“At work, you put yourself in a box. You know, you speak up enough to show you’re not a pushover but not enough to be a bitch. They tell a joke, you tell an even racier one. You figure out which pants hug your ass a little too tight, and you save those for your days off. A person like you… Lala, if you put yourself in a box at home, too, something’s got to give.”

“You wanna talk about it?”
MAN this scene! Watching Lala start to slip up and everyone giving her shit for it instead of caring was so well portrayed I genuinely got pissed lol. And then Vera completely understanding her and being the only one in Lala’s corner.. god their friendship is one of the best things in the show. Also you just gotta love Strickland in general :,)
(The soft, intimate way in which Strickland delivers that line… insert the Lorax floating away gif)
fiyero's point of view of part one is hilarious. He leaves elphaba and glinda to themselves for one day and now Elphie is wanted by the government and glinda is technically a prisoner/is kissing up to the wizard and super sad about Elphie. The throuple is in danger and now he's left to hold the braincell.

a/n: A friend, hoping to spark some creativity, hosted a mini promptathon and months later, I am slowly getting around to editing and posting the little oneshots and drabbles I managed to come up with. This was written in approximately September 2023.
summary: Lucy miscalculated or misread or just plain made a mistake. She had really truly believed they were waiting, anticipating, the same future. She had been wrong. She'd probably be wrong again in the future, but for now, it was time to focus on moving on.
Well shit, Henry Jenkins, out here in 1997 dropping truth bombs
Oh hey I need this for a research paper I'm writing, thank you!
i mean he had been out here since 1988 dropping such bombs:
"'fandom' is a vehicle of marginalized subcultural groups (women, the young, gays, etc.) to pry open space for their cultural concerns within dominant representations; it is a way of appropriating media texts and rereading them in a way that serves different interests, a way of transforming mass culture into a popular culture"
Jenkins, Henry. “Star Trek Rerun, Reread, Rewritten: Fan Writing as Textual Poaching.” Critical Studies in Mass Communication 5, no. 2 (1988): 85–107. https://doi.org/10.1080/15295038809366691.
there are even some earlier works in fan studies but that’s what i have ready to hand.
Henry's been amazing for a long time.
Kelly, the simple truth is that you are magic to me. Whenever I’m at my lowest, you lift me up. You never leave my side.
