They've been doing something interesting with Digimon of late. Specifically, heavily implying something in the games Survive and Time Stranger.

At first, the franchise said that Digimon were effectively born upon or around the activation of the first ever computers, ABC and ENIAC, and evolved from there via what data they encountered.

But now it looks like they're saying "Digimon have always been around as long as humans have, and mythology is ancient humans encountering Digimon, just with a different name."

I'm honestly fascinated by this idea. Like, They're the Fair Folk and the gods and everything, but outside of chance encounters, there's been almost no real interaction. But then computers came along and connected the Digital and Material Worlds, and now we have to deal with this new, deeper connection.
