a few years ago there was an exposé in the intercept about how, according to the fbi, police departments are so thoroughly infiltrated by white supremacists that it's policy to avoid working with them when possible. just something to think about

Bureau policies have been crafted to take into account the active presence of domestic extremists in U.S. police departments.

yeah, the FBI put out a report that showed active purposeful infiltration of both the military and police by white supremacists. The FBI included a list of steps to take in order to help prevent this including things like updated lists of identifying tattoos and specific screening measures. The military said fuck we thought we were getting them all, thank you, and started implementing all the recommended procedures almost immediately.

The U.S. Police Union wrote the FBI back a letter that basically said “fuck you you can’t tell us who we can and can’t hire” and then the funding for that FBI investigation got suddenly yanked.

This win does not mean everything that has happened in the United States this year or over the years should be forgotten.

Black Lives Still Matter. Police Brutality is very much still present in the american system. White Supremacists unfortunately still exist. Sexism unfortunately still has a place in society. Women are still not considered as equal.

LGBTQIA people matter. BIPOC matter. Racism is not okay. Being ISLAMOPHOBIC is not okay. Climate Change is real. Science is real.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done. We rejoice today and tomorrow we got back to educating ourselves, educating our community, learning about our privileges and doing our best everyday to make our environment a better place and hence make the world a better place.

This!! ^ Celebrate Trump loosing, I did too, but please don’t forget that Biden is still bad. He’s your garden variety corporate shill establishment dem who isn’t even really liberal but rather a centrist who occasionally offers some progressive points while never affecting any real change.

Racism and police brutality will continue. Senseless violence in the middle east and interventionalism in South America will continue. The subjugation of the worker will continue.

For now, we can feel relieved, but don’t think the fight is over. Don’t start relaxing now.

An ironic parallel considering the idea of “tough love” parenting that plenty of boomers like to use. If they buy into the idea that their kids just have to toughen up and face the real world without guidance or emotional support, I’m sure it does scare them to read a story where someone who wasn’t given any support began to resent their creator and turn on them.

Another black man was murdered by the police.

Rayshard Brooks was shot by Atlanta police last night (06/12/2020) during a traffic stop. The 27-year-old was transported to the hospital where he would die.

According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, this will be the 48th case of police shooting in 2020 that they are being told to investigate.
