Final Part 2
For my second piece I created a rock sculpture based off of Andy Goldsworthy.
Final Part 1
I am calling this piece "Life". The blue symbolizes life when it is good and the black is what is bound to come, at some point in your life you will experience hardship and tough times but if you keep pushing through you will get back to the good times.
For the Keith Haring Project Brian and I went to a spot on the trail and created this piece. The 2 silhouettes are based on Keith's work and the heart symbolizes love, peace and harmony.
For my project this week I decided to create a triangle out of sticks. The triangle has a ton of meanings when it comes to the history of it. The majority of the meanings relate to religious believes with the most common being "The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit". The triangle also traces back to structures such as pyramids for ancient Egypt. The triangle has also become the great seal of the United States and can be found on the unfinished pyramid on US currency. It indicated the influence of Freemasonry founding of the US. There are many more symbolisms related to the triangle as well.
For this weeks assignment, I had a friend trace my outline in the grass, then I laid sticks on that outline and added pinecones for fingers. I enjoyed this assignment because it required you to be outside and use what was around you to make your design.
For my art piece this week I decided to recreate the third option. I liked this one because it reminded me of doodling in class. The more you look at the clustered piece the more objects your brain is able to make out and picture.
For my Art Povera Piece I found an empty water bottle and painted it white then splattered blue, purple and black paint on it.
For my abstract art I started on Snapchat and wanted to use several different colors that contrasted one another to make them stand out. I also wanted to use only intersecting lines, alternating between straight and curvy to add depth. The layering of the lines on top of another was more difficult and time consuming than expected when transferring the image created digitally onto canvas. This showed me that digital technology has a place in artwork and has expanded the range of creative possibilities.
I really enjoyed this piece of work. It is simple in the fact that it is just lines but the different colors, thicknesses and the change up of straight and curved lines make it stand out. Very nice job!
For my pop art assignment I chose to use my friend Cam.
My advice is to keep your held high and the beauty is in the eye of the beholder so you shouldn’t care about some standard set by large corporations or a social media trend but instead seek out and spend time with people who appreciate who you are. Also, everyone is beautiful in their own ways.
Rebelling against beauty standards is a part of my life because it makes me feel unique and heightens my sense of self. In the past I gave into beauty standards and wore what other people would want to see me in, but now that I look how I want I feel more relaxed and comfortable in my own skin.
My girlfriend Ashley as well and my friends and family provide me with much needed assurance when I become anxious about my position in society boxes. They encourage me to be myself and not overthink about the way I am being perceived.
I enjoyed doing this assignment and hearing Cam's answers to these questions.
For my abstract midterm I choose to use snapchat and then canvas and acrylic paint. I chose to make two different sides of my painting. One side is neat and uniform, it has different shapes but you know what is going on. However the other side is a mess, you cant tell what leads where and why it turns when it does. I chose to do this for my painting to symbolize life. On one side of life it is more structured, you go to the same classes every week and know what is going on. The other side of life is usually messy, you don’t know what will come next or where things are going. This means something to me because it is definitely the way that I feel and I am sure many other people feel the same.
Hey Everyone! I chose a pink color theme for my collage! Pink has always been my favorite color, and it's kind of awesome to see the color range from light shades of pink to darker shades of pink. I hope you enjoy! I want to call this collage, "Pink Paradise"
-Rose Berkovski
I enjoyed this piece of work because the shades of pink go together very well. It is cool to see how many things have certain colors in them that you never realize until you are specifically looking for a color when looking through a magazine.
My collage includes pictures that represent different aspects of my personality. There is a lot of pictures of nature, which reminds me of my childhood and my future. After I graduate I’m working in environmental education and a lot of these pictures are representative of that. I also added the picture of the dog and fireworks because they remind me of good times and good friends.
I enjoyed this piece of work because it is interesting to see how people show what they enjoy in life. Finding exact pictures of everything that you like in a magazine is very difficult so I find interesting how pieces are put together to get the main point across.
For my midterm, I created a piece using snapchat, then used acrylic paint on canvas to replicate it. I don't feel like I could be super creative using the paint feature on snapchat, but I tried my best. I created several abstract(ish) images that sort of mean different things to me. I also used a sticker which said "Exhausted" but shifted it off the page to only include the first two letters. I had fun making this, and just drew what came into my head. Nothing has a definite meaning, but in the moment they each symbolized something to me.
I enjoyed this piece of work due to the different items that you chose to include. The items obviously mean something to you but it is interesting that to someone else they might mean something completely different. I like that you included the "EX" from exhausted because I am sure that many people feel the same way.
For my abstract background I used red and yellow on a paper towel and blotted it across the canvas. My abstract mark is in the bottom right and I didnt really think about anything while I painted it and just started painting. The symbol is a star in the bottom left in red. I started a timer and just went around the page with my black line not going in any particular place on the canvas.
For this weeks assignment I found places that I have travelled to growing up. The top right and left picture are the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. The house with the flag is in Arlington National Cemetery, the lighthouse is in Maine and the bottom left is Kennedy Space Center.
For my color study assignment I choose the color blue. I took items from a magazine that consisted of mostly clothes. It is cool to see how many different shades of blue there is.
For my collage, I included things that I like and that I am proud of. The picture on the top right is hard to see but it is a pool patio and waterfall that the company I work for did 2 years ago, the patio was featured in Design Western New York magazine. I enjoy food and the Buffalo Bills and I really enjoy Montana.
