Hold up, are we just ignoring the fact that everyone in the atla universe speaks the same language? Sokka and altars have never left the southern water tribe but have no problems communicating anywhere? Like I go to Australia and am confused (also I’ve never been to Australia). Also, Aang, who has literally been frozen for 100 years, has no problem communicating (besides some fire nation slang) so their language hasn’t changed. Put me in 1921 and I’m gonna be at least a little confused. But how does a place like Ba Sing Se, which is pretty isolated from the rest of the world, not develop a different dialect from, say, Kyoshi island??
