What do you call someone who isn’t quite a partner, but is more than a friend?

Partner doesn’t feel right because when I think partner I think “we’re building something together” and that’s not quite what’s going on

But we’re more than friends, and “with benefits” doesn’t cover the ways in which we are more than friends (ie romantic, dates, affection)

Dating makes it sound like I spend more time with them than I really do (usually this is someone I see less than once a month)

Lovers would work, but some people who are or have been in this category have a weird relationship with the word “love” and so that would feel wrong.

I tend use Friendtimate: A friend who I am occasionally intimate with. Or Flover: a friend who is also a lover but more friend than lover. More often than not I use friendtimate though. (got the terms from the polysinglish blog - on mobile right now so I can link but I will when I get to my computer)

Just wanna say. I love my siblings. They've been so fucking supportive about my questioning my gender identity. My sister helped me come up with a name for when I'm a guy because the name I was born with is very decidedly female and it felt weird to be called that when I was a guy. And it's made it easier to let them know what pronouns I prefer that day. My brother has also been helpful with giving me his old clothes that he doesn't fit that he thinks I'll like. And just Ugh They make me feel so lucky because they're so accepting and loving <3
