Miraculous secret protocol spoilers

Something that I havent seen people talk about is Sabine's "gift" from Lila (the red box with yellow ribbon). Since we never see whats in the box and it disappears after Kung Food is deakumatized, I think its a recording device hidden in the box which is still in the guest room and thats how Lila plans to find marinette's identity.

Becuase there's no way that Lila actually got an actual gift or an empty box and it would be an upgrade to her journals as something that could not be easily erased or altered like the journal in the london special.

SECRET PROTOCOL ANALYSIS RANT BECAUSE IM THIS CLOSE TO A MENTAL BREAKDOWN

first of all. INCREDIBLE episode. so incredible i was on the the edge of my seat the whole time- they got the feeling exactly right; where you feel like something is about to go awry every second but everything DOES GO SWIMMINGLY SO ITS NOTHING RIGHT??? and then it isn’t nothing…

king monkey… i just shake my head every time he says something or exists. i don’t like kim very much but that’s a different rant.

i really thought the gift fake wang was going to give to sabine held an akuma. maybe it did and that’s how lila akumatized herself into kung food? but then how did she become wang? there’s a theory in a yt channel called tricknot that i really like about lila multiplying herself into a hive mind or still time traveling.. idk idk WE DONT KNOW ANYTHING, APPARENTLY

the title: i had theorized months ago that since the episodes are named after the villains, the true villain of the episode would be lila’s secret protocol to unveil marinette’s identity. and while here they obviously referenced the title as ladybug’s secret protocol for defending her identity (handing her miraculous to alya so marinette and ladybug are together in the same room) this:

a) means marinette’s secret protocol was her own villain. it kept her distracted because she anticipated the wrong thing and it backfired. she knew something was wrong but at the end of the day she got chrysalis’ goal WRONG.

b) lila’s secret protocol is still in the episode. it’s still the villain as well, since it frightened marinette’s family and, since lila had already left as fake wang, she might have already gotten what she wanted; we just don’t know what it is yet. it’s just a less important villain than marinette’s secret protocol since technically all of lila’s protocols are already secret.

this episode’s goal, without the credits scene, is to highlight marinette’s paranoia and that she is ready for EVERYTHING and literally EVERYTHING. she trusts no one, not even her own family if they’re being suspicious. just emphasis on the actual fucked up state she is in. ladybug is consuming her, as we’ve seen throughout the whole season.

this also makes her revealing her identity to tom and sabine way more meaningful - she goes from suspecting her own family member might being the New Butterfly Holder to entrusting her parents with the most delicate, dangerous secret.

now. WITH the credits scene…

marinette WAS right to be paranoid. does it even count as paranoia if she’s right? she wasn’t paranoid, she knew something was up- but she went about it the wrong way.

she told her parents i can’t believe she told them this is like the biggest no no in miraculous golfers rules WHICH SHE BY THE WAY REITERATED IN THE VERY FIRST SCENE

(i’m also surprised that smarty pants guessed it i really didn’t think they’ll go with A PARENTAL IDENTITY REVEAL so kudos to smarty pants)

so. marinette and ladybug are now one. all of the closest people to her (well, boyfriend exempt) know. her parents, her best friends, her boyfriend’s adoptive mom and cousin. AND MAYBE CHRYSALIS.

we don’t know what lila’s goal was. maybe we’ll find next episode. maybe in the season 7 opener. all we know is that marinette is ten steps ahead, and lila is ahead A HUNDRED.

But also damnnnn now I need to know what happens in Nemesis (maybe that'll be chrysalis' new name or something who knows)

chrysalis INVADING HER HOME is top tier. because wtf is marinette supposed to do now? there’s no way this got lila off the scent, absolutely no way.

telling her parents was completely unexpected too! although something tells me they knew just a little bit, judging by the way they didn’t question why their teenage daughter would be the one to go check the literal imposter in their home. i could be reading too deep into that but ain’t no way i’d let my 16ish year old kid go confront a random stranger in my home!!

with marinette revealing her identity to her parents, i wouldn’t be surprised if adrien/chat noir reveals himself to marinette as well. i don’t see ladybug NOT telling her team that her home has been infiltrated, she’d at least tell alya.

the writing this season has had me on the edge of my seat! it’s no longer as predictable as it was before. lila is making moves that gabriel never even thought of in the first place. i CANNOT wait for the season finale!!!

also i might be shot for saying this, but knowing that there’s someone in marinette’s close circle that is going to betray her… y’all i think it’s POSSIBLY luka. i love that boy to death but his freak out in mister agreste was suspicious as hell. idkkkkkkkkkk

ok so I think. there is a non-zero chance that either Tom or Sabine (maybe both?) are also now Lila/Cerise/Chrysalis. Also the "gift" from "Uncle Wang" might still be in that room. It could be an audio recording device. There might be cameras set up in the guest room now (which wont show Tikki, but it could show everything else).

Actually, there is one more thing, which is that Rumi isn't wearing something that covers her arms like she normally does, which I find interesting because it's possible that either: The patterns weren't a thought when creating this concept art, or the patterns haven't spread to her arms (which is unlikely since my guess is that they start ON her arms and chest due to the flashback and other flashbacks where she doesn't have her neck covered)
