Do you have any recommendations for finding lost objects?
Frankly, your best bet is probably to seek the aid of a talented Dowser.
However, you could also try to use this long-distance location ritual to find what you’re looking for—it’s just quite a tricky rite to actually undertake successfully.
Also, as an Acolyte of the Spider, I would be remiss if I failed to mention this excerpt from Cory Thomas Hutcherson’s ‘New World Witchery: A Trove of North American Folk Magic’;
“Spiders can also be used to help find lost things in Appalachian folk magic, if one says the following charm to a spider in her home: ‘Spitter, spitter spider, tell me where the [lost object] is and I’ll give you a drink of cider.’”
That is the extent of this entry in the aforementioned text, but one can assume that, upon the retrieval of the lost object, a small offering of cider is to be left out as a token of reverence to the Spider.
Fairies and Second Sight
Gaining second sight could depend upon nothing more than the time of your birth. A Lincolnshire woman told one folklorist that she had been born at twilight and could see things that other people couldn’t. However, it also meant that she hesitated to go out at twilight, because she often saw things that terrified her. Being in the right place, at the right time, might also be significant.
In one Scottish case, a child left asleep upon a fairy knoll came away from the spot endowed with the second sight. Whether this was a matter of the place alone, or the result of an intervention by the sith folk because they had chosen to favour the infant, we cannot tell.
It seems that the second sight may also be obtained through faery food. Cromek recorded that a person invited inside a fairy hill to feast with the inhabitants went away afterwards with the second sight, implying that consuming the food itself – or perhaps the proximity to the fairies during the meal – could have been the source. If it was the food, this will of course be in stark contrast to the usual outcome, in which the person eating faery food in Faery becomes trapped there.
Another example of this same process comes from Skye – and significantly takes place on human terrain rather than inside a faery hill. Two men were out peat cutting. One paused and wished for a drink of milk, in response to which a faery women appeared and gave him exactly what he hoped for. He drank gratefully, but his friend refused for fear of faery influence. The one who had partaken found that he could see a host of faeries throwing darts at his companion. Conversely, food products less favourable to the sith folk may inhibit our ability to see them. Hence, on the island of Skye, it was believed that as oats were not a proper food for the faeries, any person who wished to be able to see them should not have oats about themselves when they went out in the hope of encountering them – although normally carrying oats was recommended as a protective measure for travellers.
Close physical contact with the fairies seems to be fundamental to many transfers, as is seen in Enys Tregarthen’s 1940 story of the fairy child Skerry Werry. A lost fairy child was taken in and cared for by a widow on Bodmin Moor. The longer the little girl stayed, the better the old woman’s ‘pixy sight’ became, so that she could see the pisky lights on the moor.
A third example of transfer by bodily contact is even stranger: an old Somerset woman who used to nurse those who were sick was one day walking to a well for water when a moth brushed against her face. This gave her the pixy-sight and she immediately saw a little man, who asked her to go with him immediately to tend his seriously ill wife. Then again, close association with faerie kind on a regular and prolonged basis can certainly convey second sight.
Once one person has the gift, others can benefit from it. Contact with the gifted individual, either by touching them or by looking over a shoulder, will reveal the fairies to the second person as well. Be warned, though. The fairies object to uninvited intrusions and to any behaviour they regard as spying. There is a Victorian report of a case from Wrexham in which a fairy blinded a person just because he looked at it.
Seeing through the fairies’ glamour risks exposing those aspects of their conduct that they might rather keep concealed from us (their propensity for stealing our property perhaps being the least of them). Knowing their secrets can put us in peril, so that it is possibly rash to wish too fervently for knowledge of their hidden world.

This is how it goes: God whispers in Cain’s jealous ear, drawing his attention to the Sin crouched at his doorway. Sin has haunted eyes and a mouth that has been kissed. Let there be no doubt that Sin has been kissed, with a wet-red mouth that may taste of blood or pomegranate or the electric crackle of a stoplight. Cain looks at Sin. He runs his tongue over his teeth.
This is how it goes: Cain leaves the house at one am in bare feet and a hoodie, careful to avoid the last stair that creaks, and treks out into the Field. There are many fields in the world but there is only one Field. Cain feels the difference in the grass when he crosses the border from field to Field, the way the grey-green blades stand up at attention in his wake, the way the dirt turns ice-cold and furious beneath his heels. The earth is good with foreshadowing. The tree of Knowledge has deep roots.
This is how it goes: God says, I will take you or your brother.
God says, You get to choose.
And Cain says, “When you split me and my brother in the womb, you did not divide us evenly. He got kindness, and I got longing. He got complacence, and I got ambition. I want to kill him sometimes. I think sometimes he wants to die.”
I have never made brothers before, God explains. That is how I thought they were made. What more do you want?
“I want to steal some of his kindness,” Cain says, and shakes his pocket knife out of his sleeve.
Back at home, Abel sits up in his bed with a start, heart racing. That was close, he thinks, that was a damn close one, and does not know why.
In the Field, the ground warms as blood seeps into the dirt.
THE WITCHES' SABBAT
The Witch Sabbat is an old rite. It is a rite of congress with gods, the dead, spirits, and other witches. All is ONE at the Sabbat.
The Sabbat is sometimes a physical event, and at other times a visionary event. Or usually both at once. Historically, the Sabbat expressed itself at certain auspicious times, such as May Eve or Midsummer Night, or every Thursday, or Friday. It is my understanding the Sabbat is always occurring -- it is we, as witches, who join in the dance.
A RITUAL TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SABBAT
Lay a circle in the way you are familiar with (if that is your desire). Have with you an instrument you can play as you dance, icons of the witching gods, candles, incense, flying ointment, a stang, anything that conjures up the Witches' Sabbat for you. Set up your space as though the celebration were to occur right there on that very spot (for, indeed, it is doing just that).
Place a candle or a fire in the center of the circle. Smear ointment on your skin, chanting "Eman Hetan, Eman Hetan, from here to there, from here to there."
Dance. Call up the gods of witching. Shout and shake, shiver and tremble. Sing the Sabbat song:
Har Har, Hou Hou, Danse ici Danse la, Joue ici Joue la, SABBAT SABBAT HO HO HO!
Let yourself collapse to the floor, and fly. Fly swift and far to the Sabbat mount, to Venusberg and Brocken. What happens there only you may know. There are no witnesses at the Sabbat.
To return, say "Rentum tormentum!" Lay offerings for the spirits and gods, and depart from that place.
The Sabbat is always occurring -- it is we who join in the Dance.
so... i woke up at 1:30 am bc my brain is full and the first thing that came to mind is... Latinamerica is collapsing and i wonder if the rest of the world knows.
if it doesn't, then maybe it should, so, i wanna explain:
México🇲🇽
we are actually about to run out of water: 85% of the mexican territory is in a draught, the worst in 30 years, they say. and there's lakes that are disappearing.
government is spreading "tips" and "infographics" about how to save some water when they're allowing companies like coca-cola and pepsi; cemex, bonafont and bimbo to have leverage in aquifers and they let them own basically 70% of the water in the country thanks to the National Waters Law (Ley de Aguas Nacionales)
oh and just last night (may 3rd) the 12th metro line collapsed in México City and 23 people died. everyone is blaming it on the 2 previous governments' corruption for using cheap materials and rushing to finish it and inaugurate it before it was actually ready
Honduras🇭🇳
same as México, they're running out of water, so far three states are totally out of it, which is around 1.4 million people.
the press has been calling it the worst draught in the history of the country SINCE LAST YEAR
besides the government has stopped buying vaccines and they're leaving around 70% of the population without a vaccination...
Paraguay🇵🇾
there's no space left in the hospitals, the government stole the 1.6k million usd loan that the country got for health care related buys during the pandemic and left the hospitals alone to their luck. people have to sell their things; from their TV's and fridges to their cars, houses, bodies... there's actual people recurring to prostitution so they can buy medicine the government is supposed to be providing
Brasil🇧🇷
Guatemala🇬🇹
they've been having a hard economic crisis; again, surprise surprise, the government has stolen 14 million quetzales (1.8million usd) that was destined to the healthcare department: since the pandemic started people has been fired by hordes, there's no jobs, there's no money, there's no more safe hospitals or doctors to work in them, or equipment. and the president approved the 2021 budget in the middle of the night and took away money from the health and the education departments, leading to massive protests that, as you have guessed, were repressed with police violence.
Costa Rica🇨🇷
government actually created an espionage agency, the UPAD, they're fining people for being outside hiding behind the excuse of the pandemic; which is making hospitals collapse, they passed a recessive tax reform, the Electoral Supreme Court was scammed in the latest elections and they're actually seeking to create a higher rank power, a "superminister", higher than a president, who can hold the three powers of the nation (dictatorship, everyone?)
Perú🇵🇪
they're enduring a huge political crisis, they have to chose a president and their only two options are: a leftist man that wants to take all the agricultural land and divide it in equal parts, doesn't support lgbtttiq rights, privatize almost all services and more reforms that would lead to massive firings AND a woman that it's being investigated for fraud and money laundering and that descends from one of the biggest peruvian dictators and wants to get him out of prison.
this uncertainty of course has made the usd price to sky rocket (because what else is new) and now the prices of everything are rising as well, and the wages? they're staying still
reports on the presidential debate
El Salvador🇸🇻
another political crisis: the president along with the congress (which is mostly sitting his party) dismissed and basically fired the judges of the supreme court and the attorney general. and recommended/nominated new ones from his party, opening the way to the totalitarianism and welp, the end of democracy in the country: dictatorship.
the people is outraged and the international community along with the America States Organization are rejecting this horrid violation to the Constitution of El Salvador but the panorama is still uncertain.
Colombia🇨🇴
the government of Ivan Duque just has been in the process of passing a tax reform to collect around 25 billion Colombian pesos (around 6.5k billion usd) through taxes without raising the minimum wages; this would throw the country in an economic crisis that would impact the lower and middle classes and it would take products off the basic market basket.
the people of Colombia have been marching and protesting about this and the government has replied with police violence, they have their own anti-raid police, the ESMAD, and they have orders to shoot to kill, the process now has paused because of the protest.
there isn't yet an exact number on the death count but what the people is sure of is that they're gonna try to hide it along with the number of rapings and tortures the police has been conducting.
Chile🇨🇱
in 2019 chilean government rose the price of the metro/subway and there were protests and marches and manifestations, which led, of course, to policial repression, this was a whole ordeal that was condemned by the UN, now, the people is tired that the same government hasn't dealt properly with the sanitary contingency so they starter planing a huge strike; dozens of worker unions planning to march on april 30th to show that they're millions and they want the president out.
then the president was acused of crimes against humanity before the International Court of Human Rights for the repression of the 2019 protests...
Venezuela🇻🇪
well, if you haven't heard about the venezuelan crisis, you've been living under a rock: it's been going on for more than 20 years, venezuelan people live under a dictatorship (fucking incredible we still have those in the world), the police kills people that march and manifest, citizens don't have dignified access to: public transport, gas and gasoline, electricity, food, water, medicine and medical equipment let alone the covid vaccine.
and when the venezuelan people wanna leave the mediocre and deplorable conditions in which their government had made them live? conditions in which if you don't die of sickness, you get killed by a cop or killed in a robbery or killed on a raid? if you don't die of hunger you die of thirst? they raised the passport prices! and so the venezuelan people as a lot of people in Latinoamérica have to illegally migrate; and we all know how that's seen.

Bad Alchemy Advice: Know Your Planets
Mercury
Often frosty on top and hot on the bottom, Mercury is a paradoxical planet that can keep hot drinks cold while simultaneously keeping cool drinks warm. Called “the great healer,” Mercury will lend power to any appendix before an appendicitis operation.
Mars
The red planet, Mars has command over communism, fast cars, and overly critical ink pens. The planet of desire and war is also where Canada is located, forging an iron grip on the maple syrup market.
Moon
The Moon is a planet now, and Earth is not even on the list, which may serve as a confirmation of Earth’s overall importance in the scale of things. The Moon has control over werewolves and how many movies about them can be made in one year.
Venus
This is where women are from. Men are also from here. Nonbinary people created Venus before returning to their own star system.
Jupiter
The planet of expansion, Jupiter can be hooked up to your car’s tires or an air mattress for 25 cents a minute.
Saturn
Saturn’s great rings remind the entire solar system that no one will ever have a bigger hat than Saturn. Saturn and Queen Elizabeth share the same haberdasher and thus take turns.
Sun
The Sun is a planet now, because in alchemy the rules don’t matter, the points are made up, and if it doesn’t work, you just say afterwards that the experiment was purely psychological, and the real knowledge was gained from the experience. Oh yeah, the Sun means gold in alchemy–it means you should go outside instead of trying to find the meaning of life on the internet.
Wimblebort
Wimblebort is thought to be a dwarf planet beyond the Kuiper Belt that controls the croaking of frogs, the falling of rain, and the audio quality of holding music for automated phone calls. Wimblebort is not in any official star charts or sky maps due to actually having been a stray volleyball that arced into a telescope’s path during an Astrophysicist Summer Camp outing, but no one wants to tell the truth about the incident, and thus the hoax is perpetuated.
A Charm to cure burns.
Charm to cure burns I love healing charms. And since I seem to be prone to burns (seriously, even with asbestos hands (I have worked in a kitchen and as a waiter for years) turns out you can still get burns.) it is something that has proved quite useful to me. So, this is for minor and mild burns on the skin. Best to do this asap. When the burn is little, do this before rinsing with lukewarm/tepid water. Be quick and don’t wait too long. So it is best to learn this by heart. Don’t try to treat serious burns with just this, get medical attention immediately. Charms and healing magic can come after medical attention.
At the end of each spoken line, gently blow on the burned area (gently!)
Fire of God (gentle breath) Lose thy heat (gentle breath) As Judas lost his color (gentle breath) When he betrayed our Lord (gentle breath) In the garden of olives (gentle breath) Amen, Amen, Amen (gentle breath)
Repeat for a total of three times, seal the working. And remember; if a serious burn, see a professional asap. Please.
Still one of my favorites.

Interacting With the Fae!
Going along my path of working with the Fair Folk, I have tweaked some of my own guidelines when interacting with them. I had a post about Faery Etiquette that I decided to remove because looking back on it, many of the tips should’ve have been elaborated on so this is my new and improved tips for interacting with faeries.Theses guidelines have come from folklore, books and my own experiences!
Expressing Gratitude
One of the hardest things for beginner fae workers to understand is the rule of not saying “Thank You” to the Fae. There are many theorised reasons why you shouldn’t say this particular phrase because it might be taken as you are being dismissive or you admitting debt to them. Now, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be grateful towards them, instead of quickly saying “thank you”, take your time to express gratitude towards them. One method is to pay back what they have blessed you with! This means setting out an offering of small trinkets, food or drink with the intention of showing gratitude. If you find yourself unable to set aside an offering or you would rather be short and sweet, try rephrasing “Thank you” in other words like “I appreciate this gesture….” or “I’m very grateful for…”
Names
It is best to not tell the Fair Folk your full name and this goes for any spirit. Names hold power and you wouldn’t go around giving just anyone the ability to hold power over you. If you go by a name different than your birth name, I still wouldn’t give them your current name. When they ask for an introduction you can give them a nickname or false name but phrase it so you aren’t technically lying about your name, for example “You may call me *insert new name*”
Honesty and Politeness
Faeries are very different beings from us humans so you should treat them with the utmost respect as to not upset and get yourself into a tricky situation. The Fair Folk are very honest beings and respect the truth so they expect us to be just as honest as they are, so do not lie! There is the belief that fairies cannot lie but it is unsure if that is myth or not. Although the Fae are very honest, they are very skilled at twisting their words and speaking in rhymes so make sure that you do not take everything they say as the straightforward truth. I would not recommend that you try at twisting your words when talking to them because that may get you into some trouble also so it is best that you either speak the truth or keep quiet. Apologies are very important but just like the rule with “Thank you” you shouldn’t say “Sorry”!!This can also be confusing but just show your apology in different way because the phrase can be seen as lazy or dismissive so try setting out an offering to appease them.
Visiting their Realm
If you find yourself visiting the Faerie Realm, always err on the side of caution!!!! This goes for any spirit or astral work! You are stepping into a land that is unknown to you and has many of it’s own rules and customs. Take the countries of our own realm for example, North American countries are very different when it comes to countries in Europe or Asia and it is expected when you visit a different country you try to learn and follow those customs to be polite. Be polite and respectful of the beings that live there but also be cautious of their intentions. Fae workers must realize that not all fae have good intentions but then again not all fae are malicious so be wary when interacting! When visiting have your spirit guides or a trusted fairy guide you through the realm so you don’t get into trouble.
Food & Gifts
Many old folk tales describing interactions with the fair folk often warn against the consumption of food in the spirit realm. For example in the story of Hades and Persephone the pomegranate Persephone eats ties her to the Underworld or in Japanese legend the goddess, Izanami was trapped in the Underworld because she had consumed the food there. Folk tales from the British Isles say that the food of the Faerie realm tastes heavenly but is often enchanted so that whoever would eat it would be placed in a trance. But who knows if these tales are true so as I said before, always be cautious with faeries. Morgan Daimler states in her book Fairycraft, that “When in the Irish Otherworld it is a bad idea to eat or drink anything, and if its offered to you find a way to very politely decline; on the other hand if in one of the Norse Fairy Worlds- ljiossalfheim or svartalfheim, for example-it is acceptable to take food and drink and is worse to refuse than accept it. Should you be in a Fairy world that is not Norse or Celtic try to learn the expected customs first..” (Daimler, 2016)
Fairy Gifts are a very tricky subject I find but here is how I go about it! Trust your intuition when accepting gifts! Declining gifts from the Fae can be considered disrespectful to them so if you receiving a gift from a trusted faery then accept but if you are unsure about the side effects of accepting then either kindly decline or accept it and cleanse the gift. Just be wary that the faery may expect something in return for the gift so be prepared to give them an offering.
