The Baddest Beams - Junior Beams [EP] The Baddest Beams is simply described as “Rock & Roll music by AJ Marsden” by its own Facebook page, but this project has a lot to offer that’s difficult to pin to simply “Rock & Roll music”.
The Junior Beams EP is a lo-fi, poppy and psychedelic folkish romp that makes heavy use of synthesized sounds for a feel that is both reminiscent of the psychedelic pop of the 1960s and the classic SNES title Earthbound. (The name “Baddest Beams”, in fact, is a nod to the aforementioned video game.) The whole EP clocks in around 15 minutes, and the recordings - done entirely by AJ Madsen - invoke mixed feelings of content nostalgia and melancholy throughout. Definitely worth a listen if you’re looking for something new and infectiously catchy.

Alone Together by Aristotle Roufanis
“Alone Together is an ongoing photographic project by Aristotle Roufanis, for which the London-based photographer takes photos of large metropoles in a way that only tiny, individual apartment lights are visible. Hardly recognisable in the dark, some of the world’s most famous metropoles such as London, Paris, Miami and Athens are transformed into sprawling canvases of anonymity, where countless people have decided to make their home but hardly connect to each other. The project takes this phenomenon of social alienation in urban centres as a starting point, and adds a positive, optimistic twist to it.”
