Different Origins of Garth
1) Adventure Comics #269 (1960)
2) Tempest #1 (1996)
Aqualad was originally found by Aquaman in a capsule (Aqualad had been "exiled" for his fear of fish; yes, exiling a child between the ages of 8 and 10 is still morally reprehensible), but in this case, the exile wasn't meant to kill him, but rather to protect him and allow him to live. He was placed there with the intention that someone would find and rescue him (similar to Aquaman's first partner, "Lisa Morel, the first Aquagirl in 1959"). However, that exile origin was removed from canon when they decided to give Garth parents (i.e., the 1960 Aqualad only lasted until 1964, and from 1965 onward, Aqualad had, so to speak, a reboot, and from 1965 onward, Aqualad had black, wavy hair). From 1960 to 1964, Aqualad had straight, brown hair. Aqualad's parents were introduced between 1977 and 1978 (King Thar was the first to appear; specifically, Thar appeared in an image in "Adventure Comics #454 (1977)," and a year later Queen Berra and King Thar appeared together in a flashback in "Adventure Comics #455 (1978)"; however, the first appearance of King Thar and Queen Berra was in "Teen Titans Spotlight #10 (1987)"), while Slizzath (Zath) appeared in the Garth miniseries in "Tempest" (1996-1997). The 1960-1964 version never had a name, only "Aqualad." Although he was called "Mark Queentin" in 1964, it was only that one time (it's worth noting that he wasn't called "Garth" until approximately 1983). (That is, 23 years after his creation).
In In Tempest (1996-1997), Garth was abandoned at birth because of his eyes, while in 1960 Aquaman found him in a capsule (in one case, the exile was to protect him, not to kill him; in the second, he was abandoned as a baby with the clear intention of killing him).
There is a huge difference: one was protection, the other, cruelty and attempted infanticide. Luckily, Garth survived, but at a high price: he seemed to suffer from abandonment trauma, which is why he never left Aquaman's side.
And as Garth tells the Idyllist (and his mother) in "Tempest #3 1997":
1) "Do you have any idea how twisted you people are? Couldn't you just have buried the scroll?! I could've killed myself whit that knife! You lied to me. You lied to me, all these years you lied to me!"
2) "You left me to die because of some cryptic vagaries about a magical catastrophe i might have been able to prevent!"
Anyone asked for fem roygarth by any chance? ..no? Well have them anyway
I did them with their og suits because 1. I like them 2. They translate great to a more feminine style, like roy tunic into a skirt is so cutee (its the only change I made)
Also I will probably do the rest of the titans later :)
