Not to mention Jesus very much did just give people fish. Like, that was a significant thing that happened.

Also in those two stories, he very specifically fed the crowd so that they would stay.

It was dinner time so people were going to fuck off and get some food, and then probably go home. Jesus kept them fed so he could keep teaching to them.

If you want kids in school you have to feed them when they're hungry.
