“Nick, man you've got to see this!" Hank exclaimed.
Glancing over he saw the news was on.
“Breaking news, Last night Portland almost lost a detective, one of our own with possibly the highest case closure rate in the city according to fellow officers. Sources say that a federal agent broke into the officers home and was waiting with a gun inside, luckily the detective was not home at the time. An unknown sequence of events led to the discovery and subsequent arrest of one Weston Steward.”
“This is still an ongoing investigation but officers are calling this an assassination attempt on one of their own to cover up potential corruption. Whoever this detective is, they were allegedly almost silenced by a federal officer, may he keep up the good work that keeps the people of Portland safe and keep getting criminals like these off our city stre—” The news anchor said before it cut rather suddenly to the weather.
“I'm thinking that the last part wasn't approved by her bosses,” Wu said with a dry laugh.
Given that it wasn't an emergency weather statement that it cut to, made that rather obvious. Nick raised an eyebrow before he asked, “Think the department has a leak?”
“Nah, Renard wanted to make it hard for the feds to get to their man, now if they try it will be met with public scrutiny,” Hank answered.
“More like Renard being possessive of his grimm,” Wu said.
They both shot him a look.
“What? I'm not lying, you're valuable to him.”
