CH: * Perhaps I’ll dye one my matesprit’s color and braid it into my hair.

CH: * It will probably look ridiculous, but since I walk around in swim shorts and flip-flops all the time anyway, ridiculous would not be a new look on me.

CH: * I don’t believe I have a use for yarn, unfortunately, but if you have some felt that would be very handy.

CH: * My particular hobby is bookbinding and book repair. I could use colorful felt for coloring casual notebooks, or a stiffer felt for backing tooled leather so the textural detail doesn’t get flattened.

CH: * I haven’t attempted dyeing Eagledad’s feathers. That’s a good idea. I’d be grateful for instruction on the process.

WT: •and felt ain't hard i can definitely get some made up for you right quick, not like i ain't got enough wool layin around to bind all the books in the universe

WT: •as for dye it's way easier than you might think about all you need's a pot of water, somethin to heat it, and somethin to color

WT: •maybe some vinegar if you're goin for natural dyes or usin coffee or tea for gettin a nice brown or if your lusus' feathers are real oily and need to get the grease stripped off

WT: •but you can really just use food dye or those packets of flavored juice powder, you know, the ones you have to add like a fuckin double-handful of sugar to to make even remotely drinkable

WT: •what you do is soak your uncolored feathers in water and a splash of vinegar, then add whatever colors you want with food coloring or colored juice powder or throwin in some tea leaves or... you know, whatever's got a dye you want in it

WT: •(vinegar ain't always needed but it does help colors soak in)

WT: •anyway bring the water up to a boil with feathers and dye and all in it and keep it boiling until the feathers are as dark as you want and there you go

WT: •then pull them out and let them dry and fuckin tah-dah you've got dyed feathers (or wool or silk or whatever) (works on any kind of animal product to be honest)

WT: •and the basic idea of "dye and boilin water" works for anything you wanna try i've done cool stuff by shovin wet yarn into a coffee mug, sprinklin some juice powder on top, and puttin that shit in the microwave, or dippin different ends of a skein into different colors a dye, or whatever
