you can’t use a portal gun to have sex with your own butt because every time you thrust your butt would get further away. You’d be like tantalus in the garden

Jarec Wentworth, a straight man well-known for not wrecking men's walls
wait didn't he go to jail?
Nothing bad, he extorted a republican donor out of a fuck ton of money lol
He must have the big stick
Andor + Onion headlines, because it was either make memes or scream into the void some more.
I can’t believe mon mothma took the high road when figuring out how to deal with the missing credits. And of course by high road i mean framing her husband for a gambling addiction
I feel like at least one of them was lying…
Like… 🤣
I 100% agree with what you’re saying about canon wanting us to believe that Eric is right. Although I rewatched everything and I can see things from his perspective now and I do understand how we as the audience saw Adam trying very hard but to Eric he must have seemed very defensive and closed off at times, I’m especially annoyed at how there were so many moments where Eric berated Adam like a child and it was implied that this behaviour was justified because Adam was acting clumsy or dumb? Like there were so many moments where he spilled food on his clothes or when he was eating in a way that was not exactly flattering and Eric and the others would just stare at him like he was an embarrassment or Eric would talk to him like he was an idiot. Or when they went bowling and Eric commented on his outfit not being ‘smart’ enough when there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.
On the one hand, I get Eric’s behaviour. He’s a teenager and being liked by popular people is important to him. So I get that the date with Ruby stressed him out because he wanted to impress her. I get that, as a teenager, a lot of things are embarrassing to you and you don’t want your boyfriend to be re-adjusting himself in the middle of the hallway. But what bothers me is that Adam’s clumsy behaviour is almost used as a way to show him as dumb and an embarrassment to Eric and that canon implies we have to agree with Eric that Adam is embarrassing him and that he is almost below the others. Which I don’t agree with at all. Eric focused on a lot of things that are not important and I would have liked it if the show would have addressed Eric’s flaws a bit more too.
Agreed completely!
In the end, what it comes down to for me—and I get the feeling I’m a bit out of sync with large parts of fandom on this one—is that I can understand why Eric acted the way he did most of the time. Even the objectively shitty stuff, I can usually see why it happened. It’s still enough to kill the ship for me, since all those things taken together show they just don’t work together, but if that was all it was, I probably would have just shrugged and moved on. The thing that’s had me spilling my many many feelings all over tumbler the past few days is the sense I get that canon doesn’t seem to think Eric made just as many mistakes in this relationship as Adam did, that it really was all just an issue of Eric being ready to fly, while Adam’s just learning to walk. That’s the thing that pisses me off.
Because yeah, Adam is closed off and bad at communicating... and then he goes and gets all vulnerable with Otis to find a solution. And he says the wrong thing a lot, be he keeps trying until he gets it right. That's really one of the biggest things with him this season. He keeps putting himself out there. He doesn't always get it right, but keeps trying. And canon seems fairly clear-eyed about both his strengths and weaknesses.
And on the other hand, in addition to his many wonderful qualities, we get stuff like Eric storming off when Adam expresses reluctance to have sex, and laughing at Adam while talking to his ex boyfriend, and picking a fight with Adam when Adam tries to talk to him about Rahim and Eric saying they should take get some space while he’s in Nigeria, and of course cheating on him. But for some reason, canon doesn't seem interested in acknowledging that hey, Eric fucked up too. Eric fucked up quite a bit during this relationship. Instead, we just get this ending where Eric realizes being with Adam was holding him back from being his true self, because Adam isn't on his level yet, and now that he's fixed that and broke up with him, here he is, golden and triumphant.
So yeah. I don’t blame Eric for not reacting to Adam the way we as viewers do. I just wish the show was as interested in acknowledging his faults as it is Adam’s.
I 100% agree with you both…the scene where Eric said “you’re learning to walk and I’m ready to fly” made me extra mad because it was portrayed as Eric being “honest and mature”. In reality I think Eric is only slightly ahead of Adam, in that he is out to both his parents and Adam isn’t. The fact that he thinks its okay to kiss another guy while in a monogamous relationship, not feel bad about it, and then divert most of the blame onto Adam for not being on the same level as him shows that Eric isn’t very mature at all. If anything I think the writers unintentionally had Adam end this season as the more mature one of the two. I’m also extra mad that the show implied that their relationship problems were somehow unsolvable. The fact that there was really only one major thing about Adam that irritated Eric, and it was something that is almost guaranteed to eventually be resolved (i.e. once Adam fully exits the closet) is dumb to me. Anyways that’s my rant.
