Devansh raises a brow, arms casually crossed, the edge of a smirk tugging at his lips. “Okay, damn. No doggo jokes. Got it.” He leans back in his chair, firelight flickering across his features from the nearby training pit. “Didn’t realize someone woke up with teeth this morning.” His tone is light, teasing, but there’s a glint of something sharper in his gaze. Not fear. Not quite. “You bite all your coworkers, or am I just lucky?” He picks at a piece of dried paint under his fingernail, then flicks it aside with a sigh. “Look, I don’t know what crawled up your spine today, but I’m not here to yank your tail.” The words are dry, offhand, like he’s testing something, maybe watching to see how Ali reacts. “You good? Or do I need to get you a chew toy before your next shift?” Devansh’s voice softens just a touch toward the end, still laced with sarcasm, but not cruel. He might not know exactly what Ali is, but he’s been around enough flames to know when something dangerous is simmering under the surface.

"You better." Alistair frowned as he folded his arms across his chest. Sure, he hadn't told any of his colleagues what he was. of course he wouldn't. The last time he told anyone what he was, well one of the last, he was attacked. He needed to be more careful. He closed his eyes for a moment until his co worker just kept talking. "I'll punch you if you don't quit it." His eyes went back to focus on the flames as they danced in the pit. "I'm fine. Just, gotta a lot on my mind at the moment and the dog jokes aren't helping." He simply growled at the mention of tail and chew toy. "If you want to be useful, get me a coffee. That might help."
