I'm sure you've changed a lot from when you were 17, but sometimes it's hard for a 17 year old to know that their life won't always be this way and that these feelings won't last. I want to know, what advice would you give to your 17 year old self?

The worst period of my life was probably when I was 17. And I can’t thank Allah enough for getting me out of that period.. If I knew then what I know now my life would have turned out a whole lot different

But I do believe that everything that has ever happened to me happened for a reason. It brought me so many life lessons.

There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel. Whatever it is that you’re going through now, you need to keep reminding yourself that it could have been way worse than it is. No matter if you’re 17 og 30 pain is pain and we all feel it.

The other day I was taking a sister home and I had a terrible day and she knew that because she was with me the entire day. She saw me crying and screaming and she didn’t say one single word to me. On the drive home just before she left my car, she hugged me and said “It’s not to late to do two Rak'ahs of Shukr to Allah”

She blew me away and I completely broke down.

My point is: this thing you’re going through has probably opened up your eyes for some other things. It probably made you take some decisions or it probably made you realize how cheap this world is. And for that you need to thank Allah.

Even, thank Him for not making it worse than it already is. A brother once gave me an advice that I’ll cherish for as long as I live.

He said: Say Alhamdulillāh on your bad days and say AstarghfiruAllāh on your good days.

It keeps you humble and awake. This world and all its sorrows isn’t anything in compared to the sorrow of the Akhirah. Look at it as a means to get closer to Allah. Cry your heart out to Him and He’ll draw you closer to Him.

No songs, no quotes no poems no nothing can heal your wounds except Allah. All the other things will only make it worse - Trust me!

Don’t seek out the comfort of those who won’t advice you towards Sujod.

Talk to people less. And talk to God more ❤ Your pain is temporary - That’s a fact. One day you will look back and think to yourself “Wow did I really cry over that?”

Have hope in sha Allah ❤

Handcuffs have always looked like silver bracelets to me, and I’ve always saw the noose as a badge of honour.. I’ve always saw the jail cell as a place of worship, and I’ve always claimed that captivity is nothing but stairs to Jannah. But I’m still running… and I still prefer to have locks on my existence… not my body… Because I was fooled by society’s lie when they claimed Shaykh Nasir al Fahd was a captive and Abu Dujanah al Khurasani was a free man.

Reflections… All week I’d been waiting for Friday night because I had something planned with my close friend who’s in another state. And Friday night finally came… I was so happy and excited… And just as I messaged my friend, boom. All the electricity in the house went out. Just. Like. That. And I’m home alone too! And to top things off- one of my biggest fears is darkness.

So I start freaking out, start rummaging through the cupboard for candles and I light as many as I could so as to not face my fear of being alone in a dark place, even if it’s “home”…

But while I was rummaging through for these candles, I started to think about the darkness of the grave and my heart began to beat so very fast. There’s no darker place in this whole world than the darkness of being 6ft deep… And there’s no loneliness that compares to the loneliness of being 6ft deep…

Your whole world can turn into another within the blink of an eye. A black out was the very last thing that was on my mind, wallaahi. I didn’t even think it was a possibility. Didn’t even cross my mind at all. Today when I got in my car to drive home, I didn’t think I was going to face a black out within a matter of hours… And it made me realise..

Death is like that too.. It will come in the most unsuspecting time possible… It will come in the blink of an eye… While you’re busy with other “plans” Death could have met me tonight, the ultimate darkness could have met me. And driving home - that was also the last thing on mind. I was too preoccupied with my plans. SubhaanAllaah we plan and He plans and indeed He is the best of planners..

Allaah subhaanahu wa ta'aala caused darkness to shed some light into my soul… But the test is, when this darkness disappears, will I be heedless of the ultimate darkness?
