When asked about Pronouns

I like to say mine are assumptive (half just to see what people assume). However, I believe gender to be a spectrum. Such that, everyone could be considered nonbinary, as there are no binary points at any one end of such a complex range. Therefore, making they/them pronouns perfectly appropriate to use for anyone when meeting for the first time (unless they say otherwise, of course).

She/her are my pronouns, I was born a woman and I will die one. My womb is a sacred space of power, life, and origin. Everyday I recognize the strength in my womanhood, I only feel more compelled to claim my ‘sex’.

They/them happens to be a way I am sometimes perceived. It affirms my beliefs in the way gender is experienced and perceived, it makes me feel more attached to the greater community of queerhood and punks. I am simply a human existing and experiencing this Earth similarly, but also very different from you. Recognizing and imposing an alternative “identity” on me—ignoring the usual assumption of femininity— only deepens both of our experiences in this moment of connection and allows me to recognize in you an ability to revoke initial judgements and think/interact critically with your world. It’s a respect thing.

In either instance, you are not wrong for using my binary or perceived pronouns, both I am comfortably attached to— just with very different relationships to each.
