Ian and Mickey see a really gross and sappy couple, and decide to have a bet to see which one of them can be the sappiest. Ian does things like leaving Mickey notes all the time, and Mickey doesn’t know how to outdo him because he’s not good at this and he’s too self conscious.

Ian wins, and Mickey just tosses him on the bed like “let’s get back to what i’m actually good at.” *suggestive eyebrow movements* while Ian laughs.

AU where Ian and Mickey meet because they work at the same restaurant. Once they’ve officially become boyfriends, they end up taking ‘breaks’ all the time. They sneak into the bathrooms for a quickie, or sometimes they just sneak outside when the restaurant isn’t busy. They kiss and talk, holding hands and laughing. 

(Their coworkers are all pretty annoyed with them and find them to be quite gross. But they also think they’re adorable so they let the whole ‘breaks’ thing slide.)

Headcanon: Ian loves to run his fingers through Mickey’s hair and Mickey loves it when Ian plays with his hair.

Sometimes Ian or Mickey will remember all of the painful things they’ve been through. It almost always comes with guilt, and ‘i’m so fucking sorry I put you through that’. 

The other will just grab their hand, pulling them close. They always end up cuddled in bed, wrapped up in each other, reminding themselves that they’re past all of that. They made it, and they can finally be happy.

Artist AU where Mickey loves to wake up before Ian so that he can draw him without Ian knowing. One day, Ian wakes up to the sound of pencil against paper and pretends to be sleeping until Mickey is done, knowing that he’ll probably stop if he knew Ian was awake. “you done?” and Mickey just sighs, because he knew he was going to get caught one of these days “yeah, yeah”

Ian decides to teach himself how to play guitar, he learns mostly by watching videos online. He’s not an expert or anything, but he does know a lot of the chords.

One day Mickey asks Ian to teach him how to play. Ian is, of course, more than happy to teach him. Ian’s standing behind Mickey, helping him position his fingers and the guitar. He quickly loses focus though, and starting pressing kisses to Mickey’s neck, occasionally mumbling things like “sounds good” when Mickey manages to strum a chord properly. 

Mickey eventually gets tired of the guitar, and too distracted by Ian. He puts the guitar down on the floor and turns around in his chair to face his idiot. He puts his hands on Ian’s hips, thumbs rubbing gently. “You’re a shit teacher, you know that?”

Ian just smirks. “I know. How about we go practice at something we’re both good at?”

Mickey rolls his eyes, but follows after Ian nonetheless.

Hey! For the song page, what about the song twin sized mattress by the front bottoms. I especially get a gallavich feel from the song with the lyrics "with tears in my eyes I begged you to stay, you said hey man I love you but no fucking way" :)

I'm sorry for annoying you but I just finished shameless and I'm literally crying my eyes out at Ian and mickey, it's hurts so bad, I haven't stopped crying since I finished it, I just don't understand why they would build up that relationship to completely knock it down but idk I feel like fucking shit

The reasons for breaking them up actually lie in Noel Fisher not being able to guarantee his availability for next season due to filming for the TMNT sequel, so it was necessary to end the season with something that would explain Mickey’s absence while also contributing to Ian’s continuing story line. At the moment, no one knows the filming schedule for TMNT and therefore Noel’s availability (or if it is known, it hasn’t been released to the public yet), but it’s been speculated that he should be free for the back half of s6 -  meaning there is still a chance Mickey will be back next season at some point. 

This interview with John Wells makes it pretty clear that the intention is to continue their story so long as Noel is available, and Noel Fisher adores Shameless and Mickey Milkovich, so we’re pretty sure that he will be back eventually, even if not next season.

In the meantime, what break up? Last we remember, they were on a date.

Mickey is on a date with someone and they go to the bar where his date’s friend works (”Ian can get us discount drinks, man”). Ian comes over to say “hi” to his friend and his gorgeous date, and accidentally ends up stealing Mickey’s heart in the process.

(In the future)

Ian wakes up late one morning and he’s rushing around, worried that he’ll be late for work. Mickey, who has the day off, is sitting on their bed with the sheets all bunched up around him. He’s got a slight pout on his face because Ian hasn’t given him a ‘good morning’ kiss yet, and it’s really starting to piss him off.

Just as Ian’s about to leave, he finally glances over at his disgruntled boyfriend. Immediately knowing what’s wrong, he rolls his eyes and lets out a soft laugh. He walks over quickly and grabs Mickey’s face with both of his hands, giving him a long kiss. Finally he pulls back, satisfied with the small smile on Mickey’s lips. “I love you, and now i’m going to be late. See you tonight!”

Mickey just smiles as he watches his idiot boyfriend rush out of their house, he’s completely in love.

Ian has a stomach ache and he’s lying with his head on Mickey’s lap. Mickey is alternating between gently running his fingers through Ian’s hair and rubbing at his stomach, lulling Ian to sleep.

Headcanon: sometimes Mickey wakes up in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, so he likes to count the freckles on Ian’s skin until he drifts off again.
