A giggling girl gave me heart shaped chocolates filled with cherry liquor. I feel suspicious because Iâm pretty sure Slughorn just gave a lecture on amorentia but I want to eat them anyway. The struggle, as you see, is very real.Â
âWell.. I hope that no one in particular strategy works out for you. There is a girl or two I wouldnât mind having a snog with, but as my dad said, always keep your options open.âÂ
âVery wise. As long as you stay away from people you donât want to kiss, you will do just fine. But still, keep an eye open for pretty girls standing under mistletoe, you donât want to miss your chance.â
âSetting your hair on fire? Now that would be a sight to see, itâll keep me plenty entertained,â Peter said, egging him on with his eyes. âAlright, enough of this king B.S., we both know Iâm not fit to be in charge of anyone. I like the idea, but maybe we could get them to do something else whenever Dumbledore is around? Two birds, one stone.â
âI am not setting my hair on fire for your entertainment, Wormtail. Snevillus hair on the other hand...â He laughed and shook his head. âEh, who wants to be a leader, anyway? Lots of work. Leave that to people like James, comes natural to them.â He sighed softly. âThat is a clever idea but what could the cookies do to leave Dumbledore speechless?â
âYouâll learn, Padfoot. You donât have a choice, after all. Maybe you could get that elf of yours to help?â He said, chuckling. âFine, fine! Two knuts then, and not a knut more! Sheesh, are you trying to bankrupt the kingdom?â He shook his head. âYour king demands both real food and shenanigans. What can we do about this?â
âKreacher? Iâd rather set my hair on fire, thank you very much.â He rolled his eyes, chuckling. âFine, fine. Iâll take it. In this economy, I could use the extra sickles. Anyway...Food I can find easily and shenanigans...I can make gingerbread cookies dance to Christmas carols. Entertaining enough for you, my king?â
âMy first order as king⊠You shall be my court jester. Also a knight. And my cook. Youâre basically my servant. But donât worry, youâll be compensated fairly - 1 knut per week.â He chuckled. âAs long as I donât have to think about my impending failure, sounds like a plan.â
âI can pull off the jester and the knight thing but cooking? Do you want to die of food poisoning or have the castle burn down? What? A knut for a week of work? You are already crazy with power, this calls for a revolution. Down with the monarchy!â He laughed and shook his head. âShut up, youâll be fine. Eat a marshmallow and forget your troubles, Wormtail.â
âOh, well, you know Iâll bring your studly face cookies any timeâ day, night, or in between. Why must you always be the harsh bringer of reality, Sirius? Why? Iâm a peacock; you gotta let me fly.â
âIs that a promise? Cause let me tell you, I crave food at the weirdest times. Ask the house elves. One time I went to the kitchens at three am because I wanted spaghetti. Â Iâm sorry! You know Iâm usually down for anything with you but sometimes, limits must be set. You donât want to be Icarus, do you? Youâre too handsome for that!â
âBut being a smart ass is my specialty,â Peter said, rubbing his punched arm lightly. âMake sure the crown shows off my spectacular-ness. I wouldnât say no to a throne, either.â He grinned lightly before continuing. âIf they decide to test us on our ability to prank people, Iâll ace the exam for sure. If not⊠Eh. At least I kind of tried.â
âKing Smartass...Has a nice ring to it. I approve. We shall crown you soon enough, my friend. Donât you worry.â He promised. âYouâll ace your exams, Peter. Itâs just a matter or practise. We will help you out, okay? But for now, letâs just focus on having some fun, yes?â
âI do what I please,â he said, chuckling. âIâm practically royalty. But I think that may end up being his undoing, if that makes sense? Heâs so smart that he wouldnât expect a simple little trick.â Peter shrugged. âMaybe Iâm over simplifying this. Iâll find some mistletoe,â he added with a wry smile. âCharms and charming have never been my strong suit.â
âOi, donât be a smart ass.â He playfully punched Peterâs arm. âYouâre a royal idiot. Iâll get you your crown and everything.â He laughed. âYou know, maybe you are right. Maybe something small will do the trick. Weâll see.â Sirius shrugged. âAnyway...Donât worry about the charms, mate. You can use this as practice for exams and shit. Itâll be fun.â
âSolid advice, Sirius. Who are you hoping to stick by?âÂ
âMe? Well...I-I think I just... No one in particular, you know? Iâll just hang around people I wouldnât hate to kiss. My friends, probably. What about you? Any pair of lips youâre keeping your eye on?â
âYet we all know it wonât because he charmed it himself. Is all really fair in love and kisses under the mistletoe if everyone doesnât have an equal chance of getting caught?â
âOh but thatâs where the fairy of holidays, aka me comes in. I will charm mistletoe so it works on him and so, fairness will be restored.â
caradoc-cares-not:
âPlease alert me to the ongoing status of this hypothetical project, and let me know if thereâs any way I can assist you. Iâm awesome at baking cookies, which Iâm pretty sure are great brain food. Aw, manâŠ. but skirting the line of âtoo much troubleâ is the whole point.â
âDonât worry, Iâll keep you updated, handsome.â He chuckled. âOh, cookies? You know I always love to get free and delicious food. And yes, itâs all fun and games until you get slapped and you get labelled as a pervert for eternity. Is just not worth it, mate.â
âRight, of course that was your goal,â Peter said with a wink. âDonât worry, I wonât tell anyone. Your secret is safe with me. That would be a sight to see, though. You and James could probably pull it off if you tried.â He turned his head and looked around. âI donât see them anywhere. I guess itâs just us. So, whatâs the plan, boss?â
âDonât wink at me you little shit. Well, we've tried before but is not that easy. That man is smart isnât easy to trick, you know? But I will manage to do it before graduating, cross my heart.â He traced an x above his heart and then smirked. âFirst, we need fresh mistletoe. And some serious charming, my friend.â
âThere is nothing to complain about potential holiday kisses, but that doesnât make him any less of a sneaky bastard. Heâs just a sneaky bastard who is a semi-wingman on top of it. Isnât it weird that our Headmaster also wants to play wingman?âÂ
âHe is a genius, Kingsley. A genius. Pff, nah. He is a lovely man, he just trying to get us to have some fun, nothing weird about that. Just enjoy the Christmas fun and stick around someone you want to kiss.â
âHypothetically speakingâŠ. Do you think the mistletoe works on professors? And do you think being forced to kiss by a demented piece of shrubbery would be enough to avoid detention for inappropriate touching? Hypothetically.â
âWell, hypothetically me and the boys are working on getting a mistletoe that works on the professors so, you know...Keep an eye open for that. Iâd keep my hands to myself, though. You donât want to get in too much trouble.â
âYouâre telling me youâd get enjoyment out of Dumbledore and McGonagall snogging in the corner? Youâre a sick man, Padfoot,â Peter said with a chuckle. âBut⊠I was thinking of something along the same lines. Shall we get the boys in on this?â
âNo, Iâm saying that I would enjoy Dumbledore reacting to mistletoe yelling at him to kiss someone. It is a goal of mine to leave that mine speechless for one reason or the other.â He smirked. âIf you can find them, yes. If not...Weâll have to fly solo, Wormtail. Iâm not missing the chance to make some holiday pranks.â
âKnowing Dumbledore, heâs made sure heâs not affected in any way. Sneaky bastard.âÂ
âDonât be bitter, Kingsley. The man is clever. Besides, are you really going to complain about potential holiday kisses?
âIâd hate to see that⊠Who do you think he would get paired with?â Peter shuddered at the thought. âBut he probably bewitched it to target everyone except himself.â
âCâmon, Peter, donât be like that. Love is love and all that.â He laughed. âI donât know. I just want to see Dumbledoreâs reaction , to be honest. But youâre right, he is clever as the devil. Maybe we should make out own mistletoe to make professors kiss each other.â
