myarttoday 124: Wreck This Journal edition:: adding watercolors to random pages
I’ve seen people talk about struggling to use their Wreck This Journal because they can’t decide what to make. Despite the instructions, they are afraid of messing up. So I thought I’d tell you how I’m doing it.
I’m currently “Breaking my book in” in stages.
When I first got it, I held it and rolled it in my hands and bent the pages and the spine. I turned down corners of pages and folded some in half. I still do this when I’m thinking about doing something in it. The result is that my book feels like a bestseller at a used book store. It’s soft and welcoming. And it already bent up.
Now I’m in a color adding stage. I keep the book on my art table and whenever I have leftover paint, I open it up and find a page to add something to. Sometimes I paint the whole page one color. Sometimes I paint hearts or stars or dots or squares or grids. Sometimes I doodle little flowers. Usually the color I’m adding is unrelated to any prompt. I just want my book to be full of color.
My idea is that once the book has lots of colors in it and many pages have marks and tears and bends, it’ll be so much easier for me to do the “wrecking” prompts. I won’t be greeted with a pure white page. I won’t be worried about doing the wrong thing. If something is on the page and I want to change it, I can gesso it or collage it.

Found my old ‘wreck this journal’.
Who’s seen the Wreck it Ralph2 trailer?
Long time no see, tumblr! Anyone still here? :) Thought I’d share my latest - fruit and vegetables re-imagined as watercolor characters. There’s an amazing greengrocer near my London home, and for the last few months I have been going over there and picking green foods I found interesting and inspiring to create characters based on those. Hope you like it! And if you could spare a second to upvote my Bored Panda post that would be very nice of you ^_^ https://www.boredpanda.com/fruit-vegetable-watercolor-characters-marija-tiurina/ Happy last day of February!

Legendary Pokemon Watercolors made by Dragon-Fly
What if Lapras could fly^^ When I was a child, the episode with lonely Lapras made me sad. But if that Lapras will be able to fly, no one would be able even to touch it :) Inspired by butterfly koi mostly, awesome fish 💙
A quick flip-through of Journal no. 4.
