The new BIG 12 Branding video. Check it out. Thoughts?
This is one list we DO NOT need to be #1 at right now. But if we can come out of this non-conference schedule at least 2-2 then we should be set for an interesting conference run.
Despite struggling against William & Mary on Saturday, there are still signs that the West Virginia Mountaineers are a good enough team to possibly knock off the Oklahoma Sooners in Week 2...

Season Ticket Sales are Down for WVU Football
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Season ticket sales for West Virginia football games are down with less than a month to go before the start of the season.
Sports marketing director Matt Wells says WVU has sold 33,100 season tickets. More than 37,400 were sold last season, the Mountaineers' first in the Big 12.
Wells tells The Dominion Post (http://bit.ly/r8Ei4o) that sales of single-game tickets are strong for home games against Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Georgia State. Tickets for the Nov. 9 game against Texas are available only through a three-game package that also includes the Aug. 31 season opener against William & Mary and the late November game against Iowa State.
WVU started fall practice Thursday.

This is great news for WVU and Morgantown alike. Innovation coming out of the geeks of WVU! Congrats for the big write up on Mashable!
Early Favorites: NCAAF Teams to Watch in the 2013 Season
College football is known to be one of the purest games in the world. The players aim at showing their natural talent out in the field and focus more on the pride and glory of their institute. They aren’t paid for playing for the team and most of them hope to gain entry into the NFL through such college competitions. Most sports bettors aren’t aware of the fact that college football betting is one of the largest betting markets in the world of online bookmaking. One of the biggest reasons behind this is that the action isn’t just limited to the 14 weeks of the regular season. Football wagering is also available for the Bowl games that take place in the months of December and January. You can bet America waits for this event every year. Websites like www.wageronsports.com/wagering-strategy/college-football provide complete knowledge about how to wager on football and follow the right strategies to increase your chances of winning. For many enthusiasts, the previous season’s wins and losses would still be a recent memory. However, the oddsmakers who know football odds better than casual fans have already started making predictions for the upcoming 2013 season. For the diehard NCAA bettors, this is the perfect time to jump in and be a part of the early action. Those who love to wager on NCAA football, there would be no better time than now to channel their energy towards the gameplay of some of the early favorites of 2013. There are certain teams that are expected to perform brilliantly in the upcoming season. Alabama The Alabama Crimson Tide football team, representing the University of Alabama in the America Football Association matches, has won the previous two championships with their excellent performance. It is likely that they would be enjoying a hat-trick, something which is not seen very often as far as college football, or even fantasy football, is concerned. Though they have lost some players in this year’s NFL draft picks including Eddie Lacy (Running Back), Warmack, Fluker and Jones (Offensive Linemen) and Dee Milliner (Defence), the coach knows how to recruit a new lot and fill in those empty spots to get the team back on track. When all is said and done, Alabama is yet again the number one contender for this year’s title for the third time in a row. Stanford There won’t be much problem for the Cardinals. Stanford has always been one of the most physically strong teams in the league; and it appears no less strong this year. Though they have lost some of their key players to the NFL, they are no less resilient with four new offensive linemen and ten defense starters who managed to shut down Oregon’s prolific offense in the previous season. If any team can play each and every game with that smashing mentality, it is the Stanford Cardinal. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them locking horns with Alabama in the finals, as it wasn’t when the team ranked above all in the public polls. Oregon With Chip Kelly now being Philadelphia Eagles’ head coach, the Ducks are, to a certain extent, in a tough state this coming season. However, Mark Helfrich holds the capability to do exactly what David Shaw was able to with the Stanford Cardinals. Their offense will still remain to be the most prolific, high-flying and electrifying in the league.will still remain to be the most prolific, high-flying and electrifying in the league. It would also be amazing to look forward to how Mariota takes the reign of the team’s offense and manage to put some good points on the board after the departure of Barner, Dion Jordan and Kiko Alonso. Moreover, with QB Marcus Mariota returning after an extraordinary freshman year, along with De’Anthony Thomas, who can emerge as an elite in the game, the Oregon Ducks have all the required ingredients to make an appearance in the finals. With every team focusing more on honing their skills at hand, the 2013 season would definitely be a significant one in the history of college football. This can also be considered as a great time to support your favorite team by placing your bet online.
Part 2 of 2:
Former WVU center and NFL draft hopeful Joe Madsen joined the Jon Marks and Sean Brace Show on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia to discuss some of the negative reports floating around about Geno Smith – specifically Pro Football Weekly’s Nolan Nawrocki’s – as well as what kind of leader his QB was.
Part 2: Madsen on what type of leader Smith was - “He wasn’t a guy that would show emotion unless he needed to. You put him in a situation where he needed a guy to step up he was definitely the first one in his face. If things were going right, if the game was going good he was a laid back guy that you’d want to be around. He not a serious, all-the-time-gotta-be-on kind of guy but when he needs to be that’s when he turns it on.”
Part 1 of 2
I received an email the other day from 97.5 The Fanatic that had some interviews from Joe Madsen about Geno I thought you'd all be interested in hearing.
Here is the summary:
Former WVU center and NFL draft hopeful Joe Madsen joined the Jon Marks and Sean Brace Show on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia to discuss some of the negative reports floating around about Geno Smith – specifically Pro Football Weekly’s Nolan Nawrocki’s – as well as what kind of leader his QB was.
Part 1: Madsen’s reaction to Nolan Nawrocki’s negative evaluation of Geno Smith - “I would say it’s an April Fool’s joke, that’s what I thought it would be. Geno was the first one; me, him and the other seniors who were there that year were the first ones on everybody. To say that he doesn’t motivate a team, I mean, the guy who wrote that probably wasn’t there. He was never at the practices.”

This is the first time this season I've felt compelled to even look at a photo gallery of our Basketball Team, but the game the other night was great.
I'm checking out these photos with my Verizon Galaxy Note 2 and they look amazing.

Watch the Superbowl on your Verizon NFL Mobile App!! (with commercials)
Yep Mountaineers you can catch the Super Bowl live on the NFL Mobile app from Verizon. So even if you are on the road or at work (shhhhh), or your wife wants to watch Top Chef or something, you can still see the Ravens and 49ers battle it out – as the action unfolds – on February 3.
Don't have the app yet? Download the NFL Mobile app by calling STAR STAR NFL (**635).
Verizon Fans = AWESOME
Almost at the end of one of the best "blogger outreach" programs out there. This will be the first of many posts to come over the next few days to thank Verizon for including WVMountaineerSports.com. Honestly I've been with Sprint, Tmobile and Now Verizon and now that Morgantown has Verizon, I can honestly say it's by far the best Mobile network out there. It helped me blog and hit the social networks DURING the games this year, which I've never been able to do because the service in Motown sucks. So kudos to Verizon and the people involved in this program.
