When a character does something that is out-of-character, people would usually criticize it for having unrealistic behavior. Do you think it's a valid criticism considering even humans in real life can be so unpredictable?

“Is being unrealistic a legit criticism to anime characters?” Tenshi_ criticism adds on to ask “When a character does something that is out-of-character, people would usually criticism it for having unrealistic behavior.” This is something that I have personally criticizes myself. I would show them an episode of Angel Beats or an episode of Naruto and they would say “That would never happen in real life” or “That is so unrealistic.” I think I have an addition to this encountered thread.

The whole point of a story is to take you through a journey with someone and to be in that person’s shoes. To see their life unravel and to meet different people along the way that add on to a person’s life. Anime shows are stories but just more exaggerated. You are supposed to suspend your disbelief and abide by the world’s rules. I don’t think that being unrealistic is a legit criticism for anime because it is supposed to be different from the reality that we live in. but if you do take it into account, it does depend on what anime you watch. If your talking about an anime like Fairy tail then it’s a given for it not to be like the real world, it's a different world altogether but if you're talking about an anime like Ouran High School Host Club, even though it’s kind of a stretch, it’s tied down closer to the bounds of a human. I guess that ultimately, I believe that  anime as a whole shouldn’t be tied down to mundane concepts, It deserves more freedom because of the imaginative images that people cam come up with. Making things extraordinary helps with digging into a whole ‘nother story line and really separate the worlds from each other.

Talk Tuesday: Yuri On Ice, ENGLISH DUB

Hey guys there has been a topic stirring around in my mind for a while now and that is… Yuri On Ice. Yup, that sports anime that everyone has been talking about for it’s great art and abundance of ships.

Yuri On Ice is an anime about ice skating. It follows the main character (Yuri Katsuki) develop his ice skating skills while pushing his emotions to the test. Along the way, his idol (Victor Nikiforov) who finds his skills impressive after he perfectly replicates Victor’s routine and gets inspired to become his coach. Another skater (Yuri Plisetsky) becomes enraged when this opportunity arises for Yuri Katsuki because of a promise that Victor made his years back. Both Yuri’s become rivals and battle it out to win the Grand Prix. I, personally love this anime and its use its use of figure skating to advance the characters emotional development and move the story along, but i'm not here to give a review on this anime. No, no, no, i'm here to talk about the english dub.

Now I know what I said about how it depends on the anime and what you want to get from it on wether to watch it in sub or dub in my other talk tuesday on sub vs dub ( http://itsananimatedwriter.tumblr.com/post/145239924785/talk-tuesday-dub-vs-sub ) but there are some dubs that are just… Bad. Funimation,  love you, but… Sometimes you put me in a tight spot where… I GOTTA ROAST YOU!

This anime’s english dub is SO BAD, nothing could’ve prepared me for the job that they did. I know that some of the characters are from Russia but you didn’t have to make them sound like they came straight out of Despicable Me.

If you are going to watch this anime, try your hardest to watch it in sub I promise you, you’d be saving yourself from a monster.
