Heidi Greco responds to “Newspaper”, written by Marguerite Pigeon & illustrated by Derek von Essen
We know about ekphrastic poems – those that take their inspiration from works of art. Think: Kate Braid’s To This Cedar Fountain, her homage to Emily Carr’s paintings. But poetry as art – even...

Another reblogged photo of mine with copyright watermark cropped out. At least this person credits me, even if he/she doesn't care for copyright. But now my photo is out there in the world with no name, no contact.

Slumbrr. A lot of people dump their old mattress and expect someone else to deal with it.
Art auction site, Artbomb, has daily offerings of some pretty fab stuff—like my painting today. Bid till the cows come home. A direct link: http://www.artbombdaily.com/details/547 Some information about the work: I will often create a body of work, in this case paintings from a series entitled "Home" (2004) and not offer for sale the pivotal pieces which work as a marker in time for me. Sometimes it's the content, other times a new technique or change in direction. "Home" was about working, living, loving, and dreaming in the same place, and while "Rendering Progress?" somewhat dates itself with a CRT monitor, the painting's focus was on the transcribed subject lines from all the spam email I was getting. Spam filters are now certainly better than they were back then! ARTBOMB is auctioning "Rendering Progress?" today Thursday, October 24 and though I've kept it under my wing for almost 10 years, I'm letting it go because it's time to move on. The painting symbolises independence for me as it was done in reaction to all the email crap I'd got, but mostly the suggestions I'd received at the time about how I shouldn't add so much text to my paintings, that I should focus on painting and give up design, that I should do this and that, blah, blah, blah...and how I didn't listen to anyone and did what I wanted.

Ongoing photo series, Slumbrr. It's all about the crap we sleep on—then throw out.

Of course I'll reblog this photo WHICH I SHOT IN 1990 and someone took the liberty to remove my watermark and post on Tumblr (along with many others from this show). It seems to be all over Tumblr and the web so I guess it's popular. Yet I still wonder if anyone cares that this photographer who never made any money from it 25 years ago, continues to have his work unattributed and free out there. All you young photographers—keep the value of your work in mind, or it will be valued as worthless.
