My Journey to Escape the War in Gaza
My name is Abdelmajed. I never imagined I’d be sharing my story like this, but life in Gaza has become unbearable. I am a survivor of the war here, and in the blink of an eye, everything I once knew—my home, my safety, my community—was ripped away from me.
The war has transformed Gaza into a graveyard of broken dreams. The buildings that once stood as symbols of life and resilience are now piles of rubble. Every corner is filled with the echoes of explosions. Every moment is shrouded in uncertainty. There is no security. There is no stability. There is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Basic needs have become luxuries. Food is scarce. Clean water is even scarcer. Hospitals are overwhelmed and under-resourced, and there is almost no medical care to be found. Every night, families go to bed hungry, praying they’ll wake up to see another day. The cost of basic necessities has skyrocketed, and it’s become a daily battle just to survive.
I’ve seen things I never thought possible—standing in long lines for a piece of bread, rationing every drop of water, and watching my people suffer in silence. I have lost everything—my home, my safety, my dignity.
Escape from Gaza is my only hope, but it’s almost impossible without financial help. The cost of evacuation is far beyond my means, and without support, I’m trapped in a warzone with no way out.
I’m reaching out to you now, in the hopes that someone, anyone, can help. I am not asking for luxury. I am asking for a chance—just a chance—to live. A chance to escape this never-ending cycle of fear, destruction, and loss. A chance to rebuild my life somewhere safe, where I can begin again, where I can find hope once more.
My name is Abdelmajed, and I am a survivor of the war in Gaza. Everything I once knew has been taken away—my home, my safety, and the people
Any amount you can give will help me get closer to safety. Even the smallest donation will make a difference—it could be the lifeline I need to survive. If you are unable to donate, please share my story. The more people who hear it, the better the chance that I can find the support I desperately need.
Your kindness and support mean the world to me. You’re not just helping me escape a war; you’re giving me a chance to live, to rebuild, to breathe again.
Thank you for listening. Thank you for caring.

💬 Just a Small Update, and a Big Thank You
Dear friends, kind hearts, and everyone who has stood with us,
When I first opened my heart to the world and shared our story, I never imagined the amount of love and solidarity we would receive. Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve now reached $12,837—a milestone that brings real light to some very dark days.
From the deepest corners of my heart, thank you.
💔 A Journey of Loss, but Also of Strength
As many of you know, I’ve lost 25 of my loved ones during this devastating war. That grief lives with me every single day. It’s in the silence that once held laughter, in the empty spaces where we once gathered as a family.
But through your help, I’ve also felt something else: hope. And that hope is priceless.
“21/Oct/2023 Before It Reached Us: The Day Our Neighbor’s House Was Destroyed” A quiet moment of fear, filmed just before everything changed.
“22/Oct/2023 The Morning After: Our Family Home in Ruins” This is what was left behind after the bombing of our home.
🌿 What Life Looks Like for Us Now
Despite everything, we’re still here. Still surviving. Still hoping.
But things have only gotten harder.
The war has returned, more brutal than before—and for over a month now, Gaza has been completely sealed off. No food is coming in. No medical supplies. No aid. No trade. No one is allowed to leave, and no one is allowed to enter.
We’re trapped.
🏚 We live with the fear of tomorrow, every single day. Airstrikes, drones, and the uncertainty of what might happen next. 👨👩👧 Our family is forever changed—we haven’t just lost people; we’ve lost pieces of ourselves. 📉 Basic needs go unmet—even clean water feels like a luxury now. Medicines, if they exist at all, are unreachable.
And yet…
Your support reminds us that we’re not forgotten. It reminds us that someone, somewhere, is still listening. That someone still cares. That we’re not completely alone in this.
Every message. Every share. Every dollar. It tells us: You’re walking this road with us. And that gives us the strength to keep going.
💖 What You Can Do
If you’ve already donated—thank you beyond words. If you can share our story again, it could reach someone who can help.
Even $5 means warmth, comfort, and a chance to breathe a little easier.
My name is Mosab Elderawi, and I am a survivor of the war in Gaza. Life as I knew it has been completely destroyed. I have lost my home, my
✨ Why It All Matters
This isn’t just about reaching a fundraising goal. It’s about surviving war with dignity. It’s about believing in tomorrow. It’s about making sure my daughter grows up knowing that the world did not look away.
Thank you for your kindness, patience, and belief in our humanity. You’ve helped me find my voice—and I will use it to keep hope alive.
🙏 From the Heart: A Quiet Apology
There’s something I need to say—something that’s been on my heart for some time.
When I first began sharing our story, I didn’t know what the right way was. I was scared, grieving, and trying to protect my family in any way I could. I reached out to many people, hoping someone, anyone, would see us. In that process, I now realize I may have overstepped, and I might have made some feel overwhelmed.
If that happened, I am truly sorry.
Please believe me when I say it was never out of disregard or pushiness. It came from a place of fear—fear of being forgotten, fear of not being able to keep my family safe, fear of watching everything I love slip away in silence.
I’m learning as I go. I’ve slowed down. I’m more mindful now, trying to share our journey in a way that feels respectful of the space and hearts of those listening.
If my words ever came at the wrong time, or in the wrong way, I hope you can understand where they came from—and I hope you can forgive me.
Thank you for seeing past my mistakes. Thank you for still being here. It means more than I can ever explain.

With love and endless gratitude, Mosab and family ♥️
i love geoguessr for the simple reason you get to hear people say stuff like “i actually hate luxembourg so much”
For @lithbollard (and any other ZigZag/Oscar enjoyers) some lore drop on him from CG's second channel today
Daily struggles (speaking english)
i beat myself up for not knowing enough about my special interests a lot but then i remember the average person off the street has no idea what the carboniferous is and i feel better
i would assume that a good portion of top geoguessr players already had a previous strong interest in geography before learning the game, but i would be interested to know the people for which this wasn't the case, i.e. obviously trevor and then to a lesser extent oscar (who always has to put a disclaimer saying his geography skills aren't as good as others, although he obviously still knows a fair bit)
i felt like adding this bc it is somewhat relevant
I would imagine a few of the newer generation of players don't, since some of them have mentioned they got into Geoguessr from watching the OGs play. Sp4ghet, for example, mentioned that Trevor specifically was his inspiration to start.
MK gives off that vibe too? Every time I watch one of his videos he always seems to comment on meta-related things in rounds versus geography-related things. Could be wrong though since I don't know that much about him.
Its also interesting seeing it from the other end of the spectrum too now that I've gotten into watching CG a lot, someone who has tons of geography knowledge but doesn't keep up to date with geoguessr meta, watching him casually rattle off hundreds of city names and populations perfectly for HugeQuiz videos while mixing up pole or car meta all the time in the dailies.
thanks for the input! 🥹 i watch jake lyons occasionally and he's similar to how you described cg, i think he pretty much only plays moving nowadays because of his geography knowledge. it's why i was curious about the other side of things so to speak aha
i'm not surprised about it being true for the newer gen of players, though i am much less familiar with them for the most part (despite me also being new to the community). i feel like their average age also skews quite young so it makes sense they'd be the type to look up to content creators ? i mean you could probably have said the same a few years ago with geowizard etc haha it's all just a cycle
Yeah the average age of the newer players skews very young, as with all esports really, there's very few players over their late 20s, and you have OG's like Jake and CG and Bloom "retiring" to be casters (and content creators) despite the fact that they're not even 25. There's at least one or two 18 year olds competing in the world leagues right now (minimum age requirement to compete for the world cup) and I know there were calls to remove that minimum to let even younger players play as well. I completely understand why they don't, there's probably a ton of legal red tape with letting under-18 year olds play for prize money... I feel like geoguessr is one of the few esports that older competitors could easily join though? It doesn't require the millisecond-fast reflexes of something like Dota or COD. So we'll see who comes out of the Open and Wildcard series this year, but yeah, above all it's one big fast cycle. Been super interesting to see some former high-level players get knocked to the lower half of the world rankings this year.
(Also the amount of people in Bangkok who just randomly run into Trevor at the mall is crazy...)
i think consus is one of the oldest players still currently active and he's only in his 30s if i remember that right? tbh i've never really been an esports person (more irl sports e.g. european football) so it's still pretty wild to me haha that the scene is overall so young. i think you're right that the skillset itself isn't necessarily age-restricted but i wonder if the time and knowledge put into it plays a part? it's a lot of rote memorization and practice of a game that has somewhat frequent updates, so i could see it being more accessible to learn for students or younger people who don't necessarily have full-time job commitments. especially since i don't know if geoguessr currently pays well enough to allow it to be someone's full-time profession (unless you're also a content creator), so i could see older adults viewing it as maybe not worth the time sink?
(these are just my own personal musings and again like i said, i'm new here so pls feel free to correct if anything i said is wrong 🙇)
Oh yeah don't worry you're absolutely right, college/uni students and adults with full time jobs wouldn't have time to put in the practice required to play at the top level, so that's what allows younger players to climb the ranks quicker - if you're still living at home and don't have to pay rent or tuition, you have more time to study the meta and play practice matches.
It's why RC disappeared from Trevor's dailies too and doesn't really post on social media that often lately, he's currently focusing on college when he's not playing. Consus is 33 and Orlando is 27, and I can't think of any other still-active high-rank players over 25 off the top of my head, but some players haven't really posted their age publicly.
Liquipedia (https://liquipedia.net/geoguessr) posts the to-date earnings of the players, although it's not 100% accurate. Even Blinky with his constant record of 1st or 2nd in prize tournaments has made less than 45k in 3 years. Which is another reason it makes sense that Trevor and Jake and Gavin (CG) and David (Bloom) all "retired" to be content creators and commentators - they make more and steadier money doing so.
I think I can add more to the age discussion in the community, especially if we talk about World League. I think there's like 5 people who's like 18 (pan, yanek, v89 are 18 for sure, but I'm sure I forget about someone). As well as Moo is 19. Generally in the community is a lot of young players who can't compete (Geooo, Kiribati, Eurya and a lot of more) all are under 18 now (I think bag (bad at geo) is also around 17-19 yo now). From the World League excluding content creators and Consus and Orlando, SwanGambit is 26, and he's one of the oldest lmao. And also Debre who's in the community for years now is just 20. Ofc I don't know the age all of the competitors because it's not the public info, but lol, sorry for interrupting your conversation, I just can't shut the fuck up sometimes
No problem for interrupting, thanks for the addition! But yeah, it's definitely an esport that skews towards a much younger demographic. Tom (GeoWizard) and Trevor probably being the two major inspirations for non-geography nerds to start playing, which is funny to me because Trevor has mentioned Ludwig's geoguessr videos are another reason he started playing, so it's a big cycle of content creators influencing content creators, lol
Another addition, but more about polish community, here's also similar situation, there's a few people who started playing geoguessr because a couple content creators were making contents from it (absolutely not related to theirs other content actually, I have no idea why they recorded it, probably for fun lol) in like 2017 or even earlier? There's not that common reason now, but there's still a few people actively playing on quite high lvl because of them lol
i would assume that a good portion of top geoguessr players already had a previous strong interest in geography before learning the game, but i would be interested to know the people for which this wasn't the case, i.e. obviously trevor and then to a lesser extent oscar (who always has to put a disclaimer saying his geography skills aren't as good as others, although he obviously still knows a fair bit)

I never thought I would get this invested in watching a man click google maps but here we are
The fact that he was so genuinely emotional when he got it??? 🥺😭
okay but how funny would it have been for the last loc to be Vancouver
I swear, if Reece comes back to the club with an injury, I will NUKE YOU THOMAS (affectionately)
So the Lyoko Warriors would be like 30-ish now, can you imagine what they'd be thinking about everyone using generative AI
So, you're telling me Chelsea will be playing in my country, literally so close to me, but I don't have any money for the ticket. Yeah. Cool. I'm fine.
this https://www.tumblr.com/xenoxvx/777685986219048960/i-think-youd-be-interested-in-thenameistobys anon here i was just scrolling through the geoguessr tag on here in hopes to find people discuss the pro scene lmao i get that being interested in the pro scene isn't the point of geoguessr but it's fun y'know and you talking about lennli was a pleasant surprise because rainbolt's still the most popular it's easy to forget with how loud the german geoguessr community is i'm also from germany so i have an automatic bias
i would've dmed you but my acc is embarassing (i only recently got into geoguessr and don't plan on talking about it publicly) we could talk on twitter or something if you want but my acc on there is also embarassing so i'd probably make an alt or discord????? or something
lennli's also casting a streamer tournament with popular german streamer bastighg who you probably heard of on saturday thought you might want to look into that if you haven't heard of it
First of all, I'm happy about is someone here is also into pro scene because yk, it's probably like 3 people here lmao. Second, my account is also embarrassing here as well as on Twitter lmao, but I don't mind if you want to for example writing on discord or something (I'm also more active there than here lol). And yeah I know about it actually, but it's really hard to understand a casting in language which you don't understand fluently, like, I can guess from the context of the video and everything, but I'm not good at german (even if I'm learning for like years). But yeah, when you create new account or decide to share discord or something, I'm here for it!
if by "1 fic from the universe on ao3" you mean geoguessr there is technically 3, but 2 of them are rainbolt x reader and the 3rd one isnt getting updated the author straight up vanished if you want more go out and write them its a perfect oportunity
Omfg I didn't notice it before.
Yeah I mean that (now there's 5 and 3 x reader lol). But I'm not the biggest fan of the x reader fics unfortunately, not my type. I know I can do this by my own but ughhhhh I'm struggling, like, a lot actually. The main struggle is literally no ideas, I'm not the most creative person unfortunately :/. So I'm just complaining and doing absolutely nothing lmao (I need a good idea, but also I must learn how to not abandoning my work when my hyperfixation disappear)
Sorry for answering like, after a month or longer, I'm not that active here 😭
i think you'd be interested in thenameistoby's most recent vod on twitch where lennli and more pros are interviewed during the world league. also harriers interview(s) on youtube. also zi8gzag's vid on his other channel bigbag where him and lennli talk about songs for two hours ^ ^
I watched Toby's live actually and was on the chat lmao (love how everyone thought the last interview will he with debre and this dumbass leaked himself on the chat lmaooooo). If you mean Harrier's interview post World Cup in 2023 then I also watched it. BUT I DIDN'T SEE THE LAST ONE OMG, thank you anon, love you <3 (how did you know I'm a simp 😭😭😭😭😭)
Watching geoguessr world league at almost 5am feels like having a stroke, especially if english isn't your first language lol
