“Oh my god, you know you are always welcome on our couch. Just please come inside before we wake the neighbors.”
“The neighbors?” She looked around for a second seeing few lights turn on. “Yes I think that’s too late” She then added with a chuckle as she entered her house. “You’re amazing Arwen, really you are”
One of Vince’s pet peeves was people pushing a subject he clearly did not want to talk about, so he made sure he never did the same. He didn’t want to ask her any further questions, but he was very concerned when she mentioned a man stalking her. “You’re free to stay as long as you need. Focus on getting some rest first, then we’ll deal with him.” He cleared the sofa, moving his guitar and some notebooks, so she had space. “Can I get you anything? Water, food, something?”
Carmen sat down on the couch once he had cleared everything off it, but when she saw the guitar she furrowed her brows together. “No darling, you really don’t have to give me anything. Allowing me to stay here tonight is more then enough” She assured him before pointing towards the guitar. “I didn’t know you could play” She said with a slightest hint of a smile caressing her cheeks.
alexander rolled his eyes at her. “ what? are teachers not allowed to go out and have a good time just because they’re teachers? “ he asked her. “ it wasn’t some crazy school night party, i just got invited out by an old friend for the evening. nothing too crazy. “ he laughed, shutting the door behind her. “ what are you doing out so late huh? “
“They’re not allowed to go out and have a good time without inviting me, because let’s be honest teachers may look boring but they’re the best people to party with” She told the dark haired man as she walked past him, biting down on her lower lip as he questioned her why she was out so late. “Well you’re not the only one who likes to go out and have a good time” She told him as she folded her arms over her chest, arching her brow. “I was with a guy I know, he lives in this neighborhood. Too bad he turned out to be an asshole”
“Tish-tosh, who says you were bothering me? You know, A lot of people don’t know this but I actually love waking up at three o’clock in the morning. I find it a really refreshing way to start the next day.” She said coming to join Carmen on the couch with a mug of hot Lady Grey and a generous amount of vodka. Evie’s face softened and her eyes were gentle, “and as much as I love spontaneous sleepovers, I would also want to know if you’re okay.”
A soft smile replaced the concerned frown on the rosy red lips as Evie sat down beside her. “I have no idea how to explain everything” She told the blonde haired girl, scoffing softly. Then for few minutes she sat there in complete silence, fixating on her tea. “It’s really complicated” She finally said with a shrug. “But I guess I’m okay”
“Carmen, what the hell?” Arwen whispered frantically. “I know it’s the weekend, but my parents are sleeping!”
“That’s why I’m being so quiet” She told her in a hushed voice but soon enough she began laughing, taking another sip from the bottle she was carrying. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry! but I was wondering if I could sleep on your couch, or under your bed. Either is fine with me!”
He hadn’t been planning on going to sleep anyways, he had just finished work and still had stuff to do before walking into the school hallways to deal with a couple thousand students in just a couple short hours so the girl standing at his door was no problem. “ It’s fine, I wasn’t asleep anyways. “ he said, opening his door wider for the girl to come in. “ I just got in. What’s wrong? “ he asked.
Few raindrops fell down on Carmen’s bare arms and in the distance she could hear a shouting so she couldn’t help but feel relieved once she entered his apartment. “You just got in?” She questioned him, trying her hardest to direct their conversation away from her situation. “were the teacher throwing another crazy school night party and I wasn’t invited?” She acted as if everything was fine, a big smile on her lips but it was quite obvious that everything wasn’t fine by the way she paced around his living room.
“No, no, it’s fine.” Vincent rubbed his eyes, still half-asleep. “Come inside.” He stepped out of Carmen’s way so she could walk in. “What happened?”
Carmen stepped inside his apartment, embracing the warmth that greeted her as soon as she escaped from the cold night. Then once he questioned her what had happened she cleared her throat, keeping her eyes on the ground. “I just can’t go home right now....” Her voice was low, but she had a soft smile on her red lips, as if she was trying to convince Vince that everything was fine. “There’s a man that’s been looking for me for quite some time, and he finally found out where I live, and now he’s outside my apartment waiting for me to come home”
“Well don’t just stand around like a lost puppy. I’ll be damned before I leave my girl out to dry.” She said taking the girl in her arm as she ushered her into the comforts of her motel room. She was still in her nightgown, but in such cases, sleep can wait. “How about something to warm you up? Tea? Vodka? Tea and vodka?”
Carmen ran her fingers through her raven hair and it fell down her back is if it was a silk. “Vodka and tea of course” She told the other girl, offering her a soft smile. “I’m truly sorry that I’m bothering you Evie” She apologized once more as she entered the motel room and allowed herself to drop down on her couch.
“I know” Carmen stood outside their door at three in the morning. “I know it’s late, and I really didn’t want to bother you, but I didn’t know what else I could do, I don’t have anywhere else to go”
