Intro to anime: part 1
Hello you wonderful people of the internet! Animya here to show you guys what anime is and how to start the descent into the world of anime and the anime community. Here is the road to crazy, glomping, fangirls and pocky. Strap yourself down for a wild ride!
First of all, letās start out with what anime is in the first place so i donāt have to throw around the word and you are reading there like āwtf is she talking aboutā, so let me clarify.
Anime:
āa style of Japanese film and television animation, typically aimed at adults as well as children.ā thanks Google. Anime is for all ages (depending on what anime) and has many different genres and subgenres, thatās why when I hear someone say āI hate animeā I kinda wanna One Punch them in the face because the words that follow are usually ānah, Iāve never watched itā⦠How does one know something without the experience, I mean I get the response āitās not really for meā or āiām just not really into itā because that implies that you have watched some amount and was respectful but āI hate anime, no Iāve never watched itā is as ignorant and ignorant can be. I mean other than like meninists or something. Anyway back to the point which we floated away from, anime.
Now here are some good starting animes to introduce you to this crazy world (keyword: introduce. This is just the beginning)
(Thats Soul BTW)
Soul Eater
Soul eater is an anime filled with action and comedy with a good and stable plot. I think that this is a good starter because Itās one of the animes that I started with and I think itās an example of what quality anime is and can be. Once you fall in love with the characters, its hard to stop watching.
RWBY (pronounced Ruby)
Yes, yes I know. RWBY isnāt a real actual anime, but itās a good start to getting used to animation and voice acting and stuff. RWBY stands for the first letter in the first name of team RWBY (Ruby, Wiess, Blake, and Yang) it also stands for the colors. Some anime (more recently) have been showing a more 3D approach to the animation and it is used alot here. Action packed and good characters to follow. You can find this on Youtube or http://roosterteeth.com/episode/rwby-season-1-episode-1
Attack on Titan
Ok back to the anime. This is a very popular one that you probably already heard of. This anime will introduce you to the fandom life and a little of the craziness that is the community. Warning: LOTS OF DEATH IN THIS SHOW well not as much as the next one.
Death Note
Now Death Note is a show with a lot of death (hence the name). This anime is simply amazing and everyone should watch it. It is a very intellectual piece of art that features smarts and brain power. The conflict between the main character and the antagonist is just awesome to watch and to see the story unravel.
Those are just a few of the millions of shows you will watch when you get sucked into the world on anime. There will be a part two to this talking about the lingo that us avid anime watchers use to communicate what type of show it is or what type of character and so on and so forth

Lit in Show Band practice (at Duke Ellington School of the Arts at Garnet-Patterson)
Hello All,
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā My name is Ashley Marsh, and Iām a sophomore at Duke Ellington School of the Arts where I am instructed through both traditional and new media arts through writing. This project was an assignment for my Mass Media & Communications class, where students had to produce a music video with the song of their liking, experimenting with the narrative, soundtrack, lighting, etc.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā The song I chose was Erykah Baduās āCaint Use My Phoneā, from her newest mixtape themed with cell phones. With this song, I wanted to create a video that pairs with the lyrics well, and that is also visually appealing. The main theme throughout the video is telecommunication, and within that the she addresses all types of communication, which is seen in parts of the video.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Throughout editing the video, I encountered many challenges that diverted my time management. It seemed as though I would never finish, but in the end, I learned many things from trial and error through using several different online editing software. In the end, I created my music video using iMovie, a software pre-built into all Apple products. At first, I was too intimidated to edit on iMovie, having never used it before. It turns out that iMovie is probably one of the best platforms to use versus online editing software that may not work out in your favor. Below is the comparison of the main online editors that I used online, and a mini review. Later on, I will post a more extensive and insightful review on my main blog Inspo-101.

If The Lunar Chronicles Were A Movie . . .
Ā Okay so itās only been five months since the very last book of the Lunar Chronicles was released and letās be honest, everyone still hasnāt been able to afford this expensive book so this is still relevant. Ā I have finally finished the last book, Winter, and may I say, it was the most satisfying and happiest ending I could ever dream of. The crazy drama that went on had me on the edge of my seat and craving more. Speaking of craving more, I did here about the prequel āStars Aboveā and, uh, Iām good with this ending. I donāt think I need to know more about the characters backstories after reading about each of them like five times, each. Ā But any way, letās get to the meat of the discussion. Ā What if The Lunar Chronicles were made into movies? Ā It would be wonderful if that happened, but letās get things straight. 1. Every character is wonderful and individual. Ā You know what I hate what people do when they make movie adaptions from books ⦠take away characters or mix together two characters for a smaller cast. What. Is. That? I donāt want any of the characters from this book to just go away because whatās different about these books is that every character matters in a way. Someone moved the story along. Someone was important to the main characters. No one is small. No one should be taken away and have a few of their character traits passed on to someone who seemsĀ āmore importantā.Ā 2. These stories are based off of fairy tales. Ā But do they need to take a road thatās away from those tales? Absolutely not. Those tales are whatās unique about the stories. I know they are already very different from them, I mean, sometimes I forget that they are based off of fairy tales, but donāt try and make it itās own thing. Marissa Meyer was trying to make it, at least on the surface, like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Snow White.Ā
3. Donāt be afraid of backstory ⦠and the rest. Ā Itās not every time that every single book in the series gets a movie. If youāre gonna be like Harry Potter and do ALL of the books, donāt be afraid to let the characters explain the backstory in a way where itās a little quick and in some cases, a little vague. Itās a trick. It makes people want to actually read the book. If you give too much and drag it out, people will be likeĀ āWell whatās the point of reading the book when I got this!ā Come on, movie makers, held the authors put bread on the table(#authorslivesmatter). But at the same time, donāt drag it out so much and make it boring. No one will pay attention. I know the Lunar Chronicles is long, but it works for it. Donāt be like Beautiful Creatures where they wanted to take the easy route and try to smash in over 3,000 pages worth of film into one movie and on top of that, get rid of characters and make it all short.Ā Ā Nope. Ā I repeat, donāt do that.
4. Levana is ruthless and beautiful but ugly ⦠and vulnerable. Ā Levana really is pure evil. She will kill without remorse and doesnāt take no for an answer, but if you read the book Fairest you would know that she was not always like that. Levana, like everyone else, has backstory. Sheās filled with jealousy. She cries. Sheās insecure. You see oodles of that insecurity in the last book. Donāt make her completely ruthless just because. In the last book[SPOILERS] when Cinder revealed her true face to Luna, Levana was so struck and horrified, she dropped her glamour and ran away from the fight. When Cinder went to find her, Levana was filled with so much self-pity that even with her glamour back up, she didnāt even want to look at Cinder because she knows Cinder can always see her real face. Even as they were talking there were times when she lowered her head. Levana is a totally different villain, a villain no one ever sees anymore - just another girl trying to make everyone love her. Sheās perfect that way. Itās part of her character arc. Donāt change it.
And now ⦠for the most important thing to say that I have been wanting to talk about ā¦
5. The characters in The Lunar Chronicles ARE DIVERSE. Ā All of these characters are not all white, let me start with that. I remember on Tumblr how there was this small debate on what ethnicity Cinder was and I didnāt think that it couldnāt be more obvious that she is Asian and White. Yes, Cinder has some ASIAN in her. You know what that means? She IS NOT COMPLETELY WHITE. Hey, you know who else is Asian? Kai. And every other character who is from New Beijing like Cinderās stepmother and stepsisters. Asian, guys~ Okay? Ā And our other colored characters? Well, as far as I know, Winter and Iko. Ikoās new appearance near the second half of Cress and the rest of Winter is an android from Africa. Africa. As in Black skin, braids, the whole deal. Iād also like to state that the texture of their hair should not be altered either, as the braids and the curls are indeed what make these two beautiful. Straightening their hair should not be done so in order to cater to white people.Ā
And these are the things that should be done if The Lunar Chronicles were turned into movie.
⦠⦠. . Now leave.
