This is something I worked on over the weekend. I want to shoot for an art style that makes everything look painted so I figured I’d go with some low-poly trees. I think this one might be a little too low-poly but I’ll probably be able to use it still. These trees have some color variation in the leaves, based on the tutorial here:

I like the idea of making the illusion of highlights and I kind of like the look, but we’ll see if it works well on other tree shapes and once I eventually figure out the lighting in the world and such. The way the leaves are layered might also not translate that well when looking up from the ground, which is the perspective this game will have, so I will need to experiment more.
