I’ve never found the representation of “my body on the outside doesn’t match my body on the inside” and “I’m a man/woman trapped in the wrong body” very accurate to my personal feelings, honestly. It’s always felt more like it’s not my body at all. When I look in the mirror I see myself as who I am, but when I look in the mirror without clothes I see myself with someone else’s body. The body isn’t mine and it feels like I’m seeing my own head frankenstiened onto someone else’s body. It’s almost like a reverse of how face blindness is depicted in shows and movies; I can recognize myself as the first quarter of my body but I don’t know who the person in the remaining third is. I don’t know whose body I have but it’s not mine and it never will be until I don’t have the parts that make it not mine.
