this one was weird. each line is the first line of a tweet on my twitter feed today. I may edit this later, but I wanted to capture authentically how the internet talks.

hammers

you jog in the cool mist

on a trail of dirt and leaves

trying not to hear your

panting when a hammer

falls close enough for you

to make out the silver head,

the wooden handle. you

keep jogging but consider,

as anyone would, how?

before you arrive at a whole

thought, another hammer

falls with a thud. yikes!

then another one. now a

dozen hammers break

through the canopy. you

think this is getting dangerous

and your dad says you’ll be

fine and passes you the sour

cream. you spread a dollop

over your burrito, and stare

across at this stranger, wishing

you had something to talk about
