A alien design contest was held for the webcomic 5 years later, a crossover between ben 10 and danny phantom. This was my design, Scorpiblow, and got one of ten honourable mentions out of over 1000 entries.

He uses vortexes and whirlwinds to manipulate air, giving him the ability to suck air in through his claws, blow it out of his claws, tail and back (to fly), and also expel poison gas from his taul. They have a durable exoskeleton. Their planet is a desert with high spires, hollowed out as nests.

This is a huge collab done with some of the folks in my spidersona discord, it’s meant to resemble the first issue cover of Spider-Geddon! The Spider Queen

The Spider Queen is a millennia old entity that inhabits the mind of a certain bloodline, and gives them the magical abilities of the original spider queen, which included control over spiders (and spider people), magical webs, wall crawling, invulnerability, super strength, super speed, spider-sense, illusion magic, poison blasts, electric blasts, underwater breathing, acrobatics, and retractable blades and spikes.

Spi-Droid

An android created by college student, Peter Parker, in earth 01010011-01110000-01101001-01100100-01100101-01110010. In this universe Peter didn't get bitten and become a hero, but decided to create one instead. They have web shooters built into them, incredible strength and durability, extendable limbs, and they can adapt their weaponry and arsenal to copy their foes after facing them in battle and winning (Like Mega-Man). Spi-Droid is equipped with a moral and just artificial intelligence, and will not put civilians in harms way under any circumstances. They are also equipped with an infinite and renewable energy model, internal synthetic webbing replicators, internal radio that is connected to police scanners, and an international translator.

(L-R) Spi-Droid, the Harvestman, the Shadow Spider

Spi-Droid is an android from an alternate universe, where Peter Parker did not get bitten by a spider, and instead of becoming a superhero, decided to create one. Spi-Droid has web-shooters built in to them, they have increased strength, speed, and durability, due to being an android, and they can stretch their limbs to extreme lengths. Spi-Droid also gains powers of the villains they defeat, by analysing their powers and modifying themself to enhance their arsenal.  

The Harvestman created his suit with the help of his best friend, a computer technician/engineer, after stealing the blueprints of the Iron Spider and Iron Man suits from a worldwide touring exhibition of superheroes in a museum in Australia. He tried to be a hero in Brisbane but it wasn't panning out well, due to minimal superhero headway in the continent, and minimised dangerous and super-villain crime. He smuggled all of his supplies and suits onto a boat to new York and made the journey as a worker with his friend. When he arrived in the city he was broke and homeless, so he had to stay in his suit to keep him heated during the cold nights. His friend got a job in a computer store and began renting a tiny apartment and allowed the Harvestman to crash on the couch. During the day he goes job hunting. He carries around a huge backpack with the parts of his armour in it so he doesn’t have to go back to his apartment to change. His suit allows him durability and strength not usually accessible to him due to him having no powers. His suit also comes with four extendable robot limbs. He has no web-shooters. 

The Shadow Spider was the result of an illegal experiment with the alien symbiote where it was injected into the blood stream of the host, and has fully become part of the cardiovascular system.

I was inspired by @deer-head-xiris and their Spider-Sona “the Bold Jumper” to create my own spider-man persona. 

He is “the Harvestman” and he doesn't really have any powers and just appropriated the design of the iron spider suit (the comic version) to create his own identity. His main power is his extendable robot legs, which he uses for fast travel, as well as defensive and offensive purposes, and his armour also provides him with camouflage capabilities and it shields him from damage. He hates in when people call him “daddy long legs” so naturally everybody does. He comes from Australia. 

EDIT: I had no idea that this exchange had taken place and now it seems like ive just stolen that idea

shading colour tips

hey yall its me the Art Mom™ to help you shade pretty

rule 1: DO NOT SHADE WITH BLACK. EVER. IT NEVER LOOKS GOOD. 

red- shade with a slightly darker shade of purple

orange- slightly darker and more saturated shade of red

yellow- i think like..a peach could work but make it a really light peach

green- shade with darker and less saturated shade of blue or teal

blue- shade with purple

purple- a shade thats darker than the purple you’re using and maybe a little pink (MAYBE blue)

pink- darker shade of red

white- a really light lavender or blue..or i guess any really light colour??

black- okay listen dont use pure black to colour anything unless you want to leave it with flat colours because you cant really shade black lol

grey- a slightly darker shade of purple or blue (less saturated)

brown- slightly darker and less saturated shade of purple or red

aaaaand thats all i got lol. let me know if there is anything i should add to this list!!

tumblr artist PSA?

It looks like tumblr now automatically converts png files to jpg - if you have a fairly “clean”/simple digital art style that gets wrecked by jpg artifacts, you’ll want to put transparency somewhere in the image - tumblr will leave pngs with transparency alone (a single pixel border of transparency around the image works and is pretty non-intrusive).

Incidentally twitter has done this for a while, the same method of fixing it works there.

I’ve been doing this on twitter for months now; literally just adding a tiny border of transparent pixels is enough. .jpg does not support transparency, so adding it to the image forces Tumblr to maintain the .png file in order to maintain the transparency.
