Why Gelphie should have been queer: Their love is subtext throughout the stage show and/or movie adaptation, and is supported by various actors who've portrayed them over the years

Why Stiles should have been queer: They baited Stiles being bisexual multiple times within the show. I’m not even talking about the Sterek-baiting specifically. Stiles is bent on knowing whether he’s attractive to gay guys, and he’s affronted when his dad automatically assumes he can’t be gay when he’s caught at a gay club (for admittedly non-gay reasons). There’s the long pause that one time when asked if he’s attracted to men too. Not to mention when Stiles does a failed flirty look to a girl and then to a guy (Danny) in the most classic bisexual move.

Where do I even start. I know it’s ’worst character’ but they are both minor characters and both are trash, pick one. Episode is called ‘Better Half’ and they are two idiot half’s of one whole terrible queer character representation. There they are with a cool rep of a sexless marriage, and the wife presents to the hospital for some reason other than her sexuality. House hears she is asexual and goes ‘that’s not real, I bet there’s a medical reason’ as in he LITERALLY makes a bet. But yep of course HE IS RIGHT. Turns out the husband has a tumour that’s making him asexual, and she was just pretending and actually DID like sex but had given it up for him :( So yay happy days the Asexuality in the dude gets cured and she can go back to bangin’ . And House wins the bet that asexuality doesn’t exist!

I am not sure if they count but since they were marketed as asexual in advance I wanted to submit them. Basically House finds out about this couple who are in a happy relationship with both of them identifying as asexual and bets Wilson that he can "cure" them. He runs all kinds of test for the woman who was originally in the hospital and then realizes that she is healthy but her husband has a tumor near his pituary gland repressing his sexual desire and his wife was just faking her asexuality in order to be with him. So this episode that was promoted as asexual representation actually ended up showing two people neither of whom was asexual while also promoting that asexuality is a disease to be cured.

Propaganda for Charlotte: the big bad of pretty little liars is revealed to be a mentally unstable trans woman. it's unclear whether she was always mentally ill, her transness is part of that mental illness, or the conversion therapy/psychiatric hold she was put in by her parents caused the mental illness. fun all round. no matter what she is an obsessive murderer who is eventually put in psychiatric care. apparently she starts to do better and is released. only to then be murdered. i wish i was joking.

Taking a snivelling toady and giving him a crush on the morally grotesque villain he follows around obsequiously is already a TERRIBLE idea, but the actual queerness is like 5 seconds of dancing. Literally the worst of both worlds.

He's Disney's quote unquote first gay character and he's an incompetent villian's sidekick who only exists for physical comedy and who's name literally means "the fool". He has one "explicitly gay scene" according to the director which is about 2 seconds of him dancing with another man, which was even cut from multiple showing of the movie. The actor Josh Gad even spoke about how much he disliked the handling of the character's sexuality.

one of disney's many first gay characters. they took a minor villain who is nothing more then a henchman and made him gay in the remake. for some reason. and advertised this Big Time. le fou is clearly attracted to gaston, although this is mainly implied/subtext. they did add some more storyline where he does a heel-face-turn that actually worked okay for his character. but the 'first official gay moment' in disney was just le fou and a random unnamed guy getting pushed to dance with each other at the end in a blink and you'll miss it moment. so much fuss. so little… anything.

Propaganda for Coach Bieste:

Introduced as a very masculine woman who was constantly made fun of for being "manly", but who was nevertheless a woman who wanted to be loved as such... only for the writers to later decide Bieste was actually a trans man after all. Of course this is a path that some trans men may experience, but it felt like it erased the extremely important messages of Bieste's earlier writing (such as being an adult who felt so ugly and unloved and she'd never been kissed, or how she was being abused by her more conventionally attractive husband but felt she couldn't say anything because she didn't believe anyone else would want her due to her masculinity and looks - and how nobody believed her at first because of her size/build). Additionally, Bieste's transition is handled very roughly, and overshadows the much more character-relevant story of Unique, a trans girl who was constantly sidelined or made into a joke (but that's another story).

The last days of the petition against conversion therapy are FASCINATING to watch. I have been following it pretty closely for almost a year now, and the progress was, above all, steady. There was this jump when some algorithm in Finland picked it up, but even that was local.

And now, everyone is panicking.

Which really shows.

These past three or four days, multiple countries have reached the threshold. Even more notably, the number of signatures in total, the ones that we need to get one million of, are growing rapidly. There are only 400'000 signatures missing. Two days ago, it was closer to 600'000.
