Lolololololol, it hadn't occurred to me that Jimmie has been trying to dodge Natalia. They should do a shot-reverse shot of each other, Natalia directly filming Jimmie as Jimmie photographs Natalia.
I wish Natalia and Daria would approach Jimmie and get a word with him on the vlog. He's photographed Daria and her colleagues for years for the WTA, if not since the moment of her breakthrough, and the players seem for the most part happy to spot him.
The man behind the camera is mostly a mystery outside his social media posts, which are primarily job related (his schedule is as long as the day's play goes; photos he posts on social media tend to have more casual captions, commentary, or anecdotes) and interactions with fellow staff and players. I was quite confused to see his photos credited to Robert Prange on sites like Getty and have wondered where "Jimmie" derives from. He travels almost as much as the tour; he doesn't do all the tournaments but covers all the major, high-level ones. He, too, had to make the journey from Guadalajara to Tokyo and, like the players, has to negotiate his schedule to sometimes either cover an entire event and miss the beginning of the next or bail early on one and miss the final rounds.
I'm very curious if Jimmie would be amenable to being on the vlog. He speaks of Daria with warmth and it's evident he finds Natalia a compelling subject for his lens in her own right. But he doesn't seem like someone who wants to be in front of the camera. Photos I've seen of Jimmie are taken by others either in candid moments or by colleagues in downtime, not selfies. So many curious characters they could wrangle. I want them to get WTA reporter Courtney Nguyen on the vlog so that Courtney can make Daria do her impression of Courtney's supposedly California accent, which Courtney has mentioned a couple times but for which no video or audio record exists.

What is happening in Montreal (source)? By which I mean not the football/soccer, which is not an unusual promo event, but Daria Kasatkina and Jelena Ostapenko being teammates and chummy. lol Somehow the reconfiguring of an historically frosty relationship continues to happen in 2023 with assists and chest bumps(?!). (Great assist from Donna Vekic as well who totally legally tangles up the goalkeeper.)
Hahahahahahahahahaha. From "I don't know her" to goal celebrations.
Team WTA from left to right: unknown (staff?), Donna Vekic, Daria Kasatkina, Leo (Azarenka's son), Victoria Azarenka, Jelena Ostapenko. It bears repeating that Kasatkina is not a short woman at 170cm/5'7" but she's the shortest WTA player in this lineup. By like a lot. Lol The funniest thing, though, is that Daria is mic'd up--this is going in the vlog in some form.
They looked like they had fun. Vekic maybe not quite into it as the others. Lol
Kasatkina was on Team WTA five years ago, too, in Montreal. She was not the shortest! Daria Saville (then Gavrilova) was. Lol
A cosmic injustice is that Ons Jabeur is not playing Montreal (out with injury), so that means she couldn't be put on Team WTA, which is sad because seeing Daria and Ons play together would probably be fun. In Eastbourne, filming promo stuff, Daria said this in the vlog after putting up a 36 in keep-up:
The reason why:
Ons actually played on a team in her youth before committing to tennis so no surprise that she has skills. I feel like Ons and Daria would have a blast playing together. Somehow it hasn't happened that they've done a football/soccer promo activity together despite it being well known that each loves the sport. Daria is definitely on the call sheet whenever the WTA does anything football/soccer related at a tournament. Lol
If I made a line call and the umpire overruled it I would just never say anything ever again
