sentiments like "kill all white people" or "kill all men" or "eat the rich" are so pathetically harmless that getting mad about them makes you look like an idiot. like a. they're never going to happen and b. those categories don't exist as like, an irrefutable fact of life that can't be changed; they're social categories that only exist in opposition to those designated as outside of the category. There are not roving gangs of BLM activitists or femnazis or poor people carrying pitchforks and torches and dragging white people/men/rich people out of their homes and killing them in the streets. And failing that, there's no like, coherent to that being something that happens in society. Mass violence is always enacted against minorities and vulnerable people - taking 'kill all white people' seriously makes you sound like a conservative buying into the great replacement bullshit. Its not gonna happen and you're a pathetic loser for thinking it will.
furthermore, when you do get mad about such empty hyperbole, you've failed a skill check. the very fact that you're insecure about you or someone you know getting caught in the crossfire reveals that on some level you believe you're a rightful target for that sentiment. it shows that you have more reflexive solidarity for oppressor classes than you do their victims, that you are more threatened by actionless rhetoric than the harms already being done by those oppressors every day.
when confronted with this moment, you have two choices. you can admit you're wrong, do some self-reflection, and at worst just learn to ignore such jokes rather than react to them. or you can double down, point at the backlash as proof of the very violent tendencies you were afraid of, and if you play your cards right you might even wind up with a five figure podcast deal on a conservative radio network sponsored by raytheon and fanduel. there's no middle ground. there might be if this was an issue with literally a single ounce of actionability, but it's not, it is just a vent-joke, so you can either learn to take one on the chin or you can be a huge asshole that no one likes for very good reason. which way western poster
