I’m good at falling in love with trees & flowers & things that don’t belong to me, we’ve been repeating sentences, looking for feelings in misplaced punctuation - a series of I love you’s caught on lips in the turmoil of catching a thriving season - you remind me of smiles I lost years ago - I just didn’t know how much I missed my name
until I saw you
Blend
It's been years since we've touched But I still feel your head pressed Upon my chest, your arms gripped Around my waist, as we blend In to the star filled night as one.
Crave
The corners of the fitted sheets Stretched across my bed are Always pulled loose when I wake.
Blanket cast to the floor while Pillows are the small spoon I Press in to my vapid body softly.
I’ve been tossing more than ever Searching, I’m sure, to fill a void I’ve never known to be whole.
Medicate
Medicate your kids. Imagine what would happen if they could imagine. Grade. Rank. File. Standardize. 13 years mandatory sentencing. Habitual days of compression, they'll call it instilling stucture. Uniform thoughts stack neatly, Systems innately grind individuality, a constant squaring off of round pegs. If you reimage tomorrows militia, you'll find the meek and mild condensed shells of social construct; all too easy to compell and convince.
Relevance
There are far too many cast in self-consumption, painted into a corner of doubt where fear pushes the content of their character in on themselves. Upon whence they have no choice but to choke on the misery of their former judgments.
Whole heartedly know this is a path not only choice can direct the feeble down, no. Here they can be dragged along, tied for dredge upon those whom they chose not to stand against when vulgar opinions press opposition on the weakened will of the state.

I Could
I could press imaginary push pins into the dimples of your cheeks in a frail attempt to pin your smile on the wall of my heart. I could insulate your radiant eyes and hold the heat hostage to warm the cold thoughts that besiege my lonely nights. I could let myself drown in the tears that I've caused you to shed in hopes that the euphoria will wash the guilt from my words. I could ask and beg and plead but I could not admit my wrong.

Wall Flowers
Those late blooming introverts, -flowers painted on the wall, chip-chip-chipping away while time slips through their hands; it’s sand on the beach of life.
Where can I find these people? are they laying face down, drowning in a shallow pool of shrinking self esteem? Are they walled up from the world in which they pray for sudden escape? Do they hang, still, in the trees grown from discontent of peers lynched with the outsiders rope of disapproval, nay, disregard?
I like to hope they’re all safe, barred up from the discontent. Maybe, laid back like me, eyes closed, wrapped in the cool dark of the night. Ears peeled, searching out for the siren song of our people, our disenfranchised youth, to call us forward to the place where we can stand together, unified, unafraid of the scorn of the vox populi.
For we, we are the lonely few in the room, those to scared to learn more of each other, than the awkward spark of a passing eye contact. When only another seconds worth of stare would find us bathed in a pool of self-reflection. Yes, we are more in numbers than the shade cast off drawn curtains in an afternoon would have led us to believe.
Home for the Holidays
Homemade wind chimes crafted with best intent ring out in dissonance.
A still wooly worm bug is wrapped in a spider web & half frozen to the porch.
The leaves are dead & gray. Shrunk & twisted from a dull dry autumn.
Expected brilliant hues of fall that bathe these hills in a flash fire of color were stripped of their chance to shine.
This year was hard on the earth, as was the year hard on my heart.

_________
Click
There was a click that night in the air. I’m not quite sure I remember where. Was it here or outside on the stairs? Was it the look across the room; a playful stare? Her words tease and jest, “So debonair.” There was a click that night. Somewhere. Somewhere in the air.

Icarus
She spread my soul out, and with wings I flew toward the horizon. But I soared too high, just like so many before, (the Icarus in us all) so the heat of my love melted her away. ~LDM
Gone
Gone are the days of discovery when my life would paint beauty on the white walls of my mind.
Gone are the nights of infatuation when my love would wish upon most distant falling stars in the sky.
The well is dry.
Moonlight presses through fog, hanging glowing sheets of mist against the corners of my vision.
Fall bonfires set upon the brisk night, summer is setting over the edge while aged timber pops with warmth.
Stars spill out against shades of dying light. I ponder the odds of this projection of sense.
Choruses of cicadas and frogs hum, in the zen of perception I find the whole farther from my grip than the want.
crow
it haunts me everyday flapping silently a menacing mist shields my soul quavering as leaves fall the bareness of tree trunks stark cries ache a morning melancholy thickened with corn stalks dried rustle swooping by its hoarse caw mocks me a bold affront a dare to survive the coldness of a winter bereft
