embed it on my website!

Which oc storage site would you recommend me?

I would like to try a oc storage site since I've wanted to leave touyhouse for years and refsheet.net (i loved this one) is closing down. I would prefer it to be a site with no character limit (since I have over 100), that characters can be set as private and not a very big community since I'm shy about my ocs. I would prefer it to allow +18 content even if I don't exactly do that (but I'm more comfortable if it allows it). I don't mind customization.

My opinions about other oc storage sites for reference:

Charahub (shut down in 2019): I liked this one, and its character questions, but I did nto like the image and character limit.

Toyhou.se: Been in this one 2018 and it's still empty because I dislike its community so much it makes it unusable to me. Also, I don't like it being so customizable since it's overwhelming.

Worldanvil: This one was fun! But is more worldbuilding focused and I think you have to be premium or something to keep your worlds private.

Refsheet: My beloved. Customizable enough for picking your own colors and questions without being too overwhelming. Allows +18.

Howler Logs

For the longest time, I debated how to organize a lot of things happening in Howler Logs - especially for any newer readers, or couple readers of mine who prefer skimming over things. Then I remembered I still have an account on Worldanvil.

This is still a major WIP, we've managed only clear first arc and even there I am missing some information. But I am updating this now (near) daily, be it either additions to the timeline, adding new character pages, lore tidbits that have been revealed... Also links to full arcs, which I have tweaked here and there to fix some glaring issues I only caught in passing.

There will be no spoilers here unless you are a clever bean and really start to dig, I am going through older content first after all.

Hello Tumblr friends, stepping waaaay out of my comfort zone here.

But I've had for years an account over at worldanvil.com (also on Tumblr: @worldanvil ) And yearly they have a competition of who wrote the best thing. (World Anvil World building Awards 2024)

(WorldAnvil is a world building website, where writers, artists, readers, game developers, game players, dungeon master and so on have gathered to write down or keep track of their worlds or fiction or non-fiction. I've been writing about a fictional pirate ship roaming the seas in the current time.)

I've submitted three things for the competition. - In the category Strength and Honour, I've submitted the character article about the Captain of the above mentioned pirates. - I've submitted the whole world to the Best World category - And the timeline.

Why am I (after keeping it a secret for 4 years) telling you this? Because this year everyone, also people who are not on WorldAnvil can vote.

hello i know on here there's a post that I've reblogged a few times about lamenting the loss of forum boards and websites for communities and such

I've been tinkering (see: going feral holy shit) with an idea for a wow RP guild, and using my old favorite website builder, worldanvil. And my god. Lads and lasses and lemons lemme tell ya

They have forum boards now. With integrated dice rolling for play-by-post as well as the ability to post as your character (duh) but also for the storyteller to post as NPCs, including organizations that you've made articles for.

Like, look at this:

look at how clean that is! The blue box is storyteller/DM note to the players of the post. Couple this with their insanely robust website tools and this site literally fucks so hard. I constantly stumble on new and cool features on this thing, yall. If you're into worldbuilding, RP, or just crave forum-based games, please give worldanvil a shot.
