Dev here, logging on to my Tumblr after 5 years to tell you you rock and did an awesome job with these.

A fun fact: Zack and Oswald were two of the main party members of an RPG Maker game my old TF2 friend group and I were working on back in 2016 (and used to be named Zach and Aaron). So they didn’t start as references to fighting games, but noticing the similarities with Alex and Oswald made me go back and add those in because I thought it’d be funny. (The latter was originally very clearly necromancer Waluigi... yes, really.)

Incidentally, Clive was based off one of the unlockable characters from an endless runner-type mobile game I played back in 2015/16, Steve was inspired by the secret agent enemies in Super Double Dragon/Double Dragon Advance (who in turn were references to the Matrix, I’m pretty sure), and there are a whole lot of other little things (like a million obscure wrestling in-jokes)... which I’m too lazy to make a big comparison image for now.

Anyway, it really brings me a lot of joy to see that people are delving into the stupid stuff I make so deeply--I’m super appreciative of it, and it’s this kinda thing that makes me want to keep going with it all.
