{ annabeth }:
“Thanks.” Annabeth repeated, tapping the bookmark against her wrist as she studied the man in front of her. Percy was the type of person she never thought she’d be friends with. His laid back way of life should have been incredibly frustrating to a woman who’d had to fight her entire life just for a seat at the table. But here he was, showing that laid back didn’t always mean lazy or self-entitled. In fact, maybe they had a lot more in common than she’d originally realized. “Hey, you’re birthday is coming up too, isn’t it?” Annabeth remembered, a fuzzy memory returning from the party. “In August, right?” A smirk twisted her lips up as she gave her new book mark a little squeeze. “Are you doing anything special with your friends or family?”
He smiled, staring at her for a moment as she studied him. He knew he was probably staring for too long, but there was just something about Annabeth--friend or not--that intrigued him. She was a lot like him in some aspects, but far more driven about her passions, something he admired. As she spoke, he cleared his throat and let out a chuckle. “Ah, so you do remember the party then? Yeah, August 18th. So not too far behind you.” Percy shrugged. “My mom’s off for an art show so I don’t have much planned until she gets back, but we’re going the whole nine-yards once she does--blue cake, driving to the coast roasting hot dogs.”
