   — ZELDA GLANCES DOWN FROM HER PERCH , eyeing the individual curiously before she continues to develop her whiteboard-and-dry-erase paper trail further. Her theories are obvious ; drawing the connections and making these hypotheses are something she’s glad she retained even after the blight that washed away her memories , but NOT her spirit. She’s smart & she’s wise ; she at least will always have those things. ❝ The forest is involved in quite more than you think , ❞ says the Princess of Hyrule , climbing down from her chair and then stepping back to take a more widespread look. She’s convinced that the connection between the mansion & the forest lies in the PHENOMENA that occurred in both - witnessing past events like they were real , actually just memories physically manifested in front of oneself. In that forest , it felt like a dream , but Zelda felt like it was too real to be so. An Alice in Wonderland twist of events , if you will. She crosses her arms , sizing up Jeremiah before she asks , ❝ Have you set foot in either ?? The forest or the mansion ?? ❞

                    THERE  HAVE  BEEN  times  where  jeremiah  has  thought  of  entering  the  forest,  just  for  the  sake  of  being  around  nature.  fighting  at  the  ring  is  something  he  loves  to  do,  even  if  his  expressions  seldom  show  it,  but  there  is  nothing  that  beats  the  feeling  of  being  surrounded  by  nature.  that  said,  he  also  knows  that  nature  can  never  be  completely  tamed  by  man,  but  to  think  that  an  entire  forest  would  be  involved  in  something  so  strange,  well,  it’s  beyond  him.  ❝  is  that  so  ??  ❞  is  all  he  can  think  of  to  say.  he  isn’t  talkative  in  the  best  of  times,  least  of  all  when  he  doesn’t  understand  something  that  is  right  in  front  of  his  face.  ❝  i  haven’t  been  in  either.  the  party  at  the  mansion  was  never  really  my  scene,  and  i  never  really  had  time  to  go  into  the  forest.  ❞  and  he  can’t  lie  —  after  everything  he’s  heard  about  the  forest,  all  the  warnings  people  are  given  to  stay  out  of  the  place,  it  sounds  like  it  would  be  a  hassle  to  even  attempt  to  traverse  it.  ❝  so  the  mansion  and  the  forest  are  connected,  ❞  he  starts  slowly,  eyes  still  on  the  board,  ❝  but  how  ??  ❞

amy !

           THE HOLIDAY SEASON HAD BEEN  extra kind to amy ,  granting her the opportunity to spend some free time with people she cared about and a couple of days away from work ;  the burlesque was exhaustive  ( especially when you’re one of their best dancers ) ,  so it should be no surprise that she was more than happy to have some time off .  however ,  as amara well knew ,  all good things come to an end ;  and what an ending it was .

         when the  crimson - eyed girl  decided to spend her last say of freedom outside ,  something amy rarely ever did ,  she wasn’t counting on the possibility of rain .  perhaps it was foolish of her to not carry an umbrella in her purse at all times ,  but still  —  that thought wouldn’t be of any help right now ,  not when she felt foolish standing underneath a marquee ,  soaked wet and waiting for the rain to pass .  the idea of catching a cold or something worse was rather terrifying ;  the last time she’d felt that way was …  no ,  stop it ,  the woman thought to herself ,  shaking her head and banishing  the memories  away from her mind .  no matter how much this new life made her feel closer to being human again ,  she knew it wasn’t true .  it was a lie ,  a prank someone decided to pull on a number of people .  

         noticing someone approaching in the distance ,  amy’s arms wrapped around her body to keep warm and she took a few steps back in attempt to make more space in the sidewalk ,  turning  her gaze  away from the person .  she knew they would judge her no matter what ,  but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t try to hide .  after all ,  hiding was all the woman ever did .  

                    IT  WOULD  BE  wrong  to  say  that  jeremiah  is  always  prepared  for  the  rain.  it’s  just  that  he  always  forgets  to  take  his  umbrella  out  of  his  bag  after  bringing  it  with  him  and  not  using  it.  it’s  convenient,  at  the  very  least,  and  so  he  appreciates  past-jeremiah  for  forgetting  the  useful  tool  was  in  there  in  the  first  place.

                    even  in  the  rain,  he  prefers  to  walk  home  from  work  rather  than  drive.  while,  theoretically,  he  can  drive,  he  doesn’t  like  it.  sitting  inside  a  car  makes  him  feel  closed  off  from  the  rest  of  the  world,  like  he  wouldn’t  be  able  to  escape  if  something  happened.  it’s  silly,  he  knows,  but  that  paired  with  the  dreams  he  sometimes  has  where  cars  turn  into  an  unidentifiable  creature  with  wings  that  he  can  ride  with  ease,  as  if  he  and  the  creature  are  one,  cause  him  anxiety  in  vehicles.  not  that  he  will  ever  tell  anyone,  of  course.  some  things  are  best  left  unsaid.

                    the  streets  are  mostly  deserted  save  for  a  few  stragglers  who  are  more  than  likely  returning  home  for  the  day.  all  of  them  have  umbrellas  and  are  moving  at  fast  paces  (  unlike  his  own  leisurely  one,  because  really,  the  rain  doesn’t  bother  him  as  much  as  it  probably  should  ),  and  so  it  makes  the  young  woman  standing  beneath  the  awning  stand  out  all  the  more.  he  stares  for  a  brief  moment  before  shrugging  his  shoulders  and  striding  over.

                    ❝  here.  ❞  he  holds  out  the  umbrella  once  he  is  safely  beneath  cover.  ❝  you  can  take  it.  my  place  isn’t  too  far  from  here.  ❞

inigo !

          While his training is definitely important to him - he’s going to have to keep up with it, if his hunch is right and this town isn’t as peaceful as it’s made out to look - he’s not going to deny that the thought of seeing Jeremiah again acts as a bit of motivation. He might not remember much, but that won’t stop Inigo from sticking close to him anyway, especially since he doesn’t seem to mind. (At least, he hopes?)

          He’s already smiling at the tone of his voice, moving around so that he’s in Jeremiah’s line of vision. It’s still a bit of a shock, every time, to see him without any sort of mask on, but he tries not to let that show, 

          ❝ Oh, come on. No warmer welcome              for  your favorite student  ?  And I              brought  my own water and  every-              thing this time !! ❞

                    JEREMIAH  IS  NOT  usually  comfortable  with  other  human  beings,  at  least  not  until  he  has  spent  enough  time  with  them,  but  inigo  seems  to  be  an  exception  to  that  rule.  he  isn’t  entirely  sure  why  that  is,  especially  as  he  doesn’t  usually  take  to  people  like  him.  that  isn’t  to  say  that  inigo  doesn’t  do  irritating  things  sometimes,  just  that  they  bother  jeremiah  less  than  they  would  coming  from  another  person.

                    he  puts  the  bottle  down  just  as  inigo  comes  into  view,  his  expression  changing  only  slightly  to  show  the  small  bit  of  exasperation  he  feels.  ❝  and  when  did  you  go  and  decide  you’re  one  of  my  favourite  students  ??  ❞  he’s  right,  of  course,  but  he  doesn’t  need  to  know  that.  ❝  i  would  hope  so.  i’m  not  letting  you  have  any  of  mine.  ❞

                    ❝  not  really.  i  talk  to  them  on  my  birthday  and  holidays  and  all  that,  over  the  phone,  but…  i  don’t  know,  i  just  don’t  feel  all  that  connected  to  them  anymore.  ❞

                    ❝  i  have,  and  i  like  it.  i  go  most  times  i  have  a  holiday,  even  if  it’s  just  by  myself.  i  do  bring  minerva  with  me,  though,  because  she  likes  the  company  and  i  would  also  feel  a  bit  bad  leaving  dawn  to  deal  with  her  on  her  own.  it’s  nice  to  get  away  to  the  wilderness  sometimes.  ❞

   — ❝ SO THEN THE G SITUATION STARTS AROUND OCTOBER … and that’s shortly before the masquerade incident takes place. ❞ They’re intent and FOCUSED on their current objective : trying to make sense of the recent past , especially now that everything has come back to them and , therefore , have brought them inches closer to getting even more of the answers that they’ve so wanted to deduce. Rock music softly plays from their phone on a bluetooth speaker besides them , and they’re currently using dry erase markers & a whiteboard as a map and section for notes so there’s a visual to make connecting these far much easier. They uncap the red marker with their teeth ( it’s their own ) and drag it from a quickly drawn manor to a cluster of stick trees , speaking to themselves , ❝ And forest possibly invokes similar scenarios to that of the manor , so that means the manor and the forest could potentially be connected … ❞ They draw three question marks beside the line to show their uncertainty. And they stand back to survey their work , before a finger points to the left of the board. ❝ So then how does G … ❞ A few moments of hesitance as they trail off , tongue in cheek , before they cap the marker and look down. ❝ Excuse me - but do you think you could graciously pass me that blue marker right there ?? I’d greatly appreciate it , if you’d kindly. ❞

                    JEREMIAH  NEVER  INTENDED  to  stumble  into  a  living  recreation  of  the  pepe  silva  meme,  only  wanting  to  check  out  a  book  on  some  aikido  techniques  for  one  of  his  new  trainees,  but  curiosity  had  gotten  the  best  of  him.  his  intention  was  to  watch  from  afar,  but  he  ended  up  moving  closer  to  see  exactly  what  what  being  written,  resulting  in  him  being  asked  to  pick  up  the  blue  marker.  he  lifts  it  (  avoiding  the  lid,  just  in  case  they  make  a  habit  of  biting  their  pen  lids  )  and  offers  it  over.  he  stays  silent  for  a  moment,  just  taking  in  the  board  in  its  entirety.  he  didn’t  go  to  the  ball  that  caused  all  of  the  hallucinations  he  has  since  heard  about,  nor  did  he  have  anything  stolen,  but  he  knows  that  it  could  happen  to  him  one  day,  so  he  keeps  an  eye  on  the  news  for  more  incidents.  he  hasn’t  ever  tried  to  figure  them  out  himself,  though.  he  isn’t  equipped  for  much  thinking  outside  of  combat  and  techniques,  so  he  has  long  since  decided  to  leave  conspiracies  up  to  those  more  efficient  at  connecting  the  dots.  still,  he  can’t  help  but  be  curious.  ❝  the  forest  ??  ❞  he  finally  pipes  up,  eyes  staring  at  the  cluster  of  trees.  ❝  i’ve  heard  of  the  mansion,  but  i  wasn’t  aware  the  forest  was  involved  in  anything.  ❞  well,  other  than  the  usual.  there  is  a  reason  people  tend  not  to  go  in  there,  after  all.

                    JEREMIAH  WIPES  THE  sweat  off  of  his  face  with  a  towel  and  picks  up  his  water  bottle  so  he  can  down  at  least  half  of  its  contents.  this  is  always  the  case  after  he  works  out,  something  he  tries  to  do  every  day,  even  when  he’s  in  the  middle  of  work,  like  right  now.  he  figures  it’s  fine  ;  he  doesn’t  have  an  appointment  until  later  this  afternoon,  so  he  can  do  what  he  pleases  unless  they  have  a  walk-in.

                    that  said,  he  doesn’t  take  all  too  kindly  to  being  disturbed,  and  so  when  he  senses  someone  behind  him  he  says,  ❝  can  i  help  you  ??  ❞  without  bothering  to  turn  around.  he  knows  it’s  his  job  to  be  hospitable  to  those  wanting  to  use  the  ring’s  facilities,  but  he  really  does  appreciate  his  alone  time.

    back straightened up ; an immediate response to such a comment.    her height was a bit of a sore point for her, and yes she still brought it up about others,  which perhaps gave them reason to jest back in a never-ending cycle of annoyance,  & yet lyzabeth does nothing to break the wheel that annoyed her so.     ❝  i’ll buy platform trainers for my next session then.   ❞  lyzabeth stated,    her tone making it almost impossible to guess whether she was being serious or just making a joke. 

 lips pushed to a pout as lyzabeth caught sight of the time from the screen of jeremiah’s flipping phone,   ❝ i’m early aren’t i – ?   ❞ asking a question she already knew the answer to, she shoved her hands in her jacket pockets, pink eyes downcast.  ❝  sorry about that – & snapping at you, i guess .  .  . ❞

                    JEREMIAH  KNOWS  THAT  her  height  is  a  sensitive  topic  for  lyzabeth,  but  if  she’s  going  to  bring  it  up,  then  he  doesn’t  see  any  issues  with  saying  something  about  it  in  return.  ❝  i  don’t  think  they  make  platform  trainers  anywhere  near  that  high,  ❞  he  says,  only  briefly  looking  up  from  his  phone.  he  has  never  seen  the  issue  with  height,  anyway.  just  because  someone  is  small  doesn’t  mean  they  aren’t  powerful.

                    he  nods  once.  ❝  you  are,  but  it’s  better  than  being  late.  ❞  he  doesn’t  like  to  be  kept  waiting,  especially  when  there  are  other  things  he  could  be  doing  away  from  other  people.  he  would  much  rather  be  back  home  or  training  by  himself.  when  he  notices  lyzabeth’s  more  withdrawn  behaviour,  he  finally  locks  his  phone  and  puts  it  away.  ❝  it’s  fine.  i’ve  heard  far  worse  things,  i  can  assure  you  of  that  much.  ❞

                    ❝  i  ended  up  adopting  minerva  after  finding  her  on  the  street.  she  was  just  a  kitten  and  it  was  raining,  a  pretty  cliche  story.  i  brought  her  home  and  kept  her  warm  and  she  hasn’t  left  my  side  since.  sometimes  i  think  that  it’s  fate  that  we  met.  ❞

                    ❝  i  have  a  family  here  in  town,  but…  i  remember  there  was  a  time  where  i  woke  up  and  i  just…  felt  like  they  weren’t  really  my  family  anymore.  it’s  a  weird  feeling,  and  maybe  it’s  just  me  getting  older  and  not  needing  them  as  much  anymore,  but…  i  just  don’t  feel  connected  to  them  like  a  family  should,  and  when  i  first  felt  that  way,  my  emotions  were  just  a  mix  of  guilt  and  confusion,  so  it  stands  out  to  me.  ❞

     lysithea  … lysithea was never great at combat ; for all the minor crest of charon that’s forced in her bones her combat skills were always something to be left lacking. here, her fake-mother simply referred to her weak stature as being defficient in calcium and needing a good bit of exercise. the self-defence classes had been somewhat of a joke to lyzabeth at first ;   but she had …. to some extent accepted it as part of her daily routine. which compromised of finishing baking & handing off the clerk duties to one of her co-workers, before turning up 15 minutes early to her personal training. except some guy that was way too tall to be legal almost tripped her up !!    ❝  watch it !!   ❞  the always somewhat shriek voice comes out as lyzie is forced a step back.    ❝  jeremiah jeez ..   ❞ immediately catching her attitude, somewhat embarrassed to have just shouted at jeremiah like that, lyzabeth composed herself.  ❝  … you were made too tall for your own good – could you give me a vertebrae  ❞ 

                    THE  VOICE  IS  immediately  recognisable  to  jeremiah,  and  he  straightens  himself  up  and  raises  his  eyebrow,  unsure  whether  to  be  amused  or  offended  at  the  sudden  outburst.  he  settles  on  the  former.  he  flips  his  phone  over  and  over  with  his  fingers,  an  action  he  does  without  thinking  most  of  the  time.  ❝  i  did  apologise,  ❞  he  points  out,  even  though  said  apology  was  nothing  more  than  a  single  word,  but  with  the  way  he  barely  uses  his  words  to  begin  with,  he  thinks  it  should  suffice.  he  pushes  his  sunglasses  up  his  nose,  dark  eyes  hidden  behind  them.  ❝  a  vertebrae  ??  i  don’t  think  that’s  how  that  works.  i  quite  like  my  vertebrae  where  they  are.  ❞  he  pauses  for  a  brief  moment.  ❝  and  i  can’t  really  imagine  you  any  taller  than  you  are.  ❞

   ⁠— HE’S LATE ; HE’S LATE AND HE HATES IT , especially because it’s a D&D session that awaits him and he promised he’d be on time but then his car broke down ( that he can barely remember somehow learning how to drive ) and he had to get coffee and the line was long and … Well , that’s what leaves him running. He scrolls through a few texts on his phone tries to reply before there’s a glance , and he somehow trips in trying to avoid tripping and … down he goes. He scrambles to collect his phone , thanking Naga that it hasn’t cracked , and then he looks up at the voice he heard and he swears it’s familiar when - ❝ Gerome ?! ❞

                    HE’S  UP  AND  on  his  feet  in  an  instant,  frowning  at  his  own  carelessness.  perhaps  it  isn’t  entirely  his  fault,  but  he  really  should  have  moved  his  feet  sooner.  he  reaches  out  a  hand,  only  to  pause  at  the  name.  that  isn’t  his  name,  he  knows  it  isn’t,  but  something  tugs  in  the  back  of  his  mind,  like  a  long  forgotten  memory  trying  to  escape,  but  he  ignores  it.  perhaps  there  is  a  gerome  somewhere  in  castle  town  and  he’s  heard  the  name  before.  ❝  close,  but  i’m  afraid  not.  i’m  jeremiah,  ❞  he  says,  pushing  his  sunglasses  further  up  his  nose.  he  feels  more  comfortable  when  he  has  his  eyes  hidden.  ❝  there  hasn’t  been  any  damage,  has  there  ??  ❞  he  scans  both  the  man  and  the  phone  for  potential  breakage.
