she sighed a bit as he claimed not to have any moves, shaking her head. “yes you do. everything about you is a move.” nixie said matter of factly. “i’m sure it’s happened to hundreds of girls. like, it starts with that charming smile of yours, and then you start being so sweet and end up having a really fascinating personality underneath all that beauty, and really.. no one stands a chance against that.” especially her.

“well, in my defense, they are not intentional moves.” darianoffered with a weak smile. “not with everyone at least.” he added after a moment, realizing it might igve her the wrong impression otherwise. he’d always wanted to impress her, charm her, and why wouldn’t he? she was the most beautiful and intelligent woman he’d ever meant, he would have married her for that alone, and that was before he’d even gotten to know her, which only served to make her more perfect in his eyes. “you’re pretty hard to resist yourself nix.”

she snorted a bit. honestly, she knew what that was like. she had dealt with a lot of royals and a lot of them weren’t very pleasant, in a different way than nixie was unpleasant. they were all spoiled and entilted and thought that the world owed them everything. “i hope they are too,” she said, licking her lips a bit as she looked back up at him. “i suppose i could. you just have to promise not to put your…moves on me.”

darian smiled gently hearing nixie laugh, it was something he missed the most about her. of course, he missed almost every about her when he really thought about it. “this entire experience might teach them humility, or, we’ll have a fun time on our hands.” he admitted with a nod. “i’m sure i don’t know what you mean nixie.” he teased, smiling at his ex wife. “i don’t have any moves at all.”

“have i ever though?” taking a seat at the table, wren pat his friend on the back. “thank you, sir. your support is much appreciated. now, enough about the party. how’s it been going so far? somewhat okay?”

“have you ever been subtle? i don’t think so.” h said in agreement as he looked over at his friend. “ anything for a friend.” he offered with a smile. “i can’t really complain. i’m safe, all of my siblings are safe, i even got to see nix.”

she followed him willingly, a bit angry about the fact that she had already fallen back into him so easily. darian had always had that affect on her - she could ever stay mad. “i don’t even want to know what lexa and dylan are gonna be like towards their roommates. it’s gonna be a mess.” nixie glanced over at him, shrugging a bit. “if you ever get lonely, there are tons of people nearby you can hang out with. you can come see me too, if you want,” she said. after a moment, she realized maybe that being alone with darian in her room wasn’t the best idea. nixie had never been all that good at self control where he was concerned.

darian couldn’t help but chuckle as nixie explained her own fears regarding her siblings and their new housing situation. “ i just hope my siblings act civil... some of them are a little bit too...” he paused for a moment, searching for the right word until he settled on “ entitled. “. he had high hopes that things would go smoothly for everyone, though he was sure there would be bumps in the road. he glanced down at nixie as she gave suggestions of what he could do in case he ever got lonely, and it’d be a lie to say he wasn’t slightly excited by her offer. “you’re right, there are a lot of people here to hang out with.” he said with a smile and a nod. “for the record, you could come see me too if you really wanted to.”
