Does circumcision reduce the penis size?

In some countries, male circumcision is common. Some do it for religious reasons. Some do it for medical reasons. Many men around the world are living without their foreskins.

This article will answer the question: Does circumcision affect the penis size?

In 2016, researchers published a study in an international journal which was subsequently archived in the United States National Library of Medicine.

The study investigated the relationship between the newborn male circumcision and the penis size in adulthood.

In 72 men who were circumcised as children, the average penis size was 12.97 centimeters (5.11 inches).

In 176 men who were not circumcised as children, the average penis size was 13.75 centimeters (5.41 inches).

The average penis size was bigger in men who were not circumcised as children.

If you are a man, you will know that the wrinkles and foreskin of your penis get stretched when you get an erection. In other words, the wrinkles and foreskin are spare skin your penis has for erection.

If you remove the foreskin, you may not get a full erection because you do not have enough skin. If you remove the foreskin when you are a child, it can interfere with the growth of your penis.

Circumcision negatively affects the penis size.

한국에서는 포경수술을 많이 해 왔다. 요즘 들어서는 줄어드는 추세다. 그래도 많은 남성들이 포피가 제거된 채로 생활하고 있다.

이 글에서는 포경수술이 성기 크기에 영향을 끼칠까라는 질문에 답해 보겠다.

2016년에 국내 5개 병원의 의료진이 공동으로 연구를 해서 국제학술지에 논문을 실었다. 이것이 미국 국립 의학 도서관에 수록되었다.

해당 논문은 신생아 때 포경수술을 한 사람과 하지 않은 사람이 성인이 되었을 때 음경 길이를 측정해서 비교했다.

결과를 보면 표로 정리되어 있다. 

어릴 때 포경수술을 한 72명의 평균 음경 길이는 12.97센티미터였다.

어릴 때 포경수술을 하지 않은 176명의 평균 음경 길이는 13.75센티미터였다.

어릴 때 포경수술을 하지 않은 쪽이 음경이 긴 것으로 나타났다.

남자라면 알겠지만 음경이 발기를 할 때 주름과 포피가 펴지면서 길어지고 두꺼워진다. 주름과 포피는 발기를 위해 남겨둔 여분의 피부라고 볼 수 있다.

포피를 제거하면 피부가 부족해서 발기가 완전히 되지 않을 수 있다. 어릴 때 포경수술을 하면 성기의 성장도 저해할 수 있다.

포경수술은 성기 크기에 부정적인 영향을 끼친다.

Do Korean men have small penises?

I was browsing a forum. People were talking about the penis. They said, “Korean men have the smallest penises in the world.” I said, "We don’t." They mocked me for being in denial.

I couldn’t believe it. I know my size and other Korean men’s. The average Korean penis size couldn’t be 9.66 centimeters (3.8 inches). I am not saying Korean men are big. The number didn't seem probable.

On this map, South Korea is the smallest at 9.66 centimeters (3.8 inches).

Many sites cite the same number.

Do different races have different penis sizes?

The penis size is a much-discussed topic in human history. Some men are rather interested in comparing their penis with other men's.

There are many comparisons of the penis size on the Internet. But when you examine these sites, you will see these points:

1. There are no proper sources.

2. The studies are not found in Google Scholar, a search tool for scientific studies.

3. The studies’ data does not match the sites’ data.

In other words, these sites are unreliable.

Yet people cite these sites and spread stereotypes regarding the manhood of men around the world. They emphasize the alleged difference in the penis size among different races, often with mocking remarks.

이런 표도 돌아다닌다. 어디서 나온 걸까?

논문은 구글 학술검색에서 찾을 수 있다. 그런데 이런 사이트에는 출처도 없다.
