POKÉMON-ERS ON ARTFIGHT!
YOU! YES YOU! I’ve decided I’m insane and am trying to get as far as possible through the Pokédex using other peoples’ unique designs!
Do you have an original character or species that you’d like to be included? Well good for you, cause I have 6 mons per page and *checks notes* 529 to go, considering I do one mon per evo line. Boy do I have free time. Maybe I’lll keep it up next year?
ANYWAY, leave your character’s link down below and I will heavily consider it! It really depends on how contested the slot is, so good luck if it’s an Eeveelution.
I say I do one mon per evolution line, but it’s more specifically the evolution… Clump? Eg, Zubat and Golbat are in the same “clump” because they’re in the same spot in the dex, but Crobat will be its own doodle because it’s dex number is out in Johto. I first look at any requests, then I look at the first stage to find a suitable mon, and if that doesn’t yield anything I look into the evolution and so on.
Rules:
No Megas, Gmax, Dmax, or Paradox forms. My sketchbook is too tiny :(
No gijinkas or anthros. Again, mostly because sketchbook too tiny. I’m working within less than a 1.8in X 2.8in area per mon, and often paint pens or colored pencils. No thank you.
No fusions! I want every mon to have its own dedicated slot.
It can totally be an original/official regional variant (eg. hisuian zorua), but not a regionally convergent mon (eg. toedscruel). Definitely not an entirely original species, it’s gotta have a dex number!
These next two aren’t rules so much as suggestions. I likely won’t choose mons that don’t follow these, unless there are no other choices. There may be exceptions if I just…think it will be fun to draw, lol, so feel free to leave yours regardless. These mostly just tell you what I think is fun to draw, yanno?
It should be recognisable. I can name every Pokémon from their shadow—-even if pkmnquiz took me nearly an hour at my fastest, lol)—-and I should be able to name yours too.
It should be differentiable even without any accessories or clothing! I look for different silhouettes or patterns especially. If there’s not much difference other than clothes or a basic palette change, it’ll only happen if I have no other viable options.
As a good reference for the two prior rules: The Beedrill and Spearow I drew were not differentiable enough from their original counterparts and just had no other competition, while the Sandslash was pushing it on being recognizable but I liked it too much to not do it, lol. A perfect balance between differentiability and recognizability is the Wartortle, or the Pikachu.

Psst, for each page I choose somewhat randomly whether I work with pens of various lineweights, colored pencil, or paint pens. Tell me if you have a preference and I’ll take it into account :D
