I hope it's okay for me to do, but as someone who's really interested in the blue/gold dress phenomenon, I attempted a flag for this that is based off closer colors to the image itself.
For anyone who's curious on how it worked, these specific colors were read differently by other people's brains depending on if their brain read the environment as bright or dark. in reality, the colors are light blue and dark yellow, but as their stripes stand, the light blue looks like a shadow on white fabric, so the dress is read as a yellow dress in the dark. but it can also be read as the yellow being a dark dress (black and blue) with a light shined on it, like from a camera's flash or bright sunlight around the dress outside. the background changes the way these colors read!
Here's an old gif illustrating this that i remember seeing on tumblr back in the day, sorry idk the artist.
here's the effect happening in motion on a real garment
Essentially it's a great example for a classroom when teaching art students how shadows and light sources are often colored rather than just white or black.
here's one more pic. once again, sorry no credit
so... ANYWAYS i designed a flag design for this based off colors that are closer to the dress, i hope thats okay. i dont personally identify as this but i do really love the concept.
if i had to add meaning to it, I would say that the top 2 stripes and the bottom 2 stripes are the same to illustrate the similarities people under this label find with eachother and their experiences. the stripes are mirrored so the colors are on different places and this can represent that even if people under the label may share core aspects, they wont always match the same way. of course, the light and the shadow represents people under the label under different walks of life, people's differing emotions towards their own gender (euphoria vs dysphoria for example) and it's interaction with the stripes around it are what makes someone unique and of course, in many cases, ambiguous, whatever it means to them as an individual.
these flag's stripes are in no way perfectly equal i 100% just threw them in by hand so if anyone wants to make better versions please be my guest lol
and of course, i just did this for fun. im not a part of the community, and i dont mean any offense.
